I had a wonderful stay at Abpopa Hillcrest over San Diego Pride weekend. The location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of Hillcrest and within easy walking distance of all the festivities, restaurants, bars, and everything I wanted to experience. From my fifth-floor room, the views were terrific and added to the overall experience.
The micro-loft concept is unique, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The only thing worth mentioning is that climbing up to the loft bed can be a bit challenging in the middle of the night if you need to use the restroom, so it’s something to keep in mind. That said, it was a small tradeoff for an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Overall, I found Abpopa Hillcrest to be a great value in an unbeatable location, and I would happily stay there again on my next visit to San Diego.

Great spot to stay! Right in the middle of all of Hillcrest’s hotspots. Easy check-in with staff / hotel dog, who felt more like a friendly neighbor. The lobby turns into a breakfast spot at 8AM so grabbing a quick bite and coffee before heading out is a must. The hotel is also next to a public parking lot, which saved us a headache using SpotHero for the entire weekend without issue.
