Fantastic place - great staff, large room in stately home and a great breakfast included
Only stayed one night ...next time it will be longer

What a beautiful setting, the grounds in which a magnificent building sat are incredible. Beauty is not in shirt supply here!. The building in which you stay Ashton Hall is overwhelming with grandure the high ceilings and old quirks that are sadly no longer a thing in modern builds.
I think that this place is a hotel second sadly it seemed to play second best to the golf course, a little bit of a bug problem lots of dead flies on the window cills and other places.

The location was fabulous and the building was aesthetically beautiful with its resemblance to a castle or even a stately home. We learned that the oldest part of the building was From the 14th century with later additions dating to the 18th & 19th century. The interior was very stylish with high decorative ceilings throughout and large dark imposing oak doors and door frames.
Overall this is a spectacular place to stay.
There were a few minor things that were disappointing. Firstly the room had no TV and the bar area was also devoid of a TV and with the England football team playing I would have enjoyed watching them either in the bar or my room.
Secondly the Breakfast, although nicely cooked was a slightly disorganised affair. There were no bowls or spoons to put the cereal in and no sugar to sweeten the coffee or tea with. We had to ask the waitress to bring out these standard items.
Lastly, the bar closes at 8pm leaving us with a choice of going back to our room or getting taxis to and from Lancaster, we chose the former but without a TV we had to settle for an early night!

It was historical and the staff were lovely
There were numerous issues around cleanliness; which we discussed with a member of staff upon checkout. Which hopefully will be addressed for the next customer. Mattresses are in need of replacing; they were hard and dipping in the middle. There wasn’t a TV in the room which would’ve been an issue if we were staying more than 1 night. And they provided an ironing board but no iron - which amused us. The hotel is obviously focused on golf which is fine; however having a tv in your room in 2026 isn’t much of an ask I don’t think.
