Beautiful property with great staff.
Wish they had a restaurant open all the time.

The cleanliness and size of the room. Staff are very friendly and speak good English.
Especially, Ms Eka has been excellent. Not only was she efficient in performing her task, she did it with happy cheerful matter. Her communication was very clear. She really made my stay most memorable.
Hot water supply is not consistent.

Where to start... Rumah Pesik is a special place. Think Grand Budapest Hotel, but in Indonesia. It's not often that you get to stay somewhere of such cultural importance that has been forgotten and recently "rediscovered". This hotel is an artwork, full of quirkiness, in a quiet and non-touristic neighbourhood with incredible staff.
The highlights:
- Museum which is attached to the hotel
- Staff, especially Eirshad, the hotel manager, who is an incredibly interesting person that is truly obsessed with revitalising Rumah Pesik to its former Sultan Palace glory but make it a hotel
- Rooms are gigantic, AC works great, all amenities included
- Seems like the more you walk around, the more you find - so many statues, paintings, incredible architecture
If you want to stay somewhere that has various peculiarities, including an incredible story, this is the place for you. If you'd like absolute comfort and general looking amenities, try somewhere else.
And to make it clear, we loved the place, and would stay again.
To us, Rumah Pesik is a 12/10 place, but there are a few things that can be improved (many we mentioned directly to the manager as he asked for feedback):
- The pillows are a bit too tough
- The cleanliness (especially the sheets and the floor) could be improved
- Mosquito plug, or something to fight the ones that end up getting into the room
- Keep improving the rooms, great work so far!
Ah, and a bonus one, in case this bothers some people. Our room had a long window that was at the top of the room, and it didn't have curtains so it got very bright in the morning. I used my eye mask and it was fine, but worth knowing before you go to bring some!
