Beautiful property in a stunning location.
Wonderful private beach and great walks. We stayed in the Churchill suite which was large and extremely comfortable. The antique bath was fabulous.
The welcome was great and the staff very professional and friendly.
The only dining option for dinner was the six course tasting menu costing £135 per head. The mussels course was so salty it was inedible and the pasta course was chewy and too thick. The portion sizes were TINY and we left for bed still hungry. The wine flight was priced at £90 per head for 5 small glasses, totalling just over half a bottle. The volume of wine served was not stated on the menu and the portion sizes were too small to fully enjoy with the food. The pairings were very good though.
We were charged £45 for our Hypoallergenic, non shedding small Bedlington Terrier to stay one night. He was not permitted to go anywhere inside the hotel apart from our room and nothing was provided for him such as food bowls, poo bags or treats. I would not class this hotel as pet friendly.
Sadly, our breakfast wasn’t great either. My kedgeree was well made but the poached egg on top did not have a runny yolk. My toast order was initially forgotten and when it did arrive there was only one small slice of toasted bread and two small fingers of focaccia. My husband’s porridge arrived with no offer of anything to stir into it, previous hotels have offered honey, prunes, compote etc.
We discussed all of our concerns with Management on site and in fairness, some cash concessions were offered, but we still left very disappointed. Such a shame.
