Villas Margaritas Holbox

The location - off the centre but still near the beach. No noise or music from clubs. Rooms are very spacious (especially compared to other hotels), pretty and showers worked well. There is a pool on the ground floor. Staff were nice.

The score is more 7.5. There was a bit of mold by the A/C - my partner is very sensitive and immediately started having a headache. We asked to change rooms but was told they were full during low season. They covered the mold immediately, which was the only thing they could do, but didn't resolve the issue (or the headache). We only stayed one night and spent most of our time outside so as to not feel more ill. The mattress is slightly soft and the room feels generally a bit damp (we can feel it in our clothes). I understand it's the climate and it doesn't have to be pristine but perhaps more circulation or a dehumidifier when it's not in use will help. This isn't anyone's fault but note that there are mosquitoes hovering in the reception as that is where the pool is. Once you're upstairs, it's fine.

Close to the beach, short walk

Nice little property, great customer service from desk agents. You can do laundry in the facility across the street for an extra fee. I loved that our unit had a stove and the fridge so we could cook simple meals. All the windows had mosquito screens and room had an A/C. The hotel is located in a quiet area and only 4 minutes walk from Playa Holbox.

There were tons of dust under the beds and it wasn't cleaned for quite some time. Be aware that the island has sometimes power outages as we did have a few during our stay which affected wifi and A/C. Kitchenware needs an upgrade for sure and we would have loved to have a small garbage bin in the kitchen. Every room should be equipped with the drying rack so guests can dry their swim suites and beach towels.

There was a big mix-up for our check-in, we were supposed to have a room but they couldn't find the keys, eventually we were given another room. During this period, we had a small bag full of souvenirs we had just bought, and due to the confusion, we didn't realise we didn't take this bag into the room. When we approached the staff they said they didn't know. That's all. We expected them at least to offer to speak to the cleaning staff or maybe check security cameras if there were any, or at least inform us that they will check and let us know if they find anything. But nothing... This was very disappointing to us and we ended up feeling not very safe in a place where a bag with souvenirs disappeared in the property grounds. This ruined the experience for us and the lack of action from the staff ended made us feel unsafe.
