Prince of Wales

This is a beautiful hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed staying and will come back.

We liked everything, although room prices are rather high

Location was excellent. Right in the middle of the historic district. Hotel was beautiful. Check in was sooth and the staff were great.

The only drawback to this property was price. It is an upscale hotel but still very expensive.

From a bygone era, this iconic establishment really does make your jaw drop as soon as you enter. It is full of history, artefacts, art and interest. The staff are courteous, helpful and friendly. A particularly nice touch was the turndown service leaving a fresh rose on the bed. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to be able to open the windows for fresh air. The location is unparalleled for access to the shopping Main Street, lakeside, and horse drawn carriage rides.

The bathroom was looking a little tired by modern standards, and a request for a walk in shower could not be fulfilled. Some areas of the hotel are very dark, with wooden panelling and ceilings. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the 20s style piped music- not necessary, the hotel atmosphere speaks for itself. There was no European phone charging point in the room, but staff obligingly charged the phone at the reception area.

The location was excellent and it's a charming building.

The decor is tired, the public rooms were over-air-conditioned, and no one was at the front desk when it was time to leave, even though we explicitly told the desk at check-in that we needed to leave at 5 am. We called down to get our car from the valet (no answer) and then came downstairs to get help but no one was there for the 10 minutes we waited. We eventually were forced to rummage through the front desk looking for our car keys and ultimately found them in the bellhop's closet, which was unlocked and had all of the valet-parked car keys hanging on a wall.
