Hotel Shocard Broadway, Times Square

We stayed at Hotel Shocard Broadway, Times Square with our family of 10, and overall, we felt it was a good value, especially considering the location and the amount of space we had. The lobby is very small, and unfortunately, the employees at the front desk were not particularly friendly or attentive. Several times they seemed more focused on their personal phones or talking with friends than assisting guests. We also had to ask for basic necessities like additional towels and toilet paper, which we expected would already be provided for a group our size. On the positive side, they allowed us to leave our luggage and complete an early check-in, which was very helpful. We booked the penthouse, and for our family it worked perfectly. We had two rooms and essentially the entire floor to ourselves, plus a rooftop/outdoor area that was amazing. Having that much private space in Times Square was definitely the best part of the stay. There were several maintenance issues that should be addressed. The security safe in our bedroom didn’t work, the mini fridge didn’t work, the bathtub wasn’t working, and our shower did not have properly hot water. For a penthouse room, we expected these amenities to be in working condition. Despite these issues, for the location, space, and price, we still felt it was worth it for our family of 10. The penthouse setup and rooftop were great for a large family, and the location made exploring New York City very convenient. With better maintenance and more attentive customer service at the front desk, this could have been an excellent stay.

Great location near several subway stations; makes it very easy to travel around the city. Walking distance to Broadway theaters.

No complaints about the room or other facilities.

Another guest was smoking pot on the first night, other nights I was woken by workers delivery linens, moving around in the hallway. The thermostat didn't seem to work so the air conditioning unit had to be adjusted manually, there was also large gaps around the door so all noise and smells from the hallway were evident.
