Ace Hotel New York

Housekeeping very polite. And one person in the front desk too. The front desk seemed too informal.

One morning that a homeless got in the hotel, without being noticed. He got inside the same elevator with my wife. She saw him and left the elevator. Then, he just runned outside. What would have happened if the elevator doors closed?? There was no security personnel around. A very serious problem that needs to be adressed internally. In the lobby there were several people that were not guests...Then, more security should be present.

The location, amenities, and service generally was brilliant!

The service by some staff could have been a bit more considered and careful.

The room was comfy. The water pressure was awesome! I loved that there was a stumptown and milk bar and black seed bagel all connected. Location was perfect as well. I liked that there was a full size fridge too.

I wish there was a coffee maker in the room. All we had was a kettle for tea, but I don't think the tea was free even. It was part of the mini bar. There was apparently some live music going on in the lobby one night, and I wish the events and happenings were more clearly communicated because that would have been fun to attend.

Location was easy to get to and conveniently located

At nearly $1,000 for two nights, I expected a smooth stay and didn't really get one. A noisy group next door woke me at 3am, and when I asked for a room change, the front desk dismissed me before I had started explaining why. On the second night, a false fire alarm went off at 5am. The intercom was too muffled to understand, no staff were visible, and guests were left in the stairwell unsure how to reach the lobby. There was no acknowledgement or apology at checkout. Some areas felt dated or cheaply finished, and the lobby was crowded with non-guests working on laptops, so it wasn't a pleasant place to eat or drink... in my opinion. A brand activation (?) in the hallway made that there were many random people stood in the lobby/hallway throughout the day. Overall, the service and safety communication did not match the price of an upperscale/boutique hotel.
