It's updated the beds were comfortable and I felt safe. The location is walking distance from Santa Cruz.
The parking was kinda of tight but that's at any hotel you stay at.

The property was across the street from the beach. In the morning you can hear the waves.
Everything was pretty nice, however, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, we had to ask for towels as there were none in the room, and its a week later and I have not received my deposit back.

The rooms were decorated fine.
I did not like that you had to keep the curtains closed the entire time for privacy which took away from the view. There was a stain on the blanket on the top of the bed, there was a spider in the bathroom one day and a pincher bug the next day. When you opened the bathroom window the view was a bunch of old materials that they used to fix up the hotel - paints, old wood, containers etc. Not something you would want your guests to look at. *I did request an upper floor room but was told there were not any available.
