Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte Southpark

The Hilton Garden Inn is located in the South Park section of Charlotte, close to shops and restaurants. The parking costs extra but is ample. Some is under roof, some is not. The room I stayed in was large, the window shade did a good job of blocking the light, and there was plenty of well-organized room for clothes. The hotel is showing some age, but is generally well kept. The bar offers good drinks and some tasty bar food. Every staffer I interacted with was helpful and friendly.

Room prices are somewhat high. I was a bit concerned because the first two days I spent at the hotel were rainy and much of the roofed parking garage is subject to water leaking from above when it rains, which doesn't inspire confidence in the garage's construction. But what really annoyed me a good bit right at arrival is that the hotel's luggage carts were designed by an idiot. They are shaped like a pie wedge with the narrow end open, just made to have items fall off, and most of them don't even have a solid horizontal surface to put your stuff on, only rails that it can slip between. This offers your luggage every opportunity to tumble and drive you nuts. To make things yet worse, there are significant sills at the entrance to the hotel and at the elevator doors. When the cart hits these it stops dead, more stuff falls off, and then it's hard to tilt or lift the cart over the sills. Regular rectangular carts with closed ends would be a huge improvement.

We enjoy staying at this hotel. The staff are friendly & the room was very clean.

I’ve machine on 5th floor didn’t work Small shop for drinks/waters etc was depleted and not re stocked the following day Chef hadn’t turned up by 6.30am on our final morning so breakfast area was kept closed although advertised to be open from 6am

FIRE ALARM WENT OFF. NO WAY TO DISABLE AND HAD TO LEAVE ROOM. ONLY ONE COFFEE REGULAR IN ROOM AND IT WAS A LIGHT BLEND. NO HELP WHEN PROBLEM OCCURED
