The good thing about the place is that it is cheap and situated in the center of the city. However, tourists, be advised that the downtown area is full of homeless people, which at least for us made the area seem to be unsafe. Uber from the airport, do not go with the subway at night.

Place did not feel very clean, the room did not smell good, but it is alright for a few days if you are on a budget

The receptionist was really nice and very helpful. The bed is comfortable. And the wifi works really well !

The room was dirty, the bed sheets were stained. And it doesn't smell good.

There was a fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker.

No room service or change of towels.

Worst ‘hotel’ I’ve ever stayed, don’t do it, even with the nicest owner and so .

Horrible, scary, and filthy, in frightening neighborhood, sums it up. Think a $5 hotel in Tijuana and add filthy sheets.

Good location, near Oracle park and many other things in the heart of the city.

Small room (but a great value).

Great staff, they kindly kept our luggage after the checkout, the hotel was always clean, you can prepare your coffe there, bathrooms were shared but they were clean.

I have had the opportunity to stay at a variety of different hotels in San Francisco, all around the same price, and same room/shared bath set up, but in different locations and 9/10 it’s the same, expect to hear people screaming all night long, stains on the walls, bedding is used and most likely not laundered, floors are too gross to take off your shoes, it’s hot and musty and can’t open a window without either someone trying to stick their arm through & grabbing at your belongings or someone’s garbage from the room above flying in, and the front desk can’t be bothered they are simply there to get paid. Needless to say, they are “what you pay for” I guess….. BUT Oak Hotel is a breath of fresh air in comparison… You can tell by the way to staff handles issues (for example someone who’s yelling in their room will be warned once and you won’t hear it again or by the way the shared bathrooms get cleaned and restocked several times throughout a 24 hr period, or how your bedding is actually FREE OF STAINS, or you’re not bitten to death by bed bugs, fighting for territory with cockroaches, or with rats for your food — you get the point) that they take pride in their guests they make running a hotel look like a piece of cake.

nothing I can think of that bothered me. its a nice basic room with clean facilities and fully working amenities.
