Near the main square. Clean and lovely decorated..nice breakfast.
The parking garage costs and there’s an extra city tax to add

Arcade is the first proper hotel in Banská Bystrica whose standards match the year 2025 and the size of the city. It is located just a 3-minute walk from SNP Square, the main square in Banská Bystrica. The hotel is new, clean, and has an underground garage where you can park comfortably at a very reasonable price. The front desk staff were polite and professional in their communication.
However, during checkout, they forgot to ask the usual question — whether everything was alright and if we enjoyed our stay.
The hotel suffers from all the typical issues of new, just-starting hotels, and of hotels where management doesn't care about the quality of services provided.
The minibar fridge in the room generated more heat than cold — all the drinks were warm despite the fridge being on. Its cooling capacity was so minimal that it couldn’t chill anything stored inside. The same goes for the air conditioning: we set it to 23°C, but after running it all night with the balcony doors closed, the temperature in the room was still 25.5°C in the morning.
In the hallways, there were cleaning staff shoes left in random spots — I didn’t quite understand the reasoning behind this. I did notice that the cleaners always take off their shoes in front of the room they’re cleaning, but the shoes weren’t just in front of rooms — they were scattered around the hotel.
The mattress on the bed was smaller than the bed frame itself.
Breakfast is a separate story — unfortunately, this isn’t a problem unique to this hotel. The coffee was terrible, and the artificial juice from a fancy-looking dispenser was nearly undrinkable. On the positive side, the scrambled eggs were very well prepared — I appreciate that. However, there was a lack of cheese, ham, fruit, and pastries on the tables. For a room that costs €150 per night for two people, breakfast should not look like this.
Hotels don’t lose or make money on breakfast — but this one clearly doesn't follow that principle.
