Location was great for Windermere , clean , very friendly and helpful particularly Louise , went above and beyond to ensure all I needed for a celiac at breakfast was provided , great advice about a restaurant and 15% off the bill for recommendation. Very quiet to the point of feeling slightly strange as we only saw people the day after arrival at breakfast, very very quiet .
Not the fault of the guest house but I expected a hotel based on the description on booking .com , also expected a restaurant and access to a pool , there’s no restaurant or pool and no staff after 5 pm . Location was 1.5 miles from the lake for us half an hour walk unable to walk back as to steep on the inclines only a fiver for a taxi though . The guest house

Nice period building.
Good breakfast and a free parking.
Nice staff:)
No handheld shower:( and the shower room had a smell of sewage and the bath was not clean. Old worn towels and one had a hole in it.
Our double poster bed was extremely soft and high up. It was too small for two adults. They also forgot our complimentary bottle of wine.
A long walk to the lake front and uphill on the way back.
The retreat is in a different location and not a walking distance.
