Hilton Cairo Grand Nile

This hotel is very beautiful with a lot of different facilities as well. The rotating restaurant is a must. The food is nothing special but the views are amazing. Nice large pool, fantastic spa, great breakfast buffet with plenty of options. Located along the Nile so you are pretty close to a log of things and plenty of places to go.

For a 5 star hotel with such a proud reputation we encountered a few things during our stay which were very disappointing. We felt that throughout our stay we were treated differently to those who were either Egyptian/Arabic/Muslim. We found this a lot throughout our whole trip around Egypt but you don’t expect this from a place like the Hilton. More so it was very obvious that we were “2nd class” compared to others. Also there are two different breakfast buffets, one located upstairs and the other downstairs. The one downstairs is significantly worse. Tables not set, not the same options, different quality of food. Thankfully we were only put downstairs once but that was enough.

The bathroom needs maintenance and replaces the bathtub to floor one. In general, furniture is so old, and the vacuum machine is not cleaning properly

The hotel has an attractive lobby, plenty of staff and a lovely view over the Nile. The location was also useful for exploring Cairo.

Unfortunately, the hotel fell well below what we expected from Hilton. We didn’t receive the balcony rooms we had booked and were told that all balcony rooms were smoking rooms, meaning we had to choose between having a balcony and staying in a non-smoking room. Our air-conditioning initially didn’t work, and the toilet in our children’s room was broken and leaking, requiring a plumber. Despite advertising numerous restaurants, the food was consistently poor. We paid almost 8,000 EGP for an extremely disappointing buffet dinner—the most expensive and one of the worst meals of our trip. At checkout, we were incorrectly charged 1,000 EGP for a breakfast we hadn’t eaten. Despite explaining that we had all been visiting the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, staff spent 20 minutes discussing it while we waited to leave for the airport. We were also surprised by nearly £180 in additional taxes, smoking was prevalent throughout the hotel, and there were insufficient sunbeds, leaving us lying on the ceramic floor beside the pool. The hotel felt overpriced and poor value, and we expected considerably better from Hilton.
