During my most recent visit to Cozumel from 5/4/13 to 5/15/13, I stayed in the unit. To be candid, as I write this review, I am still smiling from thinking about what a wonderful vacation we had! El Cantil Condos Overview The development consists of two buildings, El Cantil Sur (South) and El Cantil Norte (North), each of which 8 floors of condo units (with Norte also having a 9th floor where Prima Trattoria and its adjacent penthouse are located). The property's facilities (building hallways, stairwells, garages, etc. are very clean and in obviously good operational conditions. The multiple pool, beach and dock areas are immaculately kept and fully provisioned with beach chairs, tables, palapas (palm frond umbrellas), scuba rinse tanks, outdoor showers...and best of all, a hotline up to Prima Trattoria for ordering drinks, snacks, lunch, etc. We were also able to bring our own cooler filled with cerveza, homemade margaritas, etc. and just made sure we had cans, plastic cups, etc. The drinks we ordered by the pool from Prima were all excellent (strong and well prepared) and food was a rating of decent+ for what we tried (sandwiches/burgers) poolside. Daily breakfast at Prima was included in our 11-day stay and it was very good every time! Also, the snorkeling from right off the piers was really, really good (we saw many grouper, an octopus, barracudas and fish of all types)...AWESOME! :) El Cantil Condos Location SIMPLY AMAZING!!! There is no more convenient downtown San Miguel location to stay. Literally within 1-2 blocks of El Cantil are the Chedraui (less expensive but less "nice") grocery store and the Mega (quality -mostly- but a little more costly). There is also a mom & pop store for beer and snacks about 50 yards from El Cantil Norte's entrance. Restaurants are all so close as to be within 5-10 minutes walking distance or a short & cheap cab ride. Additionally, Prima Trattoria is on the top of El Cantil Norte and is definitely worth trying but we wound up walking a lot to many bars, restaurants, stores, etc...so, very, very close to everything! El Cantil Condos Service Staff I cannot say enough nice things about the wonderful El Cantil Staff! GREAT STAY AT EL CANTIL! We will be back

As always Claudia and Abraham took GREAT care of us. Ramon was not there this time. We consider the honeymoon suite our home away from home. The wait staff upstairs was very attentive as always. It was nice on a rainy morning to go up and have breakfast and not have to get out. This property is the only place we will stay from now on. You might consider buying a new coffee maker. There were two in the room but both were a challenge to get to work. Other than that, fabulous. I recommend you all the time on trip advisor. The heated pool was nice too. You will be hearing from us mid summer for our December trip.

We loved El Cantil. The view is spectacular. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. We could always count on Abram to greet us every morning when we would leave for the day. Doris (our housekeeping lady) did a great job cleaning our condo daily. We enjoyed the breakfast at Prima everyday as well. I do feel the overall the condo need some attention to maintenance. I do realize this task must be "never ending" to keep things looking like a "5 Star" condo. These are minor issues, but in my opinion, separate it from being a 5 star to more like a 4 star. It isn't always the ammentites that a place offers but also keeping it up that matters. For example for inside units: our condo unit had the big sliding glass doors to the Ocean balcony. The screens on these windows were really bad, with holes etc. If it would have been in February when one might have wanted the doors open and using the screens it would have been bad with the holes. The love seat in the Living Room area needed repai/The front piece needed to be glued back to the sofa. One of the vertical blinds in the bedroom was broken/needed repair. Kitchen clock needed a battery, it wasn't working when we arrived, we put in a battery for the unit! :) No big deal, but the rented condo should be checked for minor repairs like these before the renters arrive. Outside common spaces: In my opinion, Tile around the pool looked old? or need to be cleaned? *** Pool was cleaned every day, that was great! Adequate lounger etc. Ordered lunch at the pool from Prima-was tasty and was served quickly to us at the pool. Ordered room service from Prima at dinner time-food was good as well and brought to us in a timely manner. The garage area that you need to walk through was a bit depressing. I wish there was another entrance to the pool beside giong through the garage Positive: Thanks for starting the ice maker and also making extra ice for our arrival! It made our Happy Hour a lot easier that first day not having to get ice across the street! Loved the FREE LONG DISTANCE CALLS to the states! That was great! All the extra beach/bath/jacuzzi towels! NICE TOUCH! Albert, thanks for your promt e-mails when we would inquire about any of the rentals, that was great! We ordered from Prima/ lunch/pool and unit/ dinner. Both times had great food and it was promt. Bathroom pool/south building was DISGUSTING! dirty/no TP Would we rent again? ABSOLUTELY Have a wonderful day!

We just returned from our stay at El Cantil. We stayed in 7A Casa Phoenix (4 bedroom) and 7A-N (1 bedroom) What beautiful condos!! Within walking distance from town so you don't need a rental car and two large groceries are right at your door. The views from the large balconies are wonderful! We could just want to sit there all day plus there is a hot tub right on your balcony! The rooms are large with each bedroom having a private bath and they are spotless!!! The staff always went over and beyond to ensure we had a great time. They were there to help with carrying your baggage to and from the room and always there to lend a helping hand carrying our dive equipment to the storage areas., Ramon and Claudia are friendly and will give directions, recommendations or just a friendly smile. Claudia quickly found me a dentist when I broke a crown. What great service!!! The infinity pool sits oceanfront and a great place to watch the sunset. We ate several times at Prima's and it was YUMMY and so convenient! We just love the wait staff there they definitely made our dining experience special. They also have pool service. Most dive shops will pick you up from El Cantil Pier or if you aren't a diver you can always jump in and snorkel. El Cantil has spoiled us we won't even consider staying anywhere else when in Cozumel. We will be back next year!!!

El cantil was the perfect place for our family vacation. With 2 boys (a teen and tween) we find it difficult to all agree on what to do. This condo gave us many options: a pool, a place to snorkel, a nearby downtown area and a restaurant above us. Despite our misgivings about the safety of Mexico, we felt perfectly safe and once or twice left the kids in the condo to go get a romantic meal downtown. The staff bent over backwards to help us when our plane was delayed by a day and were available whenever we needed them. One of the best things about the place was the proximity to the grocery store. We made our own salsa and chips every night and enjoyed trying new foods.The kitchens were well stocked with cookware. My only complaint is the lack of salt and pepper in the condo, though this was easily solved. If you do pick this place, don't miss a tour of the local chocolate factory.

We have stayed at El Cantil for several years, in a variety of rooms, which have all been fantastic accommodations! Regardless of the size, they all have an ocean front balcony which we enjoy no matter what time of day. The view is fantastic!! The quality of furnishings is excellent, the rooms are spacious and the housekeeping is top notch. The beds and linens are very luxurious; the bedrooms and baths are especially spacious. Claudia and Ramon cheerfully welcome you, and are available to assist with anything in the units or provide island information to make sure your stay is perfect. The location is second to none, which is extremely important to us. We can walk up town anytime to enjoy the festivities, do some quick shopping and dine at the many wonderful restaurants. We have our favorites, both new and old, that offer any type of cuisine. Guido's, Kinta, Kondessa, Casa Mission are just a few. Jeannie's has great food & drinks all day long with a great view of the ocean and a nice beach area. We also enjoy the small local eateries. Don't forget Wynston on the upper level of El Cantil that offers a fantastic breakfast & lunch menu as well as fine dining in the evening. El Cantil is located only a short distance from 2 grocery/variety stores if you choose to prepare meals in your condo. The pool area is very spacious and clean. There is never a concern for lounges, chairs or tables being available. Diving and snorkeling are available right off the dock, with diving lockers available on site. You will love your stay at El Cantil!

Nice condo but we didnt get housekeeping the first 3days,,after that they did a good job the remainder of the trip,,,we did tell albert and the man from the ofc but it still was 3 days with no housekeeping. we never got the internet to work until the last day of our trip and then a Lady who had been on vacation did come to the room and was able to get us online. Guess if she had been available sooner maybe we could have gotten online from day 1,,,,we told the man in the ofc about the internet problems but did not get any help until the last day when the Lady came and go us online,,,,otherwise our stay there was nice,,,,pool and outdoor hot tub was very nice

We love Cozumel. The people are great, the diving is superb, and it truly a wonderful place to relax. We had never stayed at El Cantil, always staying at resorts, so we did not know what to expect. The reservation and payment process was easy and secure. The web site provides outstanding information about each unit, the Condo’s and the facilities. Any questions we had were quickly answered by Albert via email. The welcome package is great. When we arrived, we were greeted by Ramon, and Claudia who provided us with keys and showed us around the Condo. There is an office that supports the unit’s right in the South Tower and any problems were quickly responded to. There is a doorman on duty 24 hours a day. Claudia provided a lock and showed us the wet suit drying areas and rinsing tanks. The service you get with El Cantil makes one think more of a hotel than any Condo we have rented complete with daily maid service. Dorris and the other maids kept the unit spotless. The unit was decorated beautifully and has everything one will need. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials one could expect and the location of El Cantil makes shopping and stocking your fridge a breeze. The unit contains a safe, U.S. power, surge protectors to protect your valuable electronics from the grid. Towels are exchanged daily and the entire El Cantil staff was great. The most wonderful attraction to the unit is the beautiful patio that overlooks the pools and the ocean. While quiet this time of year, many of the people we ran into had all been coming to El Cantil for years. Not a surprise. The Prima upstairs was outstanding. The best meal and lobsters we have had in Cozumel. The view is great, the food is outstanding and the service cannot be beat. Did I mention location? If you want to rent a car, there is parking under the Condos but we did not need a car. Within a 15 minute walk you are in the heart of the shopping or at any one of many great restaurants. With the exception of going to and from the airport, we did not use a Taxi during our entire visit. The Liquid Blue diving boat picked us up at the dock in front of the Condo and had our gear waiting and prepared for us. The Condo contains a great little guide book with outstanding information about restaurants in the area.The only thing that was not exactly perfect about our stay was the hot tub on the patio did not get very hot. You cannot go wrong if you choose to stay at El Cantil. We will be back.

We stayed at El Cantil in Cozumel this past November. We had 8 perfect days. The condo is right on the water and we watched the sunset from our balcony each night. The unit we were in is a one bedroom and is beautiful. Full kitchen, family room, jacuzzi on our balcony, beautiful king size bed in the bedroom. The store is across the street for groceries and the best elegant dinning is 2 floors above at Prima. We are divers and the boat we we were on picked us up right on the dock each day. After doing the AI on Cozumel so often, my wife & I wanted to discover another Cozumel. The stay at El Cantil was heaven; on the water with its own dock where Blue Magic scuba (all dive ops pick up) would pick us up, the condos are upscale and kept impecably well, the common areas are spotless and the staff on site are very professional and always curteous and helpful. The grocery store is across the street, so we would get our supplies for breakfast / lunch and then head into San Miguel, a 5 to 10 minute walk, to discover the fantastic rerstaurants which filll its side streets. Of course we always go to Prima, which is on the top floor of El Cantil N, the food, wine list and service are worth the elevator ride... The best way to do Cozumel as far as we are concerned.... easy, easy. easy...

We had the pleasure of staying in the one bedroom Honeymoon Suite in June 2011. The unit was just as it was described and we were very happy. The view is gorgeous and the unit had nice, updated features. We have been coming to Cozumel for over 15 years and had always stayed next door at the Plaza las Glorious. We watched the El Cantil condos being constructed. The Plaza was sold to a new group and we stayed there only once and felt like we were on a cruise ship. Because the location was perfect, we decided to try the El Cantil condos and we are thankful we did. We hope to return to El Cantil and their wonderful staff many more times. We love Cozumel!!!

We have been diving 4 years in Cozumel, and the preferred place to stay is El Cantil. We tried other resorts on the island, but we felt they were too busy and not very private. We love having the ocean to wake up to every morning. The rooms are spaceous and very clean, with a living room and full kitchen, and a hot tub on the balcony. The private pool is never overcrowded either. The staff and security is always friendly, and having a grocery store across the street is great, considering we have a great kitchen in our room. We really enjoy El Primo for breakfast before diving. It is conveniently on the top floor with a great ocean view. It is good food and you can get room service anytime too. I'm glad we had bad luck at another resort and ended up finding El Cantil and moving overnight to a much better place.

The pictures and the description of property was accurate. No surprises! The units are centrally located for easy walks to the center of town and restaurants. This property also includes a full breakfast with your stay at the EL Cantil five star roof top restaurant Prima`s. The property inside and out are very clean and a great staff to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. I highly recommend this property.

Our first vacation to Cozumel was amazing....and staying at El Cantil made this possible. A great place - helpful people - clean rooms - good food! Would definitely recommend and also stay there again

We stayed in the unit as a one bedroom. It was lovely. The condo is located in a perfect place for shopping , swimming and getting to the Calyata for diving. The staff was very helpful and the unit clean and comfortable. This was our 8th trip to Cozumel. We have come to enjoy places that you can jump right into the ocean. We have stayed north of town, in town and at the Palace next door. This location is ideal for families that like their privacy and have the option to cook with home like amenities. We are coming back with our family this December to stay in one of El Cantil's larger units.
