Excellent location in Brecon. Staff friendly and responsive to requests. Good functioning electric shower for such an old building.

Room was a little lacking in storage space and a few small extras would have made all the difference. For example - Bathroom - no where to put towels. Room lacked a chair to sit on or a desk to say work on a laptop. Nowhere to hang coats on.

Great hosts, proper old world pub feel about the place. Located very close to other pubs and restaurants in town. Great breakfast.

We didn't arrive until about 6.30pm - 3 hours later than we had originally anticipated. We were greeted by Bill who was an extremely pleasant chap who couldn't do more for us. Our room was on the 3rd floor, right at the top but that meant we had lovely views. The hosts were really lovely and went out of their way to make our stay great. They stored our bike for us overnight and most of the next day until we moved on to our next destination. We also met their lovely shepweiller pup Lola who was really well behaved. The Markets Tavern Hotel is a traditional type of pub, somewhere that the 'locals' use and still retains lots of period characteristics.

The decor was very dated and dingy. Did not know before I booked that I had to climb 2 very very steep sets of stairs. Quite a challenge for a 78 year old! This should be flagged before booking.

we were not informed prior to getting there that the b&b was undergoing refurbishment and so on arrival we walked into the front of house and it’ was empty, the restaurant was closed the bar was open with limited drinks but not for long. the room was fine but it was not the welcome we were expecting. there was building and refurbishing equipment all around the pub and downstairs over the place making it feel very unwelcoming and barren. i understand this was our bad luck at the time but for something we booked in advance- a pre warning of the work being done would of been nice.

The location was perfect for us, really easy access to the rooms, with a staircase that allowed us to go privately up to the room and not have to go through the bar. We felt so welcomed and Lynne and Wayne did their utmost to look after us and our dog.
