About this house rental

Nestled in Fort Payne, this attractive house for $210 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Beautiful cabin on Little River, half mile from the Desoto State Park Ranger Station, in the mountains near charming Mentone, Alabama. This house has two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. It has a deck overlooking the river, with a gas grill. The house is furnished and the kitchen is fully stocked (bring your own food and drink). NO PETS ALLOWED. The house sleeps 8: bedroom 1 has a queen and a twin bed; bedroom 2 has two twins and a bunk bed (full on bottom/twin on top). There is also a full size futon in the den. Close to great hiking, swimming, and canoeing (canoe available for guests). House has a flat screen TV, with a DVD player and a DVD library for all ages. The house has wifi via a satellite service. The wifi does support email and web searches, but does not support streaming movies or high data usage, and is prone to weather related interference and slow network speeds (satellite delays and high usage in the community). Due to the location, the house does not receive local TV channels. If football or other TV related events are important in your lifestyle, please stay some place else so you are not disappointed. The house is on a steep hill over the water, so not an ideal place for putting in a boat unless you are in great shape. We have a canoe down by the water for guests to use. There is one step to get into the house (the front porch), but the rest of the house is one level and easy to navigate. The stairs in the picture are to get down from the deck to the water. THIS PROPERTY DOES NOT HAVE A DOCK. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE NEIGHBOR'S DOCK, THEY WILL PROSECUTE TRESPASSERS. There is a swimming hole, which is also a good place to put in personal canoes/kayaks, 1/4 mile down the river, near the bridge. Also, this is a house in the woods. There may occasionally be bugs or critters, and the place may get dusty, just as every house does. The house and linens will be thoroughly cleaned between visitors, and if you see a problem during your stay just let us know and we'll fix it. The house is accessed by a key pad lock on the door. To unlock the house, enter the code and turn the knob that is on the keypad. Then turn the door knob. Google maps has been taking guests to County Road 612, but not to the house. Please turn on CR 612 and drive to the correct house. The number is on the house. THIS PROPERTY DOES NOT HAVE A HOT TUB. NO PETS ALLOWED. THIS PROPERTY DOES NOT HAVE A DOCK. PLEASE STAY OFF THE NEIGHBOR'S DOCK, IT IS NOT SAFE AND THE NEIGHBORS WILL PROSECUTE TRESPASSERS. THE NEIGHBORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES.

I didn't stay here personally, but my family did and they enjoyed their stay. Valerie was nice, very responsive and accommodating.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was cozy and comfortable for 3 moms and our kids ranging newborn to 17.

First off, Valerie is the best host I’ve ever dealt with, super accommodating and accurate, even when plans change a little! Communication was immediate. The cabin itself is everything needed for a week getaway and then some. My wife and I couldn’t get over how quiet and peaceful it was. Our 11 month old daughter enjoyed the open floor plan with lots of playing room. Couldn’t think of a complaint, we’re planning our next trip, this time we’re sharing the experience with friends!

The booking and communication with the owner was great! The cabin was clean. I loved that it had an abundance of seating and beds but the mattresses were very uncomfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

So the layout is a bit confusing from the pictures. The master shares the wall with the kitchen and the other room shares a wall with the den. Each room has it's own bathroom. I actually like this set up. It's not super sound proof since the walls are open at the top, but it's enough privacy for changing purposes. (It was just my family staying, but we have 5 kids.) However, the kitchen, dining room, den, and living room are all one big T-shaped room. Considering we wanted to put 2 people in the den, this was a bit of an issue, especially since there are zero blinds or curtains in any of this space (no windows in the bedrooms). so they woke up early due to the sun. Also, the bunk bed rail is not secured at all and the whole house was awoken in the middle of the night when it came crashing down on the floor. The two showers have 2 non-water-resistant curtains on them, so water got everywhere because they were soaked through and wouldn't stay inside the shower. There is a bit of mold(?) developing on the wood floor in front of both showers, so I know this isn't the first time occurrence. One of the couch recliners in the living room is also broken. We didn't expect good wifi or to stream anything, so what did work was just fine and not an issue. We didn't expect not to have zero cell service at all across any of our 6 devices. We could could barely get a text out. The place was overall clean and comfortable, just a handful of issues need to be fixed to make this perfect.

This was a great location and just right for our family of 5. It allowed us to break away from the electronics, computers and cell phones and take a break to enjoy each other's company. Great location as it was close to Desoto State Park, Desoto Fall (would like to have returned there for swiming), and the Little River Canyon (great swiming there is you can handle the long hike). The cabin had every thing we needed. Only draw back was steep access to the river / creek with no hand rails. My husband who has balance issues could not manage. The camp fire spot would have been nice to enjoy, but it would also be helpful to push back the vegetation a little more at the water (looks like a tree fell recently). Great location for the price, but plan on being disconnected as cell service was non-existence unless attached to the internet.

It was nicely locate but wish the walk way to the river was a little better
