The property was located in a great area, however the unit itself was a disappointment. The stairs to get to the unit were dangerously positioned and difficult to get up and down for aged individuals. The shower area was in pretty bad shape with mold growing on the walls and floors in between the white tiles. The pots and pans were old and most of them were not safe to be used. The bathroom was located in the bedroom and made it difficult for other individuals sleeping in the living room to access in the middle of the night without waking up the other people. The unit was dark and not fun to stay in.

We had a very nice stay. Walking distance to the Mall and museums. Large roomy space and included parking on the property. Very good value.

Difficult to get in with lock system. TV system very marginal. No amenities eg. coffee Ayer wine

Great location. Owners were great. Maybe not for older people because of the very deep and steep steps down into the basement apt.

Property is in a very nice neighborhood and close to many of the sites we wanted to visit. Grocery stores, restaurants and transportation are close by. We did have some challenges actually getting the door to the apartment open upon arrival and that was a little frustrating but the apartment is good size and comfortable. The steps down to the door are very steep but we knew it in advance. Bed was very comfortable and a/c worked well. Had some issues trying to close the shower door but the water pressure was really good. Very quiet and safe neighborhood with a nice little park just down the street. The wi-fi was a little spotty at times and the TV should probably be replaced. When we did try to watch the TV it would just freeze up so we watched on our IPads instead. It is a very nice location and met our needs of seeing the historical sites of Washington. With some simple changes it would be a great place.

We had a great experience staying here, the location is ideal, the rooms were comfortable. The only complaint was the ants in the kitchen.

Had a wonderful stay. Located near Capitol Hill in a lovely neighborhood of Row houses. Owners were responsive to our questions in a timely manner. When the neighborhood loss power they checked to see if we needed anything. Our only suggestions would be an additional railing for the outside stairs and bigger cereal bowls. 8 thumbs up from this group. Definitely recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were great and quick to answer questions, they got us a parking pass so we could park on our day of departure. The apartment was small, but clean and well furnished. The only minor issue was the WiFi wasn’t working, but our phone’s worked fine and we didn’t spend much time in the apartment for that to be a problem.

Perfect apartment for our week in DC! Short walk to a little corner store that had everything we could need, great little hole in the wall breakfast joint just a few blocks away, and an easy walk to the Capitol! The location could not be better!
The apartment itself was large enough that my family was not on top of one another- plenty of room to spread out. Master bed was COMFY! Kids were happy they had actual beds to sleep in via the daybed and trundle rather than a pull out couch.
I highly recommend this apartment for your stay!

We enjoyed our stay so much. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided, and the full bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in away from home.

Parked the car, and didn't need it the whole week. Just a few blocks away is union station where you can get the metro, or buses to get you where you need to go. It was a little lacking in supplies. Couldn't find dishwasher soap,(which they brought us) or trashbags that we didn't realize until we took out the trash when we left. The dishwasher didn't work, but not their fault, appliances break down. The pictures show 2 chairs in the living room, but there was only 1 :( We really enjoyed our stay. The owners are very nice, and informative. The steps down to the apartment are not going to be for everyone though. They are very narrow, and steep. Overall very clean, comfortable, and an easy walk to the national mall.

The rental was as advertised and very comfortable for a family of 5 (2 adults/3 kids) visiting D.C. Hosts are very kind and helpful on the occasions I sought their assistance with something. A magical place to call "home base." Easy walk to SCOTUS, Capitol, Library of Congress, and mall. Also easy walk to Union Station, Eastern Market, or Capitol South for metro access to longer destinations. And they even had a parking space for us that was super easy to find and no problem whatsoever to use. Highly recommend this place and the hosts. I also recommend renting electric scooters and going up the mall and back in the evening.

Great location near the US Capitol! Safe neighborhood that is not too far from the market and metro/bus stops (prob 1/2 mile). There are a lot of electric bikes/scooters around that were fun to ride as well. Stocked kitchen and washer/dryer made it easy to cook and do laundry! Internet provided where you can stream Netflix,etc.. some live channels. One suggestion would be please add one more chair in the family room. Thanks!

Overall we had a wonderful trip. We did like the apartment but as others have mentioned the steps down are steep and not for someone with movement issues. Another concern we had is that we had trouble getting into the apartment. No directions were given to us for getting in. We knocked on the house door and were given a few set of keys but the place we stayed at had a door keypad and we weren't given the code. The brother in law of the lovely older woman helped us and and we were able to get in and get settled. Once in all was good. Another concern that I pointed out but it wasn't addressed is that there was a parking fee listed in the host fees even though the headline lists free parking. I inquired about this but never got an answer. The parking was still much cheaper than anywhere else I could go so I still booked this place. We did bring a lap top and used that instead of the tv as it was limited in what you could watch. The strength of the internet was not strong enough for streaming in the bedroom. The concerns I mentioned are minor ( except the lack of communication for how to check in). One last thing is that we checked in in the early evening and it was dark, It would have been nice to have lights on in the patio/ courtyard area- the steps down are right by the gate and could have been a bit of a disaster if we didn't see the drop down. All of my concerns are easy to remedy and I would stay there again as it was perfect for the two of us, had easy parking, was clean, and had as easy walk to the Capitol. The neighborhood was really nice. Once at the Capitol you can look for the DC Circulator for easy and cheap transportation around.

This place was roomy, well-equipped, beautifully appointed, and quiet. Great location and free parking in DC! Thanks for a great stay.

Entry down into the apartment might be difficult for older folks or anyone with a disability. For business around the Hill I found this a comfortable, quiet alternative to a hotel. Bring your own device for TV / streaming as the one TV has no cable service and really only allows for you to sign into streaming services you may have for yourself. Also, you may want to bring your own soap for shower and hand washing. Finally, the queen bed mattress is foam, not firm, but rather soft. Not my preference but adequate.(

We had a great time in DC and in our stay at this apartment. It's a perfect place for families. We have two teen boys and a pre-teen girl. The boys slept on the two parts of the trundle bed in the living room and the girl slept on an inflatable bed (a nice one, with a bed frame off the floor) in the breakfast nook in the kitchen. The kitchen is fully-equipped, so we had breakfast and dinner there every day and ate out while sight-seeing. On the way home from the metro (Union Station), we would often stop at a small market for dinner ingredients. The apartment is in a great neighborhood, but the walk to Union Station was a little longer than I expected - about 8 blocks. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but we were there during a heat wave - highs in the mid-90s every day - so we were very tired and sweaty by the end of the walk and after a day of sightseeing.
A couple of cons: Parts of the apartment were slightly run down. For example, the microwave handle was broken off (although still functional), the knobs for the dimmer switches were cracked, and the shower door didn't close all the way. (We all loved the shower itself, though. Great water pressure, and we never ran out of hot water, even after 5 showers.)
One tip: The DC Circulator bus stops outside Union Station and makes a loop around all the major monuments on the National Mall - and it's only $1 per person. Each morning we would walk to Union Station and have the option to take either the metro or the bus, depending on our destination, so it was nice to have that flexbility.

This property is not The Ritz, but it is not priced like The Ritz either. It is a basement 1 bedroom apartment in a historic home. What it has in spades is convenience! It is close to everywhere you will want to be. We had a blast renting electric scooters and riding all over town. The neighborhood was charming, residential and safe.
As for the apartment, the linens were ample, the bed was comfortable, the down comforter was awesome, the kitchen was sufficiently stocked and it was clean. For me and my kids it was perfect.

Very nice rental and we would love to stay there again considering how close it is to my daughter's apartment.
We had a bit of an issue with the parking spot when we arrived near midnight, but nearby street parking was available -- the parking spot was available all other days of our stay. The key situation was confusing that first night - one key for the garden gate and a code to release the door knob, but no key to fasten the additional bolt and no way to lock the knob once you're inside -- turns out the door knob locks automatically!
The place itself was quite nice and warm considering the winter weather, but could use a new toaster and fry pans.
Owner is very pleasant but was having some connection issues with VRBO, so she didn't respond to all our communications.

While the apartment was okay for our two week stay and the location was great, I think the VRBO description is a bit too rosy. I did not consider the kitchen to be well-equipped. My camping cookware is in better condition than what was provided, and what was provided needed a good scrubbing. The provided sponges were used, and I could not tell if they were for dishes or for cleaning, as there were cleaning supplies under the sink. We had planned on cooking several meals, but after I saw the cookware, I changed my mind. One of the chairs in the living room was ripped, the bathroom could use some work. When we were in the apartment for the evening, it sounded like the furniture upstairs was being constantly moved, with someone walking back and forth with heels on the wood floor. This would go on late into the night. No instruction was given for check in/check out, and I sent two emails that were never responded to.

Great location with walkability to the capitol and national mall. The apartment was very clean. It is located in the basement, but it did NOT smell musty. The stairs going down into the apartment are VERY steep and could be dangerous if you are not careful.
Overall, we loved our stay, we rate it a 5 and would stay here again.

So much to love about our stay. The neighborhood is amazing! The family that owns & runs the space is super gracious and friendly. They gave us great ideas about some places to dine and sites to see. We were surprised that the space was more spacious than the photos let on. Kitchen had everything we needed. We like to try to have one meal a day "in" when we travel. Bed was super comfy and the shower...just a little thing you don't think about unless it's really good or really bad...was REALLY good. It's a shame that there was a 4-mile razor wire fence surrounding the capitol during our stay...that took away a little from what would be otherwise an IDEAL location for somebody wanting a close location to enjoy the Capital and the National Mall. Obviously not something in our host's control, and hopefully a situation that will improve soon. We had a little confusion and a hiccup in our check in. Our hosts went out of their way to make up for it and beyond. They are really great people. The Capital Hill neighborhood is incredible! We had three children aged 7-14 and felt super safe walking the neighborhood at night. When we return to DC, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks so much!
