Situated in Gruene, this charming house for $130 per night is a great option for your next break. Professionally decorated in Texas-chic style by a well-known New Braunfels designer and once featured in the New Braunfels Holiday "Detour of Homes". Some features include reclaimed wood floors from a Cotton Gin in Galveston, a huge antler chandelier, and custom antiques. The home has an open floor plan to create a warm and relaxed feel. Now available for 30-day minimum stays only. Winter Texans are welcome or enjoy your own vacation home in the summer and go back and forth to the big city for long weekends. You will never forget your stay at the Gruene House! Privacy, relaxation and fun are what you will get in this 2 story home--the closest private home located in the original neighborhood in Gruene. Providing more space and charm than a condo, our home combines modern amenities and the comforts of home along with the best location in Gruene. The home has a primary bedroom with luxe, king bed and large, private bathroom with walk in rain shower on the ground level. Also on the main floor is the well-stocked kitchen open to the living room with bar seating for 3 and a dining table that seats 6. The second floor includes two additional bedrooms, a full bath in the hall way, and loft area with single daybed and desk area. One bedroom has 2 queen beds and one has one queen bed. Off the loft are french doors to an elevated deck overlooking the pool and resort like yard. The backyard has amazing shade trees (unusual in this area) with native flowers and plants. Still the best feature is the custom designed Guadalupe river style pool complete with Hill Country Boulders and a jumping rock. The bubbler creates a soothing sound for relaxing in the sun (the pool is not heated to swim temperature in the winter months). The Gruene House has everything you need for outdoor entertaining including a firepit and outdoor kitchen area with gas grill and fridge--lots of space to spread out, lounge, swim, and play. The birds are always chirping creating a relaxed atmosphere and melting away your stress. You won't want to leave! Whether you want to CHILL OUT or WARM UP, this is the place to do it, Texas style. If you get tired of playing and relaxing at home, the fun of "downtown" Gruene is a one block stroll away. Pop into Gruene Hall to catch some live music, the General Store, the Grapevine wine-tasting room or any of the shops and restaurants whenever you please! No driving down a dark, windy road or fighting for a parking spot in the historic district. No arguing about who wants to shop and who wants to get back to the house to relax by the pool or firepit. Gruene has something for people of all ages- shops, restaurants, live music, and the Guadalupe River--all within a short stroll from your private hideaway. *The house is not suitable for children under 6 or those who do not know how to swim.* Note: all occupants must be listed and ID or DL provided for all adults.

We loved our stay at this adorable house! The attention to detail in creating a Texas feel is in every room. I love to cook and the kitchen did not disappoint - enough room for a couple of cooks. The beds are very comfortable. And that backyard is a little oasis! Whether you’re reading a book on the patio loveseat during the day or listening to the bubbling pool while sitting around the fire pit at night, it’s pure tranquility! The proximity to the historic district of Gruene can’t be beat. The house is minutes from daily live music, restaurants and shopping. So convenient!
The owners were fantastic to work with. We loved staying here so much, we booked again for next year!

2nd time as good as the first
This was our second time renting the Gruene House. We loved it so much the first time, we had to stay twice as long! It was exactly like we remembered and it felt good to be back. The owners are a delight to work with and are quick to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. If you'd like a more detailed review, go to my Mar. 2020 posting. The town of Gruene (less than a block away) is beyond charming with an abundance of shops, restaurants, music that make for great walking/exploring/entertainment.
The hosts are exceedingly nice, responsive and accommodating - very easy to work with.

Wow!
It's hard to put into works how amazing this home is! From the moment we stepped through the door we were in awe of everything. We loved the Texas-chic décor which gave us a true southern feel. The house was immaculately clean and well stocked with anything you'd ever need. We especially appreciated the little things like plenty of hangers in the closets and extra toiletries in the bathrooms.
The master bedroom is on the main floor and the bed was so comfortable. Once again there was no shortage of pillows, bedding, and blankets. Everything from sheets to bath towels was of high quality.
Montie was a joy to work with. She was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had and was very accommodating.
Now for the best part...the backyard. It was truly paradise! Having our own pool, gas fire pit surrounded by rocking chairs, a gas grill, and plenty of lounge chairs and eating areas made us feel like we had our own resort. The backyard is very secluded and at night the soft lights in the landscaping and pool were an awesome sight! Literally, the only negative aspect to our stay was the COVID-19 crisis that hit the country about half-way through. The historic town of Gruene, with their unique shops, restaurants, and live music, slowly closed their doors due to the virus. However even that was turned into a positive because it allowed us to hang out in the backyard and enjoy it even more.
We highly recommend this place and hope to be back another time when we can experience Gruene and the surrounding area to its fullest. Thank you, Montie and Jim, for a most memorable trip!

Rare gem
The home has a wonderful location in Gruene. Live music, shops, restaurants, etc., all very close. That alone makes this a gem. But in addition, the pool is fantastic, the owners are extremely responsive, nice fire pit, and the house is beautiful. The best house I’ve ever rented by far.

This is by far one of the best “finds” on VRBO. Not only is this home tastefully decorated, the outside landscaping and pool area are beyond exquisite. Walking distance to live entertainment in Gruene is the icing on the cake!! Owners were extremely attentive!! Loved everything about this place. We are coming back next year.

Fabulous location in the heart of Gruene!
We had a wonderful stay at The Gruene House! From the location to the nearby entertainment to the outdoor pool & firepit, we couldn’t have had a better time! The house is inviting, clean and comfortable. All guests that were with us remarked on the comfortable bedding in the rooms. Plenty of space for family and friends to visit. The house and surrounding areas were everything we wanted for our family vacation. The owners were very responsive to us whenever we had a question or needed advice. We look forward to returning soon!

As winter Texans we wanted to be located between Austin and San Antonio where our kids and grandkids live. The Gruene House was perfect! Plenty of room, walking distance to bars and restaurants. Accommodations were excellent. We want to come back next winter.

Just as advertised!
Nothing about what we experienced was different than what was promised concerning this vacation rental. We were just steps away from Gruene Hall and all the fine restaurants in the Gruene Historic District. Every detail has been thought about and provided for inside of The Gruene House. Need a CD player? Reading material? A bicycle, one each for the two of you? Even a tooth pick? For us it became a game, "I bet they didn't think about ..." But they did! On top of all that, they were available and responsive, like when we needed just one more restaurant suggestion, or directions to Riley's Tavern, world's best dive bar. We are going back!!

Winter Texan from Colorado
Enjoyable home that is well appointed. Home is within walking distance to Gruene Hall and good restaurants. The outside patio is lovely with a great fire pit and pool (owner wouldn't allow us to heat it) but our stay was Feb and March so we couldn't enjoy it. We never got used to the train noise at night. Whenever we had a problem the owner was quick to handle the situation.

Amazing house, Great location!!
I recently rented this beautiful home in Gruene as i was in the area for business. From the moment i opened the door, i felt right at home! The Texas decor throughout the home was tastefully done. The owners have done a great job with many high-end upgrades. The pool and outdoor shower was a perfect way to end my evenings after a grueling hot day! The BBQ area and fire pit outside topped it off for a very relaxing atmosphere! The location couldn't have been any better with just a short walk into Gruene with great restaurants & unique little shops. I hope in the near future my work travels will take me back to this area, i would absolutely love to stay here again!

Would love to come back!
Loved this house for our get-a-way! With 4 teens and 3 adults it fit us just right. We were tempted to just stay at the house because of the always cool pool, but we loved being in walking distance to Gruene. It was so nice to be able to run purchases back to the house on foot when our arms got too full. If we didn't take a stroll for dinner we were close enough for a run to the grocery store and the grill made it easy too eat in. The outdoor space is beautiful and even lit up the outdoor fire pit for s'mores. The bedrooms are luxurious and the beds are very comfortable. It was great to feel right at home unwinding in front of the TV in the living room, game room or bedroom before sleep. The outdoor shower rounded out the bathrooms, and who doesn't love taking a private outdoor shower? The house was immaculate, fresh and well maintained.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!
We stayed here for an extended time in the spring. This house is the best representation of down home Texas Hill Country living. You can not beat this location! It was so convenient to downtown Gruene....we didn't have to deal with the limited parking in the historic district. We had nice walks around the quiet neighborhood too. The back yard is a peaceful and private oasis where we were able to hang out as a group and swim and grill out when the town was super crowded. The fire pit was a great place to hang out in the evenings after dinner. The interior layout is perfect for small groups and families. Our kids loved the General Store, Tubing and all the fun in Gruene! The owner was very responsive when we were booking and during our stay. She was very helpful in giving ideas of what to do in town. We will be back next year!
