We were very impressed with the cabin. We will book in the future.

Nice little cabin for a Thanksgiving getaway. My brother and I did some fishing and caught a couple of large mouth bass. The only challenge of the entire weekend was managing the slightly smaller than normal (compared to today's standards) oven. I saw the pictures prior to packing but didn't pay enough attention. I'm hoping this review helps those in the future. I didn't interact with the hosts at all, their instructions were clear and I had no issues accessing the property or figuring out where things were. Great place and I'm glad I found the Fosters Cabin for the weekend

Great cottage on a beautiful lake. Hosts were great to work with. Highly recommend. One caution. If you are coming after summer season and want to rent kayaks or other boats, the nearby marinas close rentals after Labor Day. We would have brought our own kayaks had we known.

Amazing neighborhood, best sky, where you can see a Milky Way. Everything was nice. I wish they provide towels. However, I didn’t got this from the pdf they shared, I called the host and she kindly resolve this misunderstanding and helped us. Great thanks to Foster Family for hosting us.

Cabin is located in a private community, Cedar Key Nature Preserve. Cabin was confortable and nicely appointed. All appliancescworked fine and the beda were comfortable. The only surprise was how steep the walk was to the lake. It may be fine for a younger person, but not safe for us at 70+ years, especially with no handrails. Otherwise, it is a good value for the price point. Also, separate your garbage. The collection/ drop off area has multiple bins for various recyclables. That will save you from rummaging through your icky trash like i did to pull out the recyclables.

Nice property. Little difficult to find. Stores some distance. Owner responsive when I couldn't get into property. Quiet and relaxing which was primarily what I was looking for.

We were very comfortable and loved this rental! Boat trailer parking, ease in/out of condo, deck to chill and over look the water, kitchen & dining table all did not disappoint. The couches & seating were perfect for lounging around while watching tv. The deck was a great place for us as a family to just hang out overlooking the calm waters below. The dock was perfect for us to tie up our boat and go boating daily, no wake or co cern of boat getting damaged. We didn’t take advantage of the swim dock because we found some amazing coves on the lake. Area to allow our dogs to go to the bathroom. We loved that we could have our dogs on deck and access backyard through a gate to take our dogs out from the deck. All in all we will definitely rent here again and the communication with the owner was top notch, amazing response and service! Warning- when we booked through Vrbo, both owner and myself were contacted by a 3rd party claiming to be Vrbo and told both of us that the reservation had been cancelled and wanted to verify info. Beware of scammers - do not give info out over phone. I immediately hung up and reached out to the owner via messaging through the Vrbo app, the owner immediately called me and confirmed our reservation and we realized it was a scam.

My family had a great time and the cabin was perfect. We rented a boat for a few days and it was great being able to dock it right at the shared pier. 10/10 would stay again. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Property was as advertised. Very neat and clean and comfortable. View of the lake was amazing. Cabin was very functional. Had trouble finding the eating utensils as they were across the kitchen in a china cabinet but we survived. Most difficult aspect was lake access down the steep hill behind the cabin. Our age made it difficult but was rewarding to swim in the beautiful lake.

Beautiful little cabin overlooking Smith Mountain Lake. It was large enough for my wife and I, with our 2 young children. There's a marina just 5 minutes away for boat rentals and a dock out front of the cabin to dock to. We had a blast fishing and tubing and will be back again.

Nice, private location with a great view. Cabin was very clean up on arrival and had some of the basics stocked. We will definitely try to return when the weather is nicer. Only thing to note is the marina that is listed is the closest to the cabin but the ramp and turn around area is very narrow/small. I don't recommend it for larger boats. We ended up using the state park.

Views are great in my opinion, cabin has sufficient space because you either spend most of the time outside or away exploring, sightseeing or enjoying shops/restaurants. About my sixth stay at Cabin 5 or 7; will be back next year for sure.

We’ve been coming back to the property at least once a year, and it never disappoints. Very close to the water, well-maintained, and cozy. We will be back as always.

The owners were easily reached and I felt like we had the information we needed for our stay. The cabin is close to many restaurants and the marina. We stayed with our dogs and they enjoyed the lake. We had to be cautious on our way down to the lake due to steep decline to the lake. We used the steps to navigate. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay and there was plenty of seating room in the family room. We loved spending time on the deck- it had multiple types of chairs and tables to relax on. We enjoyed our stay!

Tucked away lakeside is a wonderful community of cabins. Our cabin, #5, was a home away from home. Nicely equipped with anything you might need. We had a few humid hot days, but the AC did not disappoint! Tables and chairs on the deck with a wonderful view of the lake! Rustic walkway down to the lake, bring your water shoes or Crocs! The Dock is shared, and we couldn't have ordered better cabin neighbors! A short drive to a convenience store, and the Marina, this is a wonderful home away from home! Thank you to the Fosters who always answered any questions we had, and were perfect hosts! :)

The property was very clean. You could not tell that this is a property where animals are allowed. The dock was awesome and the kids and adults loved jumping off of it! Thanks for a great stay!

Just what we needed
This cozy cabin is just right for a small family or group of adults. The layout of furniture and appliances is efficient & attractive, & the kitchen has everything needed. We loved the big deck, which has two metal tables and lots of seating. The queen-size bed was so comfortable. Our hosts were kind & accommodating when our plans changed a bit. These cabins are in a small, quiet "village" with safe parking, a shoreline path to stroll, & well-kept lawns. All in all, a wonderful introduction to Smith Mountain Lake. We're planning to return!

Relaxing weekend stay at the lake
We really enjoyed staying at Joan’s cabin. Cozy with everything we needed for the weekend. Loved that we could bring our pups along with us. Beds were comfortable enough for us. The deck patio was great overlooking the lake. Small kitchen space but had all that we needed to make our meals. Located in wildlife refuge with deer everywhere. Steep hill down to dock fyi. Perfect little place to simply relax & unwind.

Great SML Cabin
I loved everything about this property! The cabin had lots of charm. The deck overlooking the lake was large with a nice big table plus a seating area at the other end of the deck. The kitchen had just about every gadget you could need. The A/C worked well. The cabin is set high up on the slope so it is a climb back and forth to the dock but this is typical of most SML properties so I expected that. It is a short boat ride to the pretty areas near the mountains and dam on the lake. Best of all this is a pet-friendly property. I would very definitely rent this again!

Handicap ramp at cabin front door needs work, so power wheel chairs can come in and out.
Great 3 days

We really enjoyed our time at this little cabin. It was just us 2 and our 11-month old. It's in a quiet, secluded area, so come prepared with food and a willingness to drive or boat to get to civilization. Kitchen is small but very well stocked with cooking implements. The queen bed wasn't particularly comfortable, but c'est la vie.
