This beautiful log cabin home on Lake Gaston was the perfect place for our family to gather for Christmas. Such warmth and character. The kitchen had everything we needed for some delicious cooking over the course of several days. We brought our own Christmas tree, along with some simple Christmas decorations, that really made it feel like home! The weather was warm enough for us to be able to be outside and gather with a fire every night. We fished for some catfish off the dock, and got a massive big blue catfish on Christmas morning! We will book again in the summer months when we can access the lake with a boat and kayaks!

The location was beautiful. The first day was spent in clearing away the cob webs inside and outside the home. Upon walking in we walked through several spider webs. We then had to make up the beds, (I had to wash one bed spread that was dirty before sleeping underneath it) sweeping the floors and turning on the heat. It looked as if no one had been there in a long time. The house was freezing cold. There were not enough blankets. The bathroom on the main floor only dispensed hot water so we had to keep bottled water for brushing our teeth and washing hands. At the end of the stay, we had to wash, dry, fold and put away all of the linens. It took 5 hours because it was a lot of laundry and we wanted to do a good job. We had to take the trash to the shell station down the road. It was a beautiful location but a lot of work for a getaway. You have to really like spiders.

We just got home from our weekend visit. It was a short trip and wish we could have stayed longer. The house and property are very nice and just as described. Enjoyed spending our afternoon sitting by the fire watching our grandchildren fish. Everything you need and very beautiful and quiet location.

Our family absolutely loves this house for so many reasons. The property is pet friendly, and almost completely fenced in which is a huge plus. We comfortably had 6 couples in the bedrooms, and 4 teens on the middle floor - there are bunk beds there and plenty of room to set up two air mattresses for them to spread out and have their space. We enjoyed eating out on the screened in porch when the occasional rainstorm would crop up, but primarily we were on the dock all day! The water is nice and deep, so jumping off either of the docks was fun and safe. Everyone really enjoyed using the paddle boards and kayak, and floating on the giant mat was very relaxing. Even though we had a few issues upon check in, the owners are ALWAYS responsive and make it right to the best of their ability - we so appreciated their care. I do love that there is everything you need for your stay. There are trash bags, hand soap, dish washing soap, etc., and all the necessary kitchen items available. I always pack these things when I travel, but this home is well stocked. The only recommendation I would make is to get a new mattress for the sleeper sofa, as the one that is on there is not able to be slept on. No doubt we will be coming back for a 3rd visit next summer as this place just has it all. Thank you all so much for another awesome family vacation!

Overall the property was great, our group of 7 kids, and 8 adults had a great time. We loved the 2 paddle boards, canoe, and the kayak. They also had a large variety of life jackets and pool toys to play in the lake with. We spent our whole stay swimming and fishing. Note that there is no central air conditioning, however, it was 95 degrees and humid outside and the window units in the house were more than sufficient to cool the house, even in those temperatures. They were renovating the deck above the screen room during our stay so we did have a couple of contractors at the house one day but they did not interfere with our vacation and we were informed by the property manager before they arrived. We only gave 3 stars for cleanliness due to the 3rd floor bathroom needing some attention however I believe this was just an oversight because they rest of the house was clean and comfortable. Watch out for snakes (not a huge issue as you are outside in their environment we just were not expecting to find 2 copperheads after dark while we were night fishing). The only thing we were missing in the kitchen was a toaster. We had dogs with us and enjoyed the yard being mostly fenced as this made it much easier to keep the dogs contained and the double lot was great as we had plenty of outdoor space. We all much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay in this beautiful rustic log home again.

We all enjoyed our stay and wish we could live there year round. What an amazing vacation for a family with teenagers and kids in college. There was plenty of room to sprawl out and so many great books for family time! It really is a neat home full of character. The cove is quiet and safe and full of fun! My favorite morning routine was to paddle board and kayak to visit the herons before the rest of the house woke up to play! Owners were kind with any questions and seemed great! We will definitely be back!

We love this place! It's perfect for our family! And pet friendly too! Near our favorite fishing spots! Caught quite a few crappie off the dock too. We spent most of our time on the dock, fishing , swimming and relaxing when we were not out on our boat fishing! Our grandkids love it! One of our favorite places to stay! It's a little piece of country but on the lake! The screened in room off the cabin was a perfect place to hang out on a rainy day when we couldn't get down to the dock.

This place is amazing. The pictures don't do the view and outdoor space justice!! This was hands down the best place we've stayed at the lake thus far. The location was perfect because it was off of the main lake (high traffic/wake) but didn't make you feel like you were in a teeny tiny cove either. We rented jet skis for our kids and felt so at ease letting them ride in the area due to its location (also good/safe for tubing). The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. The lot/yard was perfect for having our dog with us. We never felt right on top of the neighbors/other dogs and the lot is mostly all fenced in! The window AC units cooled the house down just fine (we were nervous about this), but we were rarely inside :) If bringing or renting a boat (we did both) there is an extremely convenient location to put in the water and get gas at Holly Grove Marina. Just know there is a bridge you must go through that is very narrow! (Yes a pontoon will fit!) We were so very sad to go and we will be coming back again <3
