Ben's Beach Bungalow 2, 100 Steps to Sand
About this condo rental
Situated in Mission Beach, this lovely condo for $306 per night is a great choice for your next break. Summary: Just steps to the sand, this property has recently been completely updated to provide you with the feel of luxury. Take our boogie boards and beach equipment out for the day and come home to grill on your private front porch or walk to the restaurants in Pacific Beach. This unit is laid out to comfortably sleep 4 in two beds. It has a separate dining area and a full kitchen, so you always have the option of dining in or experiencing the vast array of PB restaurants and bars. The Space: This recently renovated 1BR is typical Mission Beach. Efficient use of space maximizes the sense of space. A queen in the bedroom and full pull out in the living room provide the sleeping arrangements. You have a fully stocked kitchen with all you could need to prep (pots, pans, utensils, blender, toaster, microwave, oven, stove and service for up to 6 guests). Guest Access: The whole unit is yours. This unit is part of a small and quiet 6-plex with 3 long term and 3 vacation rentals. The patio in the picture is not shared; it is solely for your use. The Neighborhood: Mission Beach is an amazing coastal community designed around "courts" with all of the residences facing one another across a sidewalk. That design creates a cozy and homey feel (and also limits the amount of car traffic) making Mission Beach the ideal spot to "live at the beach". Enjoy several miles of long, flat boardwalks for riding bikes or skateboards or just going on a stroll at sunset. Restaurants, bars and amusement parks are all within walking distance. And of course, the beach on one side to surf or the bay on the other for more casual water play (unless you decide to kayak, stand-up paddle board or sail...all rental options are just minutes away). Getting Around: We provide a single covered parking space. It is accessed off the alley and as such can be a tight fit (as with about 90% of the parking spaces at the beach). We recommend a small to midsized car to make it easier to park. We also recommend backing into the spot as that makes it easier to get in and pull out. Looking for a unique way to get around Mission/ Pacific Beach during your stay? We've partnered with a local company, PB Golf Cart Rentals, that offers daily rentals in a customized Golf Cart. Whether you need it for the day, the weekend, or the week, they've got you covered. With flexible pricing and local pickup & drop-off, you’re minutes away from riding around San Diego in style. Please mention that Vacation Rentals By Aaron sent you! Other Things to Note: This is "typical" beach parking so we do not recommend large cars. The spots will not accommodate anything more than a mid-size car or SUV. For stays longer than 30 days, I require a deposit in the amount of one month's rent to be paid offline due 60 days prior to arrival as well as a formal lease agreement. Despite any stated cancellation policy, I will refund 100% for any cancellations made prior to 90 days from your arrival date. Thereafter I will refund your rental fee to the extent I am able to re-rent the unit for the days cancelled. We only offer the air conditioning between May and September Interaction with Guests: We are a self-service destination (check-in details will be sent 3 days prior to arrival). However, we are also a full-service, professional management company (that has been a Superhost/Preferred Partner for over 4 years running) and we are just a phone call/text/email away and have agents that are almost never more than 10 minutes away should a need arise.

Steps away from the beach. 30 minute walk to Belmont Park. It was Christmas time, so Belmont Park was beautifully decorated. Grocery store was 10 minutes to walk. Plenty of Mom and Pop restaurants to choose from.
There’s a local coffee shop two blocks away went there every morning chatted with the owners had great coffee and pastries.
Would definitely stay at this location again.
FYI, parking can be challenging in the summertime. There weren’t that many people at the beach during the Christmas holiday we were able to find street parking. The parking spaces are rather small. If you have a large vehicle, you would need to park on the street.

This property was perfect for a week getaway. It was super close to the beach and it felt cozy in the actual place. There was one carport parking. The alley way is pretty thin, so really do bring a smaller car to make it easier to park. The only complaint I have is whoever was upstairs at the time was very heavy footed. Not sure if it was a rental or someone lives above. But otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay. Restaurants all around to go to and plenty to do. Would highly recommend staying here.

Very nicely equipped and only 70 of my steps to the sand. Parking is a challenge for larger vehicles like mine, but doable. Overall a great place to access Pacific Beach and we will absolutely come again.

Another great stay in PB! Ben's Bungalow is a perfect location, walking distance to everything in PB and MB.

Property was very easy to access, within short walking distance to restaurants, shops, coffee shop, bars and so close to THE BEACH! We had an amazing time! Was very thoughtful and convenient to have beach chairs and towels provided too! Overall, great experience!

Location is great. Photos did not match the online booking photos. Condo stated that it would be fully stocked. There were only two bathroom mismatched towels. We booked as a family of 4 so this was disappointing. Having a decent set of towels would have made a greater impression. Would have been nice to have a broom available, sandy feet at the beach all week can get old.

The close proximity(less than the 100 advertised) to the beach and the parking space were the most notable amenities. The unit was functional and met our basic needs. Typical age of the housing is from the 30s and 40s and this unit fits that profile. No central AC or heating was necessary then and was not provided. Instead a portable room AC unit which was ducted to a window was used for cooling. This was needed because the majority of the windows are fixed and the ones that do are small sliders. Fortunately the temperature cools at night which is most likely typical of San Diego weather. An exhaust fan in the bathroom would help though as it stayed damp from showers and towels never really dried completely. The flooring and cabinetry was more worn than I expected. The posted photos may have been a couple years old.

The location is great! Property is clean, Parking is tight, reccomend small vehicle as host suggests. Upstairs guests can be a little noisy. Plenty of items for the beach. The layout of the unit is very nice. We had 4 people and it worked out good. Walking to restaurants was easy. We rented bikes at Ray's and were very happy we did! We had a great time!

We've been to San Diego many times and this was probably one of the best places we've been to. The host always responded quickly if we had any questions.
The place really is just a minute walk up to the beach. The grocery store is a couple minute driving and there are many bars and restaurants walking distance. There are a couple laundromats not too far but didn't end up using them.
There were plenty of basics such as towels, bedding and kitchen essentials. The extras that we loved were some chairs, umbrella and boogie boards for the beach. Parking was a little tight with our SUV but we made it work.
Overall, just really loved the atmosphere of the place inside and out. Plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenagers. Hope to stay there again on a future visit!

It was a great place to stay and a fun area to visit. So close to the beach and rarely used our car. The parking was helpful though to have. We would stay again for sure!!

All in all a good experience. Place is a one bedroom with living room sleeper sofa. Very nice for two people and small children. Beach is steps away and prop manager was attentive.

This location is fantastic! House was as expected and the property manager is a great communicator. Five stars!

Nice place, had what we needed. Could use a little freshening up. At checkout we provided a list of items that need attention .
Many vrbo properties have a “guest book” that includes suggestions for restaurants in the area/ activities. It’s also nice to have this available for guests to make comments on what they enjoyed doing in the area, so not as much research required to figure out what to do.
Parking very tight, but doable. Would have been very challenging to find on street parking.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was a perfect size for our mom/daughter weekend getaway. The property manager was great. Emailed to make sure we made it there, responding quickly. Location is close to beach. Definitely would stay again.

We were happy with our stay. We had a real good time in San Diego!! The weather was not as warm as we wanted but you have no control of that. If we come back we’ll pick April and possibly Ben Blue Bungalow!!

It was close to the water and many local food/drink options in walking distance. We enjoyed walking the board walk ever day. The property manager was very responsive and helpful.

Great location with great communication with the host. TV stopped working on the day we got in and the host quickly provided a new one.
Parking is a + and the property is in a great location!
Thank you for letting us stay at your place!! We will be back!

This was a really nice place and close to the beach and the restaurants. My family really enjoyed the place and all that the location had to offer.

The location was great. The online pictures did not match what it actually looked like. The place was a bit outdated, and for the money spent it could have been cleaned a lot better. Also there was a ton of little ants , in the bathroom and the kitchen ,some bug spray would help probably take care of that.

Fabulous location right near the beach. Aaron was extremely communicative and responsive the entire stay.

We had trouble getting in because the passcode didn’t work so I had to call the property manager. The nice one bedroom apartment is clean and well furnished. The screen door handle is about to fall off as well as the screen is torn away from the frame. We were woken at 4:30 am by four people moving about upstairs and then we saw them leave around 6am. We couldn’t sleep but that was the only night I slept there. My friend from London had two more nights that she was able to sleep with no one above to wake her.

A great deal for an amazing location, less than 100 steps to the ocean walk! Amazing communication with management company. The unit could use a little TLC, but overall comfy and had everything we needed!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Check in and check out processes were flawless. Property clean and ready to go. A few minor paint touchups are needed, but overall property was in good condition.

With a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of beach equipment this attractive and well laid-out rental provided all we needed for our three-day beach getaway. The location, a minute's walk from Mission Beach and a few minutes from the Bay, is great, and a parking space is even provided, though maneuvering into it was tricky for our Rav4. We have cable at home, so the Roku TV took a little study for us. Overall we were well pleased and would happily stay here again!

We were visiting our son for family weekend and this property was the perfect place to stay. It was close to the beach (actually only 86 steps!) and many restaurants, super clean and the host was extremely communicative from the minute we booked. We would absolutely book this property again.

Although our first time in this location, not our first time at a "beach house". We will definitely be returning to any location that this firm is associated with. The room was as described, perfect for the two of us. It was very clean on arrival and hope we left it as we found it.
While not important to most, on a rainy Wednesday night we were able to download the ESPN app for the Roku TV and watch our niece at her collegiate soccer game.
Kitchen is well enough equipped. BBQ was great. The "beach equipment" included Tommy Bahama chairs, which are the best and were well used. We will be returning, we hope on an annual basis. Location of this unit is exceptional. One small word of warning, watch your toes around the bed. It's a toe grabber.
Now for the beach community experience. While up to the last two days of our week here were great, a group of about 5 families occupied one of the units close by. They had no problem letting children stay up past midnight making noise as well as the parents up till after 2AM doing the same. Can't choose your neighbors.

This was a great little place very close to the beach and the bay. Lots of restaurants and shops. We loved it.

Check in and communication was easy and smooth. Place was clean and quiet. Definitely recommend this stay if visiting the PB area. Thanks again

My significant other and I had the most fabulous time during our stay! Perfect location, less than 100 steps to the beach and right in the middle of everything else you would want to see in San Diego. If we go back to this area we will definitely be staying here again!

We had an absolutely wonderful 5 night stay in this awesome bungalow! We have rented many places on this beach over the years (26) and this was by far our favorite. Yes it is a bit older (we love the relaxed charm) however it was clean, cozy, and accessible to everything! We enjoyed using the grill several nights and overall relaxing in our private bungalow. We really appreciated the "extra" touches such as: plenty of towels, nice beach items for use, keyless entry, fans, coffee pot, toaster and plenty of cooking utensils. They aren't stingy with essentials as some rentals have been, such as plenty of paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper, spices and garbage bags. We can't wait to book again!

Great location to surf and play in the beach. Communication with property management was great.

Everything went very well

There was not actually an A/C unit. There was a portable A/C unit, which did cool off the main area of the home, but not the bedroom. Also - there was a bad fly problem. I can understand how this could happen with the trash cans being right through the alley, but there was some gross paper towels by the grill and a terrible smell by the edge of the house. I feel like the exterior upkeep had been neglected. With there just being an A/C unit in the house, the vent goes out a window, which means that window stays open about 6” at all times - not great considering the fly situation.

62 steps to the beach.
So my S/O & I booked this place after reading multiple reviews and proximity to the beach. Communication with host was a breeze as was finding the bungalow. The place is pretty much as advertised, small, quaint and perfect for the two of us. It was nothing fancy as these beach bungalows are a little on the older side but it lent itself to the charm. She and I enjoyed strolls on the beach every morning and evening. The location was pretty good as it’s close to everything; grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants etc. Bungalow also had plenty of beach supplies too such as chairs, umbrellas and boogey boards (we brought our own). **A note regarding parking** for those of you reading this review, unless you have exceptional parking skills (I do…former delivery driver lol) I do NOT recommend driving anything bigger than a small SUV or crossover as the parking spot is tiny and alley way is very narrow. There are a few things that could be improved on to make stays more pleasant for future renters: 1st was the screen on the security door was torn and we were not able to use it as in leaving door open to enjoy outside weather as flies would constantly get into bungalow. 2nd: The kitchen could use a little updating as in a new toaster that actually works & some more kitchen supplies; maybe one or two extra pans, cutlery and basic kitchen staples…a spice here or there. On our 2nd or 3rd night, a group of young adults came walking in from public sidewalk, came into our courtyard and helped themselves to relaxing on our patio and using outdoor shower. They busted the latch to the little wooden gate to courtyard in the process. It was a little off putting as I know they were not staying on the property. All of this though would not deter us from staying here again. The week we spent here was relaxing and a much needed break for the both of us.

Overall, our stay was okay. Location was prime and the host was very communicative. It was good to have parking - warning, the spot is very very tight and I say that as a Chicago driver with ample parking experience. We had a tiny Mitsubishi Mirage so keep that in mind if you have a larger vehicle. The pullout couch could fit two small kids but definitely not two adults. We had 3 adults and it was really a tight fit in the space. All of that said - we did have a very nice time and again, can’t get much better with the location so close to the beach.
