A 5 Star3 BR Luxury Log Cabin, Overlooking RMNP only 20 minutes from Estes Park
About this lodge
Situated in Allenspark, this attractive lodge for $604 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Our cabin is a perfect relief where at home; it's been over 90 degrees for the last month. Stay at our cabin in the Rocky Mountains, which has perfect “sleeping weather.” Our summers have daily temperatures in the 70s and cool nights in the 50s. Over the last two years, we have received 27 consecutive 5-star reviews; in the previous five years, 99 of our 107 guests gave us 5-star reviews. They appreciate the tranquility of the location, the ease of getting to RMNP, the spectacular views of the continental divide, the quality of the property, and the experiences for all ages, from kids to seniors. We have the quiet of the mountains, abundant wildlife, including moose and Elk, and a high-quality, well-furnished, cozy cabin on 5 acres of land. Our property on Coyote Hill consists of a three-bedroom luxury log cabin overlooking RMNP with spectacular panoramic views for miles across the Continental Divide. Concerned about COVID-19, our cabin is completely secluded from other travelers or rental properties. You can be completely isolated or enjoy the RMNP / Estes Park attractions. Over the last five years, our property has been rated exceptional for its quiet seclusion and luxury features. On-site family and kids activities and easy access to Estes Park and RMNP This is the place if you are looking for safe and quiet solitude that settles the soul and easy 20-minute access to Estes Park. Our cabin is 13 miles south of Estes Park on a private road on Coyote Hill. Most days, one or two cars might pass by our cabin, which is 3/4 mile up a private road. See the walkthrough video in the photo section. This year, many families are looking to take a combination staycation where they can get away but still have access via wifi for work and Zoom classes. Fully equipped with a new Star-link/ SpaceX high speed 100-250MB internet / WIFI for video, zoom, or business communications. We have several areas, including the living room desk /office area with an all-in-one Canon color printer/ copier where you can get away to do work while the family is enjoying themselves: relaxing with a book on the decks in the hot tub, with extensive kids playground activities, or exploring the 5 acres of our cabin's private property. It is more of a mountain home than a cabin. It has an open floor plan recently updated with refinished pegged hardwood floors, a kitchen, a dining area, and a great room. For sleeping, it has three bedrooms and a living room (completely separate from the great room) with a wood-burning sandstone fireplace, a cozy living room with a high-quality inflatable hide-a-bed, a rocking chair, a desk and printer for work, and bookcases. The entire cabin is furnished in a high-quality manner, including original art, oriental rugs, and several handcrafted pieces of furniture. It has great southern and western views of RMNP's Wild Basin. It sleeps nine people and includes all of the modern conveniences. Many kids' amenities include a treehouse with a slide and firepole pole, a playhouse, a sandbox, and swings. We have seven grandkids, and they all love it. View the kid's zip line called the "Flying Chicken," made for kids under 100# so they can get off and on by themselves. The location is perfect for hiking and relaxing. You will have close access to Rocky Mountain National Park and its wide range of activities. Enjoy cocktails around the wood fire pit and watch the stars or sunrise while relaxing in the hot tub. Many wildlife, including birds and small animals, frequently visit. Moose and Elk often pay a visit. It is surrounded on three sides by large decks overlooking the continental divide. The solid log cabin sits on 5 acres. It has hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings with distressed cypress paneling. There are great views from every room. You will see the sunrise or sunset over Mount Meeker as you look out the large windows in the family room from the kitchen. There are three bedrooms with high-quality queen-sized beds. The master bedroom has a handmade log bed, new mattress, skylight, private deck, and full bath. The second and third bedrooms also have vaulted ceilings, large log purloins, and mountain views. In addition to a queen bed, the third bedroom has a single bed perfect for a child. The second and third bedrooms share a bathroom and shower. There is a high-quality queen-sized adjustable /inflatable hide-a-bed in the living room. The cabin was completely remodeled in 2000 and updated in 2019 with high-quality furnishings (including several handcrafted pieces), art, and modern appliances, including a gas range, a microwave dishwasher, a side-by-side refrigerator with water and ice dispenser in the door, a trash compactor, and filtered water at the sink and refrigerator. The kitchen cabinets are maple with granite tile countertops and backsplashes. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the expected hand appliances: toasters, blenders, toaster-oven, crockpot, electric frypan, coffee grinder, coffee maker, and a full spice assortment. The cabin also has a stacked Whirlpool Duet front-loading washer, dryer, and detergent to handle your laundry needs. For entertainment, there is a 40 'Sony Plasma TV. We installed the new Starlink (Spacex) high-speed Internet, ROKU, with all major channels, including Netflix, Amazon, Disney Plus/ Expn Plus, and YouTube. The audio system is connected via Bluetooth to your iPhone player (Pandora/ Spotify) access to the sound system with multiple BOSE speakers both in and outside on the deck and hot tub. This area has no direct cell service, but you should be able to connect your iPhone via WIFI, depending on your network carrier. With 900 S/F of decks surround the cabin with log railings for relaxing outdoors. On the main deck is a sandstone wood-burning fire pit to keep you warm while you have a glass of wine, watch the sun go down, and enjoy your favorite music from Bose speakers over the deck. There is a smaller deck off the master bedroom where you can get away to read a book and view cabin rock to the north. We have installed a high-end Jacuzzi 6 person Hot Tub with a range of features, including music at one end of the deck with great views of the mountains perfect for watching the sunset, listening to your favorite music through Bose speakers mounted near the Hot tub, and on the deck, or having a cup of coffee as the sun rises in the morning, causing Mount Meeker to glow a fantastic shade of pink. Our cabin is equipped for our seven grandchildren, with swings and a playhouse cabin for smaller kids. Older kids will enjoy the incredible treehouse with a 16-foot slide, fire pole, tire swing, and tree swing. There is an old foundation with logs and lumber where older kids make huts (no tools needed). We even have a "Kids 100" zip line they can operate by themselves called the "Flying Chicken Express," where they can get on and off with our help. All but the zip line of the kid's play activities are within 30 feet of the front deck. There are about 20 cabins on our private road with no full-time residents. Most days, you will see only a car or two passing the cabin. Our property is adjacent to a 2,000-acre Boulder open space that will never be developed, so hiking is just up the hill. The cabin is very close (five miles) to the less crowded Wild Basin entrance to RMNP, where a short hike will take you to Calypso cascades and waterfall. Several longer, more challenging hikes are also options from this entrance. The Meeker Park Lodge and Stables are only three miles away for horseback riding. (Meeker Park Lodge is over 90 years old and was run up until last year by the original family. It is open between Memorial Day and October.) There is also horseback riding in Allenspark (five miles away) and the Aspen Lodge (5 miles away). One of our cabin's great features is easy access to Estes Park without the traffic and congestion of an Estes Park location. For more, at a slower pace, visit Allenspark (5 miles), which has several restaurants, including a new Rock Creek tavern for pizza and Meadow Mountain Cafe for big mountain breakfasts and healthy lunches. The Ferncliff Grocery is available as well as the Meeker Park Lodge Store for Milk and Bread (June to Oct) The cabin is 13 miles south of Estes Park, so you are only 20 minutes away from the many attractions of Estes Park, including the main entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and the world-famous Trail Ridge Road (the highest continuously paved highway in the US). The drive over Trail Ridge Road is an incredible day drive, passing over the 12,880-foot-high continental divide to Grand Lake and back. To minimize park congestion, they have implemented a timed entry process to ensure everyone can enjoy the park without overly large crowds. Estes Park has many attractions, including golf, shopping, medical facilities, and weekend festivals, including the Longs Peak Scottish Highland Festival and the Elk Fest in the fall. You will probably see more Elk in Estes Park than elsewhere in Colorado. For kids, check out the Big Slide amusement park for lots of rides and fun. There is also great miniature golf outside Estes (Estes Park Ride A Cart has two excellent courses). Estes Park Golf Course is a tremendous public 18-hole course on the way to Estes.

Amazing place and hard to describe. If you want to get away it doesn't get much better than this.

We had the best stay here and was able to relax and rejuvenate! The jacuzzi and firepit was perfect, especially after a long day of hiking at RMNP. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. We were able to grill couple times. It was the perfect place for our vacation and I recommend it for everyone.

We were pleasantly surprised by the open concept cabin, large wrap around deck, and a great full kitchen with supplies along with a grill. The kids loved the hot tub, play area and all the space.
You will want to keep in mind you are off the grid so no cell reception unless you are logged into the Cabins WiFi. The cabin is a ways up the mountain so it does take a few minutes to get down to the highway. So if you’re wanting peace and quite and some seclusion from the busy city life, this is a perfect spot.

Very nice cabin with fun activities for kids including a playground and zipline. We did the hiking trail loop direct from the cabin as well as several hikes in RMNP. Easy access to Lily Lake, Longs Peak Area, Wild Basin, and close enough yet far enough away from Estes Park for the secluded atmosphere we were looking for. Cabin creek is a pretty smooth dirt road, but Coyote Hill is more suited to high clearance vehicles. Great property!

Our family spent time here in July. We enjoyed the fact that we were about 20 minutes from Estes but still in a quiet, remote area. Our son loved the fire pit and we gathered around it most nights while listening to music through the speakers on the deck. The proximity to RMNP was a big bonus as well and we overall enjoyed our stay!

The property was as listed. The host responded and was able to resolve the issue with the hot tub. My children their spouses & my 4 grandchildren (ages 2-10) enjoyed 6 days in CO. We saw moose and elk. Our favorite activities were hiking at Wild Basin (the ranger said the water was high) & bumper boats in Estes. We also enjoyed the Alluvial Fan trail, Lilly Lake, mini golf, bumper cars, catching rainbow trout, s’mores around the fire pit, hot tub and a Rockies baseball game.

Very peaceful, beautiful, relaxing!! At the cabin we were lucky to see chipmunks, a bobcat, elk, a Golden Eagle flying above, and a beautiful moose with her spring time calf. We stayed 5 nights.
The owner kept in touch to make sure all was going well and replied quickly with any questions we were having. Could not have asked for a better person to rent from!
We are definitely looking forward to another trip with our kids and grandkids!
This is a great location to Wild Basin, Mt. Meeker, Longs Peak and the drive into Estes Park was enjoyable and easy entry way into Estes.
If you decide to stay, please keep the birds/hummingbirds feed, great relaxing entertainment while enjoying the fire on the deck or relaxing in the hot tub. (Which is amazing early morning in the cool mountain air after a long hike the day before).

The kiddos really enjoyed the outdoor playhouse and the Flying Chicken zip line. We loved the isolation from the city the cabin provided. Everyone was very comfortable on the wide assortment of sleeping options. The host was very responsive to questions and started our New Year off right with a bottle of wine.

Peaceful location in the middle of the nature and gorgeous view all around. All you need is there and you feel like home. Clean and cozy. Only few miles away from all the trails. We loved it!

My husband & I celebrated 13 yrs of wedded bliss and that I survived covid after 40 days in the hospital last year. We also celebrated that our Dad's cancer is still under control & he's a heck of a fighter. The 8 of us had the most amazing time at your beautiful cabin up on Coyote Hill, the fresh mtn. air, the abundance of wildlife, the breathtaking views and most importantly the memories made. The Head Cabin is the perfect family getaway and Denny is the best host by far of all the places we've stayed. Upon arrival we found the nicest card and a bottle of wine to kick off our week of celebrations. What few questions we had he was quick to respond and the property listing is spot on, everything we expected and more. 5 adults, 2 teens & an 11yr old stayed very comfortably, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking family meals, the 3 bedrooms all had quality comfortable beds, the 2 bathrooms were nice sized, the deck w/the hot tub offered amazing views and the fire pit was great to warm up to and make S'mores. All in all if your looking for a great getaway for the family this is the place to stay.

This secluded location was everything I wanted. Quiet neighborhood away from busy towns. Hardly noticed any neighbors around at all. The long dirt road drive off the highway is so worth it for the serenity and peace and quiet. The hot tub view is fabulous. Kids really enjoyed themselves on the zipline, tree house, hot tub, and enjoyed campfires. Plenty of movies, games, tv, netflix and wifi when the afternoon storms rolled through. This is a very spacious home with so many amenities. From movie selection, to extra towels to coffee and condiments, if you forget anything or want anything, it just might already be there!! Owner is very thorough and responsive to any questions. Responded to text fairly quickly. The house was clean, plenty of supplies, and arrival was well spelled out. Location is also Very close to rocky mountain wild basin entrance. The hike to Ouzel Falls there is much less crowded and a gorgeous trail following the river with many cascades along the way. Sore from hiking, no problem, there's a comfy home and hot tub to relax in when you return. Overall wonderful vacation home rental. Would recommend to everyone.

This property was beautiful. Truly in the mountains. The drive to the cabin was breath taking! It's so very peaceful. All we heard were birds the whole time. There is a home somewhat close, but it wasn't a big deal at all. Never saw anyone and it was very quiet. The home itself is so accomadating and welcoming. Outside we were greeted with many birds and chipmunks, which my daughter fell in love with. There is the most adorable club house for the kiddos and a zip line across from the home. It goes very fast, maybe for older kids and adults. It was so fun! The hot tub was crystal clear and very enjoyable for my family after a days hike. The beds were amazingly comfortable. Dennis gave us a bottle of wine with a very sweet note that welcomed us to his home. This vacation was so enjoyable and relaxing. Don't heaitate to stay here!

The cabin is beautiful, surrounded by mountains and nature. It is tastefully and throughtfully equipped with attention to detail. Fire pit, salt water hot tub and comfortable beds are the foundation; hints on hikes and activities are the "cherry on top." Denny thought of everything, and made himself available for any needs that arose. Highly recommended!

We rented this property for an annual Meeker Park meetup amongst my family. The cabin was perfect for our group. Clean and well maintained. The kids loved the playhouse and zipline at the property as well as the hot tub! Denny was super responsive during our stay. Would rent again and recommend to friends. The one thing I would tell my friends would be to plan for a few extra minutes to drive up/down the dirt road past cabin creek road.

Coyote Hill cabin
To say this trip was awesome is a major understatement! The cabin in Allenspark, Co is all that you would ever want and need in a vacation home. There is plenty of space to roam whether it be inside or outside. There were 9 of us and we were all very comfortable. We hiked around the property, went to Estes for dinner, went to Ferncliff for tacos and pizza as well as the gas station and grocery store. The drinking water was fresh from a spring and I miss it already. Us girls went horseback riding at Meeker Stables twice and that was great! My grandkids spent hours on the zip line as well as the playhouse and swing set. We will definitely be back to stay at this slice of heaven! Denny is very attentive and answers all of your questions very promptly. The cabin on Coyote Hill is so cozy and you can tell that the Head family takes great pride in it. There are generations of pictures all around to prove that. Thank you for a most memorable trip!

Colorado Oasis!
We had an incredible time with our friends and family. We both have young kids, so the tree house and zip line were a huge hit with them! We enjoyed the hot tub nightly, as well as the incredible views of Longs Peak and the serenity of the cabin. The place has everything you could need and more! Highly recommend!

First off, I already miss waking up and seeing the mountains out the window as I sip my 1st cup of coffee. Denny's place had everything, including comfy beds. Getting to Wild Basin and Bear Lake was quick and easy for our hikes. We spent plenty of time in Estes Park enjoying the amazing whiskey selection at the Wapiti after our hikes. The Hot Tub really helped sooth our muscles. Unfortunately, we did not get a visit from the moose but the hummingbirds personality was shining bright. They were not happy when their food was empty. This was the prefect place for our daughter's graduation get-a-way. Thank you, Denny!!

Our family had an amazing time visiting Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin quickly felt like a home away from home. Amazing amenities including an outside play area and a zip line. The deck was very pleasant with amazing views of Mt. Meeker. We saw moose from the deck as well as elk, chipmunks and hummingbirds. Our family of nine had plenty of room to spread out both inside and outside. The kitchen was perfect and everything we needed to make our stay more enjoyable was provided. Denny’s family getaway is a gem. This was our third stay and our first in early June. We enjoyed a brief snowfall and several moose sightings, even a momma with her calf. As always, our kids loved playing on the zip line and playhouse, and we all enjoyed the hot tub and fires on the deck.
Denny’s cabin has everything for a comfortable family vacation- fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, quality linens, and all kinds of things to keep kids happy and occupied. Worth every penny!

We had a great experience the first week of October, 2021. Aspen leaves glowed and the view from the cabin was fantastic. The cabin had every desired amenity, especially the quiet but for the rustling of the leaves in the trees. The playhouses were huge attractions for our grandchildren.
Highly recommend this vacation rental.

Fantastic Home away from home
This rental was exceptional! I'm so glad I picked it to stay on our getaway to Colorado. There was 7 of us ranging from mid 60s to my 2 year old son and there was something for everyone there. We also never felt crowded. We wanted a place with easy access to RMNP as well as Indian Peaks Wilderness as we are avid hikers and it was a perfect location to get to many trailheads. Apart from the house being very clean, well stocked and VERY cozy, we all enjoyed relaxing on the deck watching the birds/hummingbirds after a long day outside. We also spotted moose four different times. One time two walked right up to the deck (suprised my mother and son as they were busy playing and didn't notice at first). Lastly- if you have children, they will be in paradise! The outdoor play structures they have for kids is amazing! Thanks Denny and co! We hope we can come back one day!

Wonderful and Relaxing Cabin
We absolutely loved this cabin! It’s perfect if you’re looking for a place to kick back and relax and/or if you’re looking for a place close to endless activities! We loved the close proximity to the Wild Basin and Long’s Peak entrances to RMNP and to Estes Park! The cabin is tucked into the wilderness, making you feel like you’re truly away from the busyness of the rest of the area! We had originally planned to spend our first day in RMNP but after arriving and seeing all the cabin offered we decided to spend the first day relaxing there! We hiked the recommended route around the cabin and we enjoyed relaxing on the huge wrap-around deck and in the wonderful hot tub! There is so much to do at the cabin for people of all ages!! It was just our family of 4 (my husband, 2 adult-aged kids and myself) but there was a ton for younger kids to enjoy as well!!!
The cabin is stocked with everything you need for your stay as well! The check-in/check-out instructions were simple and straightforward which was appreciated! Dennis checked in with us a couple time to ensure all was good!
Highly recommend this wonderful, relaxing cabin with super kind hosts!!

the ideal family vacation hub
Denny's mountain cabin is perfect in every way. It offers remote tranquil beauty, but is also in a perfect location to access hikes and outdoor activities in and surrounding RMNP without getting caught up in the bustle of Estes. When we weren't enjoying fires, meals or the hot tub on the patio, we were horseback riding, fly fishing and wading in the St. Vrain River, visiting the Park, or hiking around the property. The kids put in many hours on the zipline and in the play house. Denny's birdfeeders are kept full and busy, providing great birdwatching from the deck!
The cabin is fully equipped with very comfortable beds and bedding (even the pull-out got a thumbs up from my dad), a fully stocked kitchen and grill, and pretty much anything you want for a comfortable stay. We didn't lack a thing.
This was our second vacation at the Head cabin, and I hope we have the opportunity to visit again often. It's really a special place, and we are very grateful that Denny shares it with the public!

The perfect escape with the ease of Estes Park 20min down the highway! The drive in is a little scary at first but it just ensures the best adventures possible! Excellent access to the best trails (Wild Basin and Longs Peak Entrances to The Rockies) but the peace and tranquility needed after a long day of hiking. Kids were amazed with the cabin, the outdoor fun, and the house decor/games/telescope and amazing bird watching! The house has all the little things you need when flying into the area with minimal supplies! A moose came up to the house on our last morning to ensure we had all the wildlife photos we could imagine! If we could return every summer we would :)

We had a wonderful stay in this perfect remote mountain location away from the crowds of Estes Park. Denny was a great host and this house is perfect for a family of all ages. We were lucky enough to have moose and turkeys right off the deck. Also had beautiful views of Long Peak from the deck and hot tub. The house was very well stocked with everything we needed. It is very close to RMNP as well as a short drive to Estes Park. We will definitely be back!
