Situated in Massanutten, this lovely cabin for $417 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. We are excited to offer this gorgeous property, Deer Camp Lodge, a premier property offered through Vacay Away! **Three night minimum on weekends unless otherwise approved by owners** We do require additional documentation to be reviewed and signed prior to arrival. If we can accommodate an early arrival or late check out, there is a $50 fee, for each. The Early Arrival time is 2pm and the Late Check out time is 12pm. We, however, CANNOT confirm any early arrivals or late check outs until 2 days prior to your arrival. So please do not contact us until then. We allow pets but there is a $35/night per pet fee which we will request separately. We provide guests with the privacy that they want but are only a message away if you need anything! Location is wonderful, and house had a lovely style with modern updates, especially to bathrooms. Convenient to amenities of resort. Probably biggest let down was kitchen; if you're not planning to cook or have more than a cup of coffee, you're fine, but it was really poorly organized and quality of utensils and pots and pans was poor (scratched up really bad). Second oven didn't work upon arrival, so we couldn't use it as planned for Thanksgiving where we were cooking for 15 ppl. Despite notifying managers immediately (Wed), they couldn't offer assistance until following Mon. (five days later and day AFTER check out). Basic things like serving dishes, measuring cups, matching lids with containers and kitchen scissors would go far. Cleanliness was lacking and could use more attention to detail - don't look under beds or couch cushions (found socks from other guests and layers of dust, as well as substantial food bits). Master bath door knob was falling off, a living room outlet was severely loose, such that wires were exposed and we had to ensure kids didn't go near. An outlet near stove didn't work. Vacuum cleaner provided didn't work. Downstairs is substantially colder than the upstairs (folks upstairs were hot, while guests staying downstairs were freezing) - a large area rug would go far on the cold concrete floor, as well as a storm door or better sealing to the outside from the dwnstrs exterior doors. Not really well stocked for a house full of guests.

Great house, very clean, linens and sheets were all quality and enough to cover 18 guests. The kitchen was also well stocked, better than any other cabin rental I've used. The property is inside a resort, which provides mini-golf, golf, virtual top golf, a pool, go-karts, hiking, and other recreational options. We found a grassy spot to play football and listen to music. Will definitely be looking to rent this property again in the future

The house is located on Massanutten resort; just minutes away from the water park, restaurants and other amenities. We enjoyed the thought put into the decor, the entertainment and really appreciated the large kitchen/dining area. The bedrooms are not large but aside from sleeping our family was out in the common areas or enjoying nearby amenities so that didn’t bother us. For those of you with children worried about the white sofas pictured, they must have recently upgraded becaused we were relieved to find a large gray sectional that we felt comfortable allowing the littles to sit on.

The host was very accommodating and responded to messages very quickly. The house was very spacious and seemed to be recently renovated. The driveway wasn't nearly as bad as some other reviews stated, just took some getting used to. Would definitely look for this home when we visit again!

We rented this home for our family Christmas vacation. The updates in the home appeared nice.
Although the vent over the stove did not work.
The gas stove was scary. The flames were unregulated and I was afraid to use it out of safety concerns. One eye had to be lit with a lighter. The kitchen was equipped with two ovens, but one keep cutting off in the middle of cooking.
The dishes and supplies were dirty with food. We found very little usable items to cook with. The kitchen required a deep cleaning before we could utilize it and it needs additional supplies for cooking.
We were required to make our beds with provided linen. It was noted - to guarantee us bed linens were fresh. Sheets appeared clean. The mattress pads were missing on bunk beds for the kids. Bunk bed mattresses were dirty with stains. The other beds had mattress pads. A few of them smelled and we had to wash them before using.
All pillows were dirty and stained!! Fortunately, we brought our own pillows.
The fireplace did not work. We called maintenance and the gentleman responded promptly. He was able to start the fireplace, but unable to fix the stove vent, eyes or lights. Shortly after he left the fireplace quit working again
There was only enough hot water for 2 showers in the morning and we had 11 people.
We found the overall cleanliness of the cabin unacceptable. We had to perform a thorough cleaning upon arrival. We did the best we could with the provided non-working vacuum cleaners. We had to purchase Swiffer pads to clean the hardwood floors.
The hot tub smelled and the water appeared unsanitary.
While we made the best of our vacation, we had to spend a great deal of our time cleaning upon arrival. We left the property much cleaner than we found it.
It could be a much nicer property with the proper cleaning and maintenance. We have enjoyed several Christmas vacations at Massanutten and this is the first time we have provided such a negative review.

Size of house was perfect for our group of 10. Our first morning for breakfast we realized we did not have enough utensils for everyone. The host was extremely responsive and made sure to have some delivered promptly.

Our family stayed here to celebrate a group of birthdays. No issues with the hot water. Property was easy to find, the driveway is short so for a large group - discuss carpooling.

The driveway honestly almost ruined this experience for us. It's a nice house (don't let the pictures fool you though, it's not 100% on the upgrades.. living room outlets are hanging out of the wall, oven doesn't heat evenly or hold heat, small things all over that are kind of sus).
But the driveway is so steep and desperately needs to be flattened. Looks like water running over it over time has made it nearly impossible for your average sedan to get in. My husband's car was balanced on two wheels, twice, trying to get in. It was really scary for me to watch. We had two cars, one SUV, and one small truck. Ended up parking the SUV and the truck in the driveway and moving the other two cars because it was way too treacherous for them. Lots more details I could say here but that covers the biggest point.

I feel like that sort of service is unheard of these days so wanted to share this review.
Only complaint- cheap water proof mattress covers on all the beds made for a noisy sleeep. Suggest putting something over these and it would make for a better night’s sleep.
And then the odd thing here and there…mayo packets under a couch cushion, tissue, etc. just needs a little extra tlc from the cleaning crew I suppose.
But other than that - great stay!

The hot tub on the deck is a nice size for four and secluded by the trees and woods during summer. This seclusion though comes with a lot of bugs. A screened in porch would make the hot tub more enjoyable/usable during summer nights. Overall, we would recommend this house and stay again.

Our group consists of seven women who have remained friends for 40+ years. We enjoy visiting the wineries, riding the ski lift and enjoying a drink or two at the Base Camp. We had a blast in the Escape Room last year, literally, we couldn't solve the mystery in time and were blown up. Our favorite activity is relaxing, catching up with each other and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We highly recommend the Deer Camp Lodge and renting from Brian and Sara.

We had a great time in Massanutten and did some awesome hikes. The house had some cleanliness issues but, they were taken care of immediately by the owner and we were very thankful for that. The Hot Tub was unusable but the owner gave us a refund for that inconvenience so, we were thankful for that. Responsive owner.
