Hospitalidad extraordinaria. Se adaptaron a nuestros requisitos como grupo. Exquisitos en el trato y en la ayuda para encargo taxi por ejemplo.

It was such a wonderful place. Staff was excellent. Very close to Gojo Station and a 10 min walk from Kyoto Station. Rina-San was OUT OF THIS WORLD! She was so helpful our entire stay and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. She is EXCEPTIONAL! Everything was super clean.

We loved staying at a traditional place like Matsubaya Ryokan. Great breakfast (choose between japanese style or western style). Recommend to book the private bath in steaming hot water one evening (1 hour) - very relaxing.

The room and bathroom was very clean and cozy. We slept on futon beds which were comfortable. You do have to make your own futon bed and instructions are provided. During the day we folded the beds so we could use the low table and chairs which are also present in the room. When the beds are laid out there isn't much space left, but we could store the luggage in the closet. The staff is friendly and helpful. We also used the Japanese bath which I can recommend but be ware, the water is really hot. Our last day we had breakfast here and it was good. The location is good and the room we stayed in was quiet. There are convenient stores and restaurants nearby and several busses leave from nearby. Kyoto station is a bit more then a 10 minutes walk away.

The cutest cozy little place, the futons are actually so comfortable, they had free water and an awesome beer vending machine inside the ryokan. I accidentally left my wallet after checkout and they found it and held on to it until I picked it up, love them
No ac inside the hotel and room ac only turns on when you have the key inside the room so it’ll get hot when you leave and come back to your room.

not much to be honest, maybe the fact that we had a full apartment with both traditional Japanese beds (futon) and western style kind of beds. Spots for taking nice pictures for social media
It's not a real authentic ryokan, maybe only the ground floor. The rest is quite recent (from the 80s?) and built to look like a kind of ryokan, but in reality it is not. You have some perks of the modern housing, such as fridge, TV, airco, etc, but it doesn't feel authentic at all. Breakfast is an absolute scam, almost nothing not eat, and I had to pay almost 4 eur for 2 extra bread slices!!!!! absolutely outrageous!!!! For the price they ask, and the overall experience you get, I would not recommend it.

The room was lovely and it was great having green tea available. The staff were lovely and very helpful.
The garden view was not really a garden but a few plants in a narrow outdoor space! I think the description should be changed. The breakfast was fully booked which was disappointing. The recommendation should be much stronger that if you want breakfast you must order in advance, then I would have done!

The staff were great and hospitable, the hotel looked amazing and clean but...
Our first reaction on walking in was that our room smelled like urine. It stayed for the whole night and we had to blast the ac to dull it a little. They also have a massage that you can purchase and no insult to the ladies but we were expecting a deep tissue good rubbing for our sore shoulders and bodies. What we got were two, albeit sweet and lovely, older ladies who weren't able to go very rough. It was a wasted hour and 50$. This was most expensive hotel of our trip and wa squite a let down for the money every other hotel has felt good for the money spent this felt like we were robbed, and I'm really sad to say that.

I wanted to stay in a Ryokan, and made my decision based on a combination of location, price, and availability of my own room as a solo traveller. The room was compact (3 tatami mats, plus an extra wooden floor area at the side and an entrance area) but clean and comfortable and contained everything I needed. The air conditioning was really good in the hot weather and the shared shower was directly opposite my room. I found the provided yukata very comfortable for sleeping and I also liked that the provided slippers for use inside the ryokan (eg when going downstairs to breakfast) were slider-style so you can wear them with socks :) I also did my laundry here with the coin laundry on the top floor, and was able to buy a laundry detergent pod from the front desk which was very convenient.
The location was great - near to the station for arriving and leaving, and going on day trips, and just around the corner from several different convenience stores. In the evening I liked walking around the shops near the station, and the ryokan is right next to Higashi Hongan-ji Temple which is very impressive day or night when it is all lit up.
Even though there is an option to take a bath at the ryokan, I decided I wanted to try a super-sento instead, so I went on a trip to sagano onsen tenzan-no-yu, which I combined with a visit to Arashiyama bamboo grove which was beautiful (and cooler) in the early evening.
The Japanese breakfast was delicious, and I enjoyed the variety of dishes served on the different mornings. Western breakfast is also an option, but I highly recommend the Japanese breakfast as it gives you a lot of energy for the day and you can enjoy the many side dishes :)
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and I would not hesistate to recommend you to stay here.
I recommend that you check your booking details before you arrive, as I forgot that I had already paid for my stay via booking.com (I had many different bookings and so I was confused) but was asked to pay upon my arrival. Later on I realised that I had in fact already paid before my arrival, so I went downstairs and the mistake was remedied immediately. It was also my mistake!

it was a cute place with warm and friendly staff. We were sad to leave!
the room was a bit tight. it would have been nice to have a little more room, but nice that we had enough space for our three suitcases.

Traditional ryokan. The staff were very helpful and amazing! Showed us around the ryokan before our check in and gave us tips where to eat good but cheap food! They have a private bath which was amazing! You can choose your bath soak, also it is for booking only so we chose the last booking time. The room is spacious, the beds are futon so you can fold them and have more space to move around. The toilet and shower is decent. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided with toothbrush and toothpaste.
They also kept our luggages before and after check in so we can roam around Kyoto freely.
The location is a bit far from the train station to tug around your luggage.

Staff were very welcoming and helped with any questions we had for dinner reservations or recommendations in Kyoto. Fun experience of trying a traditional Japanese room.
No tea provided in room to use with provided kettle and tea cups.

Great traditional style inn with plenty of modern amenities so you can still relax in comfort. Staff are very friendly and speak great English if your japanese isn't jouzu.
Location is nice and central, close to transport and sightseeing spots.
Highly recommend the Japanese breakfast and prepared baths.

Our room was nice and cozy, and had a nice view of a small garden. The staff was great. Breakfast was included. It was possible to book for a private bath, which was great. Location is walking distance from Kyoto Station.

As we decided to extend our stay, we received an upgrade to a room with small zen garden! What a delight and gracious ryokan service.
We also appreciated various eco-friendly gestures, such as if we didn't require housekeeping linen/towel change, we'd receive two bottles of mineral water. Thank you!
