Memorable stay in Mossel Bay

Attention to every detail. Immaculately clean. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Breakfasts on the stoep were a highlight. Enjoyed spending time in the lounge for a drink and had fun in the 1920s speakeasy bar hidden under the... Highly recommended for a memorable stay in Mossel Bay.

Very relaxing

Quirky . Nice friendly & helpful owners/staff Had honesty box with crisps, nuts & chocolate for you to have if peckish!! Also a supply of wine which you could add to your bill & an honesty bar with spirits etc if required.

Wouldn’t return as not good value however the local staff & the quirky bar enhanced our stay,

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Welcome drink on arrival. Quirky underground bar. Very pleasant sitting room.

Room wasn’t so private (Royal suite) due to guests could sit right in front of both windows as day/ evening seating & breakfast area. As room was a little dark - was conscious of lights being on in our room so forced to close curtains & aware of the noise levels. We requested a cheeseboard for 2 people & appreciated that Marcia obliged in making this up for us although she said only 2 cheeses were available. Management/Owner introduction on check out & shock at the excessive price that was charged as was totally inflated by South African standards, 495R for a platter that other landlords have confirmed would have not even cost half this amount - as Brits ourselves felt ripped off - absolutely no reflection on the wonderful staff though.

A great choice for our stop over on the Garden Route!

Fabulous family run hotel in a good location for exploring Mossel Bay. Loved all the decor and the breakfast choice was great. Everyone so friendly and helpful - thoroughly recommended!

Very enjoyable with brilliant staff

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Every room is individual with its own character - the exact opposite of big corporate hotels.

It’s a steep up hill walk back from the beach area.

British Estate flair in South Africa

Very friendly and welcoming host! Amazing place, you feel like you're in a British estate. Everything is furnished and decorated with love for the detail. There's an amazing speakeasy underneath the hotel porch. Great view from the porch, very good breakfast, friedly staff. Overall, we really liked our stay here and will definitely recommend & come back!

Wonderful lovely place! We loved our SPA room, feels like in a fairytale. Owner and staff are welcoming and friendly, had a great chat. We had only one night and no time to enjoy the pool table, fireplace and a hidden basement bar...

We loved this quirky accommodation! From the quint decking area, where breakfast and afternoon tea is served, to the themed bedrooms with personalised touches. Betty’s was really special. We loved the basement bar too!

Super cute boutique hotel

We stayed in the Rose Suite, bed was large and comfortable and the shower was great. Both Lewis and Marcia were really welcoming and helpful. The whole property is super quirky - think old school English elegance. The terrace was great for breakfast and welcome drink with fab views over the bay. Breakfast itself also good, some fruit, yoghurt and muesli whilst you wait for the cooked options.

Location is up on a hill so away from the bustle of the town. Walking back up that hill was killer! You do of course have the option to drive down.

Lewis is a fantastic host. We liked the general state of the hotel as well as the decor. Mix and match that seems to work well. Ideally a 2-3 day stay will do more justice to what is offered. Certainly my next stop in Mossel Bay

Good value

Breakfast was excellent. Love drinking tea out of bone china. The presentation of fruit muesli and yoghurt was so much nicer than trekking to a buffet table. My poached eggs were cooked perfectly.

No hot shower in the morning. My bad luck. Our host explained the exceptional circumstance that caused the unusual problem. Should not affect future guests

Amazing staff, amazing views and super location

Lewis and all staff were great. Super helpful, booking restaurant’s, taxis, game drives etc Bed lovely and comfortable, lovely hot and powerful shower. Great breakfast with amazing views. Was also lovely to meet David and Wendy. We had a great chat and got some recommendations for playing golf which we’ve booked. Will definitely be back. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Perfect place to stay in Mossel Bay.

Very special place with old English mansion and authentic tea house vibes. Host was very kind and everything easily accessible. There was parking for our car on site.

Absolutely amazing stay here. Very friendly welcome, Lewis is a great host and gave us some backstory to the property and how it got its name etc. The room was clean, had everything you could wish for (tea, hair dryer etc.) And just had the cutest details, just like the rest of the house. Really invited you to explore and was just so unique. In combination with the fantastic breakfast, the wonderful view, and the great staff, this has been our most memorable stay in South Africa! We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family should they come travel through this area.

A good layover on route

Something different. The breakfast was great! Liked the pool and children’s play area.

A little tired around the edges, finer details not looked at. Walls very thin so can hear other families in property. Very bright lights on plug sockets and AC unit which meant a disturbed sleep for baby.
