Great treatment, care of details and amazing breakfast.

Throughout our stay, we received amazing reception and attention. The attention to detail was impeccable, contributing greatly to our comfort. Moreover, the breakfast offered was truly incredible. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Nothing! Everything was perfect! From the map it looks like it's away from the historic center, but it's actually just 15 minutes walking to the center, which was completely fine by us (we even got spectacular views from the University of Coimbra from our room).

Surreal homely experience you wouldn’t want to leave!!

To start with the owners were so welcoming, I felt as if I walked into my own home. They were very accommodating and helpful with plans and top tips. The guest house itself was impeccable, everything 10/10, the breakfast was better than any top star hotel I’ve stayed in. I can’t thank the owners enough for making this stay so memorable, i will definitely be back!

A real gem

We were given a warm welcome by Paula, who provided us with lots of information and recommendations, along with a map. CoimbraAmeias is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with so much attention to detail. We loved our room and all of the common areas. The lovely buffet breakfast, so beautifully laid out, was taken in the garden, with great views across Coimbra. This was a home from home!

Perfect hosts and a great guesthouse

Paula and Luiz are great hosts. Paula introduced Coimbra to us like a historian and gave us good tips about where to go and dine. Luiz makes super artistic 5-star breakfasts. Their guest house is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We have enjoyed our stay and definitely will revisit them in the future!

Park the car and walk into town.

Firstly Paula was such a delight. she did everything to make sure we had an enjoyable stay; from giving us an orientation to Coimbra and Portuguese history over a glass of port, booking a great Fado concert for us, to recommending an excellent family run restaurant. Then there was the superlative breakfast served by Luiz on the sunny verandah overlooking Coimbra, and the accommodation building Paula has so beautifully restored. When Paula’s friend delivered fresh blueberries she brought us a bowl of berries to eat while we read in the sun - she said she wanted us to feel at home but it was better than home! The location was easy to drive to without entering the busier streets of Coimbra but be ready for the steep driveway. it was lovely to be able to leave the car for the duration of our visit and walk 15 minutes to the main square.

The best guesthouse I have ever been!

Everything was amazing, Paula and her family are lovely I can't wait to go again. We had beautiful days in their guesthouse, I felt at home visiting dear friends. I think is the most welcoming adorable experience I have ever had. The breakfast is a dream come true. Thank you for everything! Hope to see you soon :)

Great reception and location

The reception by Paula when we arrived was like no other, and breakfast by Jose was amazing. Not only the things from the breakfast buffet, he would always bring something freshly made for us - and all delicious. Really like staying at home with a caring family! The building is fully renovated, nicely decorated and has a great location, 10 min from the city center. Definitely would recommend if visiting Coimbra.

it was wonderful. I just wish we spoke more Portuguese so we could truly say how much we appreciated the stay.

we loved absolutely everything! the decor is so sweet and everything is spacious and comfortable. the owners go out of their way to provide good serious. the breakfast was amazing. I will definitely come back. one of the days we stayed poured rained all day and we didn’t care. we stayed in and relaxed.

We stayed in the separate guest house, it was lovely and comfortable. Paula really took her time to get us settled and helped plan our trip around Coimbra. The breakfast was amazing. It felt like a home, eating lunch in the outdoor sitting area made our stay.

We had a lovely stay and wished it could have been longer. We were greeted by the owner and given lots of information about where to go and what to see and eat etc. We had the most amazing breakfast. The room and house were beautifully furnished and very comfortable.

Perfect place to stay in Coimbra

A beautifully decorated, super comfortable, luxurious home away from home. The attention to detail is fabulous, Paula is very talented with interior design and also with suggestions on where to eat, what to visit and also the history of Coimbra. Breakfast on the patio overlooking the city was a bonus, as was being able to view the city lights at night... wish we could have stayed longer!

It's a bit tricky finding the driveway entrance to the property. Google maps told us it was on the left going up the hill, when actually it is on the right.

Welcoming

Beautiful home with a great view across the river valley towards the University. Wonderful breakfast buffet plus a terrific hot egg dish. Owners and staff were very friendly.

. Location was good but not great. . It is a 15 minute walk downhill beside a busy road, to the old centre ( or you could drive and park at the pay lot). It is a long hot walk uphill beside a busy road to get home. We chose to take an Uber a couple of times. . Getting into the house's parking area is a challenge as it is a short but very steep entrance., with no room to " take a run at it".

Lovely place, everything is like new, perfectly clean and shiny, the bed was also large and comfortable. The hosts are impeccable, so warm and friendly. The breakfast was lovely, fresh local delicies made with care, fantastic.

Some road noise but only a minor issue.

This was the best place we have stayed!

We were so warmly greeted and made to feel so welcome. Paula offered us a glass of port as we checked in and she explained the map of Coimbra and gave us suggestions. Our room was bright and sunny; the whole house was done with such a regard for its history. We cannot say enough wonderful things about Coimbra Ameias!

Only that we hadn’t planned to stay longer!

The place is amazing, the thought for details was in the reconstruction of the house, interior decoration of the main space and our room which was beautiful. The owner was so friendly. The room was also clean and comfortable. Breakfest was so good and estatic. We would love going back there.

A classy property with kind staff, outstanding in every way.

A first-class property! Beautifully decorated to the highest quality- enchanting upcycled antiques and sparkling clean modern comforts. Paula is such a welcoming host, and she and her brother-in-law provide a stunning breakfast! Such kindness and attention to detail. We stayed just one night and left wishing it could be longer… Thanks for a delightful stay.

There is parking at the property- it’s a bit tricky coming out, but Paula helped us.

Fantastic find with lovely hosts

Everything from the moment we stepped through the door. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful host, Paula. Accommodation spotless and beautifully decorated. The room was extremely comfortable with views across to Coimbra city centre and a good size en-suite. Plenty of choice for breakfast, all fresh and beautifully presented and served. Paula helped with recommendations of places to visit, eat and listen to Fado. A wealth of information and as a bonus she booked the restaurants, Fado and the taxi which was extremely helpful. Plus her recommendations were perfect.

Nothing to dislike. It is a slight walk to the centre of Coimbra and the guest house is situated on a slight hill. To us this was an advantage but some guests might prefer to be in the centre, although he would be much noisier!

AMAZING

Stay at CoimbraAmeias was superb! Our hosts, Paola and Luis were very helpful and made us feel like we are staying at home. I definitely recommend this guesthouse and can't wait to go back again! All facilities were outstanding, amazing room, garden and view on Coimbra. And breakfast was special, homemade jams and the best quality regional products.

A Magic Place one should stay while touring Coimbra

The precinct is a blend of comfort, excellent taste and outstanding breakfast thanks to Paula, Luis and the very very very professional and amicable staff. This is the very place one should choose for his soujor in beautiful Coimbra.

Parking is private but needs driving skills to get in and out. Anyway, I wouldn't put it in the "what didn't you like" category 'cos this bed and breakfast is simply fantastico!!!!

Very pleasant stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to other guests (but note the location).

Very comfortable stay and breakfast was great.

Nothing to dislike about the property or service but the location is further away from the centre than we would have liked (but we knew that at the time of booking).
