Breakfast was super! Rooms comfortable and clean. Easy check in.

Attracted with "old", and that's it, no charm, and badly maintained.
Only possible contact by telephone. The lady, Evelina, should be sacked, unpleasant style. The illusion of an old style hotell is sold, but no warmth and no service.
Read all the low ratings and you know you should avoid this place.

Breakfast OK but not outstanding. Beautifully situated by the lake.
We had booked a room with two single beds. We got a room with one double, and no staff available to change it. When we told the staff next morning, we just got a smile and "sorry, my mistake". The room was very small and the entrance door and the door to the bathroom crashed into one another. We shall not stay there again.

The rooms, the environment, the view, the breakfast, the staff - everything was perfect!
Paying extra to bring a dog.

The location was perfect. At the edge of the town, next to the lake. There is the possibility to use a bicycle.

The location is wonferful with a large coastal area right outside your window. The center is also nearby with many restaurants and a few stores to shop at. The room was tidy, cozy and had an old-school charm to it.
The price for the hotel is quite high when considering the size of the room and the amenities you get for it. However, it is still enough for those looking for a short stay.

Small, but nice hotel at a very beautiful location. Convinient check-in by receiving pin code to your phone. Limited breakfast but it contains almost everything you want. A 300 meter walk takes you to good restaurants in the city. We would definitely come back if we return to Strängnäs. Parking for free just outside the hotel at a public spot.

Breakfast options are just a very few, however good enough! the location was good with a nice view :) the bed was comfortable and the room very clean.
the walls are very thin and i could hear the room next to me, my neighbor would wake up at 4 am and i had to hear the shower, the walking, etc, therefore hard for me to have a longer period of sleep.

Good breakfast. And location.

Location at the water was great. When sitting at the window you have a good look to the waters. The breakfast was fine, nothing special. The rooms look cozy and there was sufficient space to work from the hotel room.
Shower was a little bit at the small side. Next time when I come over I make sure to use the sauna :). This time found out a little bit too late.

Nice staff, lovely old building tastefully maintained and great location at lakeside and near to town facilities. Very clean and comfortable.
Internet was a bit hit or miss but seems to be that way throughout Strangnas.

The location was absolutely stunning. Close to everything, yet very relaxing.
A welcoming attitude from the staff would have been appreciated. Breakfast passable.

Strängnäs is not a very attractive town but the hotel is situated directly on the shores of Lake Malar, with just a quiet road in between. The light is wonderful and one can cross the road and have a swim, whenever one likes for instance shortly after dawn. Not a proper bathing place in front of the hotel but one can improvise and get into the water fairly easily - it is surprisingly warm. At least it was, this July. You can also get out of the water again, otherwise you might end up as part of a comedy sketch.
Swedish casual: I wanted to depart early on my final day and it was no problem to make my own breakfast - including fresh coffee from the coffee machine. Not the full breakfast, of course, but that was okay.
Family run hotel? But it does not feel like that. The decor in my room was in dark brown, as in the 1970s, the sort of place where a traditional 'commercial traveller' would have stayed. Hardly cheerful for a holiday stay. (Business people will appreciate that there is an iron in the room.) In my opinion this is hardly a hotel at all, more a 'boarding house' or pension. Staff is only present for cleaning etc: the only staff member I encountered at all was neither friendly nor unfriendly - just indifferent. Family member or not? I do not know.
It is hard to understand why one is not supposed to eat in the pleasant garden, or in the rooms, as a notice states. After all, the 'hotel' does not serve food or drink apart from breakfast. There is no one there to cook or serve meals. (There are a few eating things that one can buy on trust: nuts and the likes. But no alcoholic drinks).
To make a general remark: In Sweden, better-class hotels are much the same as everywhere in Europe. But ordinary, middle-class hotels tend to be well below European standards in many ways, not least in service, and staff presence in general. Nevertheless, such premises are not cheap. If you are travelling on a budget (as I was...) it is generally more interesting to stay at private accomodation.
