Great staff, Clean and good breakfast
Room i was at the back of the hotel with people using the back entrance smoking and chatting into the small hours with bright lights and doors opening and closing
Room was stuffy and could do with a fan to get the air round and softer pillows would be better

Breakfast was lovely, staff serving very pleasant. Provided gluten free option. But I wasn't allowed it on the second day so can't comment on thst. . I couldn't get down to breakfast as was painful for my back using the stairs and i hadnt slept because of a bad mattress. Marie said I couldn't eat in the room. Steve helped us with our luggage and was very helpful.
Bed was the most uncomfortable one I've ever slept in. Old and hard even with a topper on. Steve did give us extra quilt to sleep on bit it dudnt help. I let Marie know next day but she wasn't empathetic or apologetic. We didnt sleep well for both nights we were there and I couldn't have breakfast on the second day due to painful back, so I couldn't get up in time and Marie said my husband couldn't bring anything upstairs for me to eat in the room, she didn't even offer some toast!
We were not allowed to iron in the room , no iron or board provided. Marie said I had to go downstairs to use it but I have a disability and so does my husbsnd so it was painful going up and down 2 flights of stairs, especially as my back was very sore from the bad mattress.. But she went out to the shop and I couldn't find her all evening to open the room for me to do it anyway. She didn't let me know if she did come back.
No fans provided and it was very warm.
Street noise at night was very loud

The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast with really good dining room service.
I had a single room which was a little cramped. The shower and toilet facilities were also cramped. For the money I paid I thought the room was substandard. I have stayed at much better accommodation in better situations at a less expensive price.

Great location, amazing breakfast and daily towels.
Carpets need hoovering properly. Lots of dust around the edges, especially near the bed and underneath. Cleaners need to check round properly by the beds etc after check out as we found a pack of paracetamol on the floor. Not a big deal to us because my child is older but could’ve been bad for someone with younger children.

Location great, close to town center but away from the hussle,
Quiet side street.
Car parking was a challenge until one understood IOM rules.
Room 4 was great with a sea view from the window, Interesting slope to the floor - not an issue just interesting!
Maria and Steve, great people, looked after us well, would stay there again.
The weather could have been kinder unfortunately neither Maria or Steve have influence there!!

Nice little hotel just off the promenade, very convenient for public transport and a short walk into Douglas town or an even shorter bus ride, the bus stop is at the bottom of the road. Also a short walk to the Electric Tram station. Our family room was very comfortable and breakfast was good too. We were able to leave our luggage on check out until later in the day.
We arrived by ferry and caught a bus to the property, basically any bus going along the promenade will take you there, get off at the Empress Hotel.
Bathroom was rather small

The breakfast was very good and there was a typical Manx cooked breakfast every day, with other options.
The lack of wi-fi in our room. It was clearly stated that wi-fi was available free of charge throughout the property. On the first evening I could get no connection and told Mine Host next morning. He said that internet contractors had been working in the vicinity and there had been some disruption to service, but he would try to reset everything. However at no time in our seven-day stay did I obtain wifi in our room. I now know what it must have been like living in the Stone Age!

The room was clean, comfortable and accessible. The staff accommodated our extra need of another bed for one more person on our first night which was excellent and helped us out a lot. We loved staying there and I cannot thank the staff enough for accommodating our extra needs.
The toilet was a little cramped and the shower a little small but apart from that the room exceeded expectations especially for the price.

Extremely clean and in good shape. Probably one of the cleanest places I've stayed. Very good location, central in Douglas. Breakfast was really tasty with a good choice. Room had everything you need: Desk, hair dryer, TV, kettle, teas, etc. Near good restaurants. Room was cleaned daily and bed made - that was a nice touch that I didn't expect. Chef is good at cooking eggs.
Mattress wasn't comfortable. Wifi on top floor was intermittent. Walls are quite thin so could hear my neighbour snoring. Wasn't a fan of the shower gel - nothing wrong with it but I didn't like the smell. Didn't like the sausages - need better quality sausages.

Good location to explore the island with a bus stop at the end of the road. A short walk to the Steam and Electric Railways. Room was very clean and coffee topped up daily.
