Hummingbird Cabin - Llama, Petting Goats, Fresh Eggs, Hot Tub and Hiking Trails
About this cabin rental
Located in Swannanoa, this lovely cabin for $316 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. A great house nestled in the mountains. Property has a small farm with a llama, petting goats, and chickens. You won't be awakened by a rooster because we don't have one. Do chickens lay eggs without a rooster? They do. A rooster is only needed if you want to have fertilized eggs that hatch. Our hens are laying eggs for breakfast. We will love to offer you fresh eggs or you can gather them yourself, although we can't guarantee it because their laying schedule is somewhat inconsistent. This rustic cabin with modern amenities is in a picturesque setting with a very comfortable layout. Only 15 minutes to downtown Asheville. Uber/Lyft to enjoy the amazing craft breweries and restaurants. Beautiful Hiking trails on property, both easy trails and one up to the ridge line up top. Two master king bedrooms, one with in suite bathroom and one with a Jack and Jill bathroom. Two living areas, one with a set of bunk beds, one with a Lazy Boy sofa pull out queen bed with Slumber Comfort air mattress. Two covered porches and large back deck overlooking the hot tub and fire pit. Hiking trails on property, free wifi and free firewood. Used quilts, blankets and linens are laundered after every guest. Owners live on property. We don't allow parties or events of any kind with people coming off property. We are in a cove where noise travels and to be good neighbors we cannot allow loud music or excessive noise.

Really enjoyed our stay! Kids loved playing with the animals, which were all very friendly. We also spotted deer and a coyote during our stay. My son and I enjoyed hiking the ridgeline trail; it was a little steeper than we imagined it would be but that added to the adventure. Comfy beds and lots of room to spread out. The only thing that gave us some trouble were the shower nozzles in the bathrooms but we eventually figured them out. Good proximity to grocery shopping and other necessities.

This place was fantastic. The location to the town was very close. The onsite trails they have were a good challenge for my kids and I. The farm was amazing. The property owners we had met on our hike and were so kind and welcoming. The cabin/home was comfortable and very spacious for my family. We will be coming back again!

Cabin was very clean and spacious. Six of us and two dogs stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The animals were a real plus. We had breakfast with the fresh eggs too. We would come back without hesitation.

I usually do not leave reviews in general but I highly value other peoples reviews on VRBO. I am compelled to tell everyone how perfect this rental is! There are goats, chickens, and a Llama. There is firewood and cast iron fireplaces. There is a fully stocked kitchen. There are fresh eggs! There is coffee beans and a grinder. There is a hot tub. There are sleep number beds. The list goes on and on! The drive in was very easy,- no need for 4wd. It was only 10 minutes to Asheville and about 20 minutes from really anyplace we wanted to go. My son (8 year) LOVED the farm and wanted to go everyday and pet the animals. It was so perfect and the owners are doing a really great job. You will not be disappointed. We will 100% be back.

We all had so much fun!

What a wonderful spot. Off the beaten path, yet close enough to things. The Biltmore was the main reason for coming to Asheville, but also toured the towns and did some hiking.
Fresh eggs awaited us along with so many amenities. Couldn’t have a fire due to burn ban, but enjoyed evenings on the deck and utilized the hot tub. The hot tub is a bit dated but good enough.

This is our fourth trip to Hummingbird and the sister Creekside cabins and we have loved each visit and season. Place is spacious, well appointed and provisioned. The fresh eggs were amazing and the llama, goats and chickens added a new dimension to this visit. Love the well-marked walking trails. Will visit again!!

This was a great place to get away for a few days. I loved how close downtown Asheville was but you still feel secluded. The goats were so cute! We enjoyed visiting with them in the mornings. We were really excited to use the gas grill but sadly it was out of gas! The kitchen however had everything we needed. The hot tub was great for the chilly nights. Beds were super comfy as well! Overall a great spot :)

Very close to Ashville and Black mountain. Perfect property for a family to get away but not too far away. Hosts are very friendly, communicative, and responsive. Awesome experience. Will be back.

We stayed for 5 nights on an annual hiking trip with our friends. We had a wonderful time! The cabin is beautiful and very clean. We got to meet and feed the goats and chickens and Pearson, the llama. One of the owners, Kevin, greeted us and gave us a bucket of straw to feed the goats with. The cabin is in a great location. It’s quiet and feels secluded but it’s close to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Thanks for hosting us! If we return to Asheville, you will be our first choice for accommodations.

Gracious hosts, beautiful accommodations and 10 - 20 minutes away from plenty of Asheville great spots! Highly recommend for families with younger children. We went with our 3 year old and he loved the animals!

We chose this property because it was pet-friendly and had the added bonus of having farm/petting animals on the property. The owners were super nice and very responsive to every question. The house itself was very clean and accommodating. The sleep number bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, and we prepared breakfast (including farm fresh eggs from the owners' hens) every day and dinner four out of the seven nights we were there. It was an easy (20 minute) drive to downtown, the Biltmore, and the Grove Park Inn. We enjoyed getting to know Pearson, the llama, the six goats, and the fifteen hens. We were not allowed to take our dog into their pasture, but we took him to the fence. Pearson came over to him and seemed to know instinctively that our fifteen year old Frankie who is nearly blind and deaf was vulnerable. They were nose to nose checking each other out. We'll always remember Pearson's gentle nature with our little dude. An added bonus was that we got to see a mama bear with her two cubs in our yard one day. The hot tub was clean and ideal for a cool evening. The photos on VRBO do not do this place justice. It was much nicer than the photos depict. We'd recommend this property to any animal/nature lover and to any pet owner who likes to take Fido on vacation. We would also recommend Twisted Laurel for a dog-friendly restaurant, Jettie Rae's octopus, Jerusalem Garden's vegetarian plate, and the Bee Charmer's honey.

This was the perfect spot for our three-generation long weekend in the mountains! The location is convenient to get to and an easy drive to Black Mountain or Asheville. The outdoor space is AMAZING and provides ample room to play in the yard, grill or grab a porch/patio to enjoy the view or read a book. We took advantage of walking down the path to meet the farm animals (fun!) and had the opportunity to chat with the lovely owners as well. Inside the house was well appointed, in good shape and perfectly clean. A great setup to allow the kids to have their own space but not be totally remote. Definitely on our short list to return!

Went to the area for a family vacation with my husband and our two children, ages 4 & 9. The area is beautiful, the house is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, coffee grinder, and nice appliances. The beds were super comfortable. The kids loved having a dedicated “kid zone” since the house is big enough for two families and has two living room spaces as well as two master bedrooms and bathrooms. The hot tub was also a nice touch. The kids enjoyed seeing the farm animals and were thrilled when the goats came running up to them when we visited the farm area. It was fun collecting eggs and visiting the creek. There were lots of bear sightings during visit which was a treat but also really drove home a healthy respect for the instructions to not let children roam around outside without an adult nearby. We also enjoyed seeing all of the hummingbirds that fly around. Wonderful stay overall!

Our family enjoyed our week at the cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The highlight for our kids were the animals. From the hummingbirds by the front door to the black bear to the farm animals, they loved it. We also enjoyed walking down to play in the creek.

Our annual family vacation usually centers on an East Coast beach….we wanted a change this year and we think we chose the right spot. No complaints 😊

We met some out of town friends here and stayed for a couple of nights & it was the perfect spot to relax and catch up. It was very clean and the layout was perfect for two small families. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs in the morning and the kids had a great time petting the adorable animals on the property. We even saw a Mama and baby Black bear next to the driveway entrance, which was a cool experience. Would definetly stay again.

This cabin is home away from home, the property is modern, beautiful and peaceful. It had everything we needed. It's close to a major grocery store and 10 minutes away from downtown. The farm animals were neat to see, thank you for the fresh eggs! We also saw a bear walk pass by.

I cannot recommend this place enough! It's perfect for just about any gathering from a girls weekend, to family get away or couples retreat. The pictures don't do this home justice. It's well appointed and designed so thoughtfully with just about anything you would need. Just make sure you have screenshotted the check in and wifi directions before you get there because there isn't cell service, so you have to communicate with wifi calling. The animals on property were such a treat and I believe the hill on the ridge hike may be the furthest straight up hill climb I've done without a flat spot. Book your stay! You will not be dissappointed.

I can't say enough about this property. The cabin was wonderful, clean, has everything you need, very comfortable beds, lots of space and in a beautiful setting. The fire pit and hot tub were great as well as the trails on the property. We enjoyed visiting the animals. Close enough to Asheville and hiking trails. very quiet and relaxing. I highly recommend!

The cabin and property are beautiful and secluded. Kitchen is well stocked, beds and pillows are very comfortable. Loved that there are two separate sleeping areas for adults and the kids, with each having their own bathroom. Nice (but rugged) hiking trails around the property. We were excited to be able to watch a mama bear and her two cubs playing in a meadow by our cabin (only saw them one day). My kids loved spending time in the hot tub and making s’mores over a campfire. Overall we are very happy with our time spent in this beautiful cabin!

Fun stay, our dogs loved it and we did too. Enjoyed hiking on the grounds. Cabin was nicely done on the inside. We had one little problem with a door not closing properly and Rob came right over to fix it. Fire pit, hot tub, mountains, nearby creek and a short drive to great food, art, etc., can’t ask for anything more!
