Nestled in Stonewall, this attractive cabin for $301 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. If peace, solitude and splendid relaxation is what you yearn for, this is the place! Riverside Retreat is a gorgeous cabin located in Stonewall, TX an easy 14 mile drive from Fredericksburg. This stunning 2 bedroom 2.5 bath cabin is situated along the Pedernales River and has all the comforts of home; including a full kitchen, 3 TVs (50" in living room, 40" in bedrooms) satellite channels and WiFi. The downstairs master bedroom features a king size bed and en-suite bath with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom upstairs also has a King size bed, and en-suite bath with a tub/shower combo. The upstairs loft offers a comfortable futon that sleeps 2, (please note upstairs loft is only accessible through bedroom). Plenty of room for a group of up to 6! Riverside Retreat's remote location, access to the waterfront, comfortable accommodations along with proximity to conveniences provide a unique experience - a little piece of "Heaven on Earth!" Please Note: Firewood is not provided, Spa is serviced on Tuesdays and Lawn is serviced on Wednesdays Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC) Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will not be visible.

The property is excellent, as listed. This was one of our best vacations. The property is superbly located on the banks of river Pedernales, just half a mile upstream of the road crossing/dam. This means that the water in the river was high enough to kayak! Thanks to the kayaks provided by the owner, our kids enjoyed the activity thoroughly. This was the most enjoyable aspect of this property. We did not try tubing since the water was cold. The fire pit, the hammock, and the vast open space made this stay magical. We also loved to observe the groups of turtles sunbathing and the deer family visiting the banks on the other side early in the morning. The Thai restaurant, the Venezuelan chocolatery, and the Italian creamery just a mile away were fantastic. it is a short drive from Fredericksburg (15 min), Enchanted Rock (35 mins). We enjoyed the Pacific War museum a lot. We plan to visit sometime soon. Next time, we would love to cover LBJ state park and museum, and Pedernales park. Finally, the house is very tastefully decorated. Beautiful house!

I did like this cabin- a good overall experience. It is well designed and modern. I love the decorations too. That said, there were a few items of concern:
1) The security code on the door is obvious and has never been changed. I won't state what it is, but if you've ever stayed there, you know the code. And, if safety and security is a concern, you may want to consider this point. While it is remote, the cabin does have neighbors on both sides.
2) The chlorine in the hot tub is excessive and caused both my and my girlfriend's eyes to burn for hours after we left the hot tub.
3) While most things are well stocked, things like dishwashing detergent were not stocked, and that was obviously why dirty pans were found in the cabinets. Gross.
4) AT&T has terrible coverage around the cabin. However, the WiFi is good, but if you want to search for a restaurant on your cell phone, do it inside the cabin rather than in the car.

We are 2 couples in our late 50's that came for a weekend of fun and wine tasting. This is a gorgeous and relaxing location. It is wonderful to sit on the screened in porch and look out over the river. Very peaceful. The decorations in the house are great and we loved every minute. One note - you do need to bring a fire log and charcoal, but, they do sell both at the little grocery store about a half mile away.

This was a beautiful home in a secluded and quiet location along the river. The interior was nicely appointed and maintained well. It had a lovely forested view. The completely screened in back porch made for comfortable seating that was not interrupted by mosquitos. We would definitely consider returning in the Fall or Spring when it will be not quite so hot as in August.

Location and property was as described, wasn't able to get in river due to being too low and way too hot! The home is really well decorated and clean. The beds are a bit hard so if you need a softer bed bring a topper.So many places to visit, shop and try all kinds of wines, meads, whiskey, beers and the best foods and all within 15-20 mins. We had a awesome time!

The property is stunning, absolutely beautiful. I own a cleaning company, so I always spot things that probably normal people don’t see. It definitely needs a really good dusting and a really good water mopping on floors but other than that the place is phenomenal. I plan on booking this property many more times in the future. It is also wonderfully equipped with everything you need. Thank you so much. We had such a good time.

Our stay was wonderful up until about an hour prior to checking out. Shannon with the management company had called and said that the owner had reported to them that we were a party of four and not two. Not sure if that is a real thing, but a 25th anniversary is not something that we celebrate with others. They could have checked the video cameras to confirm prior to making a phone call.

The property Riverside Retreat has all the amenities we wanted - a beautiful river in the backyard, screened in porch, hot tub, close to many wineries, Luckenback, etc. Be sure to read ALL the fine print. The property management company charged us additional for sorts of things and ended up costing us almost double what was listed; they were rude, belittling, and unwilling to compromise. Nothing against the property owners or the house - just poor management from Absolute Charm .

Great property for hanging out and visiting the local breweries and wineries! The grill has some holes in the grate and is a challenge to cook on and the downstairs mattress is in need of replacement BUT these two things were overshadowed by all the overall property.

Cozy and relaxing. Well appointed kitchen for cooking our Thanksgiving dinner. Comfortable beds and roomy bathrooms. Weather kept us from enjoying the well tended hot tub and kayaking the river. Lovely screened back porch overlooking the river. House is very close to the road which isn’t apparent from the pictures so there is some road noise in the house. There was a problem with the HVAC fan running nonstop. The owner did have maintenance and a HVAC repairman out but the fan could not be replaced due to the holiday and availability. Overall a nice stay.

The house was lovely - incredibly clean, artfully decorated, and in a great local for us. The screened porch is great for morning coffee. But to be completely honest, we were put off by a few things. This was the first time there was no generic welcome letter, but numerous laminated signs telling us what not to do. Even though there’s a standard cleaning fee, there’s a list of chores to do before you leave. Sadly, since it’s such a popular rental, the furniture is feeling a bit tired. The mattress in the downstairs bed definitely needs to be replaced. The house is lovely, but needs some refreshing.

Very nice home sitting on the river. It’s not in the middle of nowhere, but it felt very private. Loved the property, the hammock, the hot tub. The stars at night were gorgeous, and we were less than a mile from 3 peach stands. Loved it!

Beautiful natural place for relaxation.
This was a great place to stay, but when trying to rebook to bring our husbands and children, the price increased by over $500, for a total of 6 people, even though the listing indicates six people. To be charged that much to bring our families does not seem right. Beautiful place and wonderful stay though.

Great property by the river!
We had an amazing time in Stonewall! The property is well kept and has great decorations. Perfect for hanging by the river or visiting several wineries within a 10 min drive. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazing- better than the pictures
This place is absolutely remarkable. The little details in every inch of the house, outside, river is just amazing. My five and eight year old were overjoyed with the upstairs, games, porch, hot tub… everything. It was so homey. We cooked each meal there and it felt such like home. We enjoyed the hot tub and the river. The kayaks tubes, and hammock were an added bonus to our outdoor time. This is by far worth every cent. Enjoy watching the birds on the screened-in back porch every morning and evening. I can’t say enough about this place and recommend it to anyone. You will fall in LOVE!!!

Great Weekend Trip
This house was perfect for a guy’s weekend trip. Cozy, clean and comfortable. Garrison Brothers Distillery is worth a stop.

We had a couple of unexpected visitors with the lawn guy and spa/pool guy that showed up unannounced during our stay. It would have been nice if the property manager had let us know that property maintenance would have been happening during our stay before hand or that the maintenance be done in between check out and check ins. We can look past these situations and still give an overall good rating although these disturbances did affect our privacy and peace. Other than these mishaps our stay was quiet and relaxing and well deserved. Would love to go back in the future!
