Beauty hotel but poor customer service

Beautiful old hotel. Very clean.

They gave us a beautiful suite on the 4th floor and then the second day said they had to move us for an engineering emergency and to pack up. They wanted to move us to the first floor. We said no because the street is very loud and noisy. So they said we could stay so we unpacked. Later in the day they said to pack up we were moving. One staff person said we weren’t moving and then another said we were!! We went back & forth packing and unpacking!! No compensation of any kind was offered. We finally moved to the 5th floor in a much smaller room with an outside shutter that banged all night!! We were upset that no compensation was offered.

Amazing place, wonderful and friendly staff, very good services, and nice rooms.

The history of the building, the interior design, the location close to everything and the very friendly staff.

The noise in the rooms with the sea view but you have to live with it because the view worth it.

good choice

the hotel is nicely renovated in a classic setting but not too heavy the facade where my room was located was being renovated so didn’t manage to open the window and enjoy the side view or the weather but there was workers and they were very loud which i found disturbing and also the window didn’t lock so was bit worried specially leaving the room anyone can come in and out without being noticed. the staff were 2 shift one was great and super friendly and the other group was completely the opposite but i enjoyed the friendliness of the afternoon ones and focus my judgment on there hospitality

Alexandria boutique hotel

Staff was very nice- cool little boutique hotel on oceanfront in downtown Alexandria. Sort of British colonial style. Sweet little old fashioned elevator to upper floors. Nice pub style bar that serves food. Lots of hotels and restaurants nearby. Walk to major attractions.

Incredibly busy area with tons of traffic on water front road.

Yasser the bellman, and how honest he is, I lost my wallet at the lobby, he found it and bring it to me at my room, and he refused to accept any reward. Nagham, the guest relation manager and how she made sure that my stay is very comfortable.

The best hotel to enjoy the seaview!

I get a middle room, high floor with a very nice seaview! love the hospitality here, especially the hotel staffs, very friendly to us. I didnt regret stay in this beautiful, well maintained historic hotel. Location also very good, just in-front of the corniche.

I lived in Alexandria 50 years ago and stayed at the Cecil a few times ,the city has changed a lot since then except feror the Cecil the change was for the better.Some how the hotel kept its impressive grandiose with a touch of modernity.Iwould like to thank all the staff but especially Riham at the front desk for her care and hospitality ,also the house keeping people Samia and her colleague and feel certain the Cecil Hotel will see more and more of me and my family and friends. Thank you all for a pleseant stay .Dr.Zeyad El Mughrabi.

The food was excellent. Housekeeping was professional. Location is superb.

The receptionist was not professional. I left a note of arrival time between 12 and 1 pm. I did not receive a response from the hotel. I arrived at 11.35 am and received my room at 1.15 pm. When I arrived, the receptionist did not give me a time frame during which the rooms will be available. And only after I stressed about having a time frame for this, and that I have left a note of arrival at 12-1 pm without a response from the hotel, I was told 20 min. I know well that check-in starts at 3 pm but the hotel has had to respond to me that having the room before 3 pm is not available. The luggage carriers were not professional, one of them was carrying my luggage for another client checking out!! It was only that I noticed this, then my luggage would be lost!!

Superb

The whole ambience of the place. It is a lovely venue to visit or to stay. Friendly and helpful staff, and the place just oozes a luxurious charm. The breakfast is highly recommended.

Not really a complaint but upon our arrival the desk staff claimed that the price agreed through Booking.com was wrong and we needed to pay a surcharge. We refused to do this and to their credit, they eventually agreed to honour the agreed price. Staff were professional and highly courteous throughout all of this. To be certain then, this was the ONLY negative, in an otherwise wonderful experience.

One of the last remaining old world charms, but is it worth it?

It is very centrally located. The hotel still tries to maintain the old world charm which is getting rare. The old style lift was delightful.

Rooms are very small and very, very noisy - not so much from the noise outside but within! We had to ask to be moved to a quieter room. The cleaners and other staff do not seem to respect the sanctity of the visitors and talk at the top of their voices as they go about their duties! The room furnishings need to be upgraded
