A place to put my head whilst in transit

location

it was a building site! As a single woman I didn’t feel safe going done a dark driveway strewn with building materials and no activated lights. The stairway to my room had no lighting so as I left for a 6am flight, I struggled with a suitcase down stairs with no lighting. The pool and outdoor area were unavailable due to a building development. The place stank. The ‘bathroom’ was a caravan style cubicle in the room with a handbasin around the corner. The windows had no insect screens so could not be opened. No shampoo, tissues etc. I would not recommend this accommodation.

Felt that the price exceeded the experience

renovation noise started at 7, we were warned about noise but did not expect that early so no sleep after that time

Passable

Location and internal space. Very pleasant view.

Bathroom,shower recess needs replacing. Not acceptable condition. Left over food in freezer. No tv reception, not told till we queried it.Limited cooking utensils. Obviously an older building undergoing repairs but felt that it was not up to par on similar priced places we've stayed at in Cairns before.

Besides the see through screens, in Bathroom, and hot water issue, everything else was fine and good

I liked the look of Floriana, and the difference in style and set up.

The Bathroom had terrible water pressure, when having a shower. Took ages to get warm water, in shower, ages to heat up. And runs out of hot water very quickly. Very noisy tap fittings, and old, needed to be replaced as the bathtub handle basically fell off from being old and rust. I also did not enjoy the see through screens, used throughout the bathroom and kitchen, with no curtains, for privacy, just see through screens. I didn't feel comfortable at all, in the shower that's the last thing you want whilst trying to enjoy a shower. .

Basic room, no extras, just somewhere to sleep.

It was quiet at night. Good aircon but noisy.

Steep stairs up to room. Dusty curtains falling off hooks. Broken power outlet switch possible hazard. Cost per night to high for low standard room.

very dated property. adequate for a one night stay.

it was spacious and clean. it also had a fan and air conditioning.

it was very dated, not as it appeared in the photographs. The photographs probably were of the rooms in the Floriana villa next door. Upon booking, they did mention that work was being done but the workers started around 7 am. There were no dish towels, hand towels or a soap dispenser in the bathroom. There was also an odour from the bathroom. I met other tourists staying there who passed the same comments.

Superb

vintage room, spacious, comfortable, loved the fact that it is so close to the walking park along the esplanade but on the quiet and not to busy side of it. very quiet, and we could sit together in a very homely atmosphere in the room where my friends stayed sitting on the large window seats. a fridge and microwave to help us keep our bellies happy!

Old world charm

Beautiful character filled building right on the esplanade with lovely sea views. Spotlessly clean and comfortable

Parking was a little difficult as the hospital is nearby but great if you're on foot

Very good

It is right on the Esplanade. It was a nice size room for one person. Clean. Fans and and airconditioner. Had a nice feel to the place. Good value for the price. I like the guest house feel. When renovations are completed, it will improve even more. Good that renovation jobs were only done during the day.

There were only beds in the room, no chairs. Only basics supplied, but I chose this place as it was a good price, so it was good value for money.

Great value

Great stay, good value for money. Short walk to the centre but along the beach which is nice. Appartment is quite spacious and the beds re comfortable. Includes small fridge and kitchenette.

The pool is not much but they have a big free public pool in cairns. Also i think they are renovating. We where there in the weekend so did not hear annything.

It was a bed to sleep in with nothing extra.

The inside of rooms are very clean.

Not at all like the photos used to advertise. place is advertised as retro but it seemed more dated, tired and old to me.

Had a nice pool and enjoyed being on the esplanade, the new area around the pool is a lovely addition

Avoid Floriana Guest House in Cairns if not desperate.

2 star accommodation

Very hard to contact property manager. tried adding a member to the group.after multiple messages through booking.com had no response. Reply mentioned that messages sent through booking.com doesn’t reach them!! Never had that problem before with booking.com. No information provided about access on arrival & no one was around to hand over keys though we arrived at the mentioned time in the afternoon. The doors are self locking & managed to leave the room key inside the room second late evening of our stay. Contacted the provided contact phone number at 21.15, requesting access to the room & was told that we have to wait till 6.30 next morning for the cleaning maid to arrive to open the room. Alternative was that a locksmith will be sent to break the door lock but that we will have to pay for the expense!!!!!! decided to make alternative arrangements for night stay. Received a call just before 6AM next morning saying someone coming to open in 5 to 10 minutes but came after 30-40 minutes, just in time to check out, to catch the 8AM ferry to Fitzroy island. Worst experience I have had so far when booking through Booking.com. All other stays in Australia this visit were fine & smooth. The front sea facing family rooms are good & would give them 3 star but the back side swimming pool (which is closed for repairs) facing rooms are at best 2 star.

I could not believe this accommodation was available to book through booking.com

not clean, service was not good, when the door was located, they asked me to pay to open the door. we booked for three, but they provided two towels only.

Room 7 was a pretty room with pretty view Comfotable

This stay I had room 7. It's security was poor with inadequate door and window locks, as was the security of the property in general .because guests left the security gate open a few times during my stay..I relocated to another hotel because of this. My last visit I was in Room 8 for one night and I asked to be moved to another room. Room 8 was not good value for money with VERY humble bathroom facilities. The description when I booked (early) did not match the property. Perhaps the proprietor should discuss this with Booking.com I was disappointed with what I got. The property looks very pretty (and it is) but the quality of the rooms vary.and it not a safe place because of the security issues.

The views from the windows Art deco charm Comfy bed

Security was poor. There was a locked entry gate to the upstairs rooms but it kept being left open. The casement windows and room door locks were inadequate. The property was not as advertised - pool out of action (long term) and no BBQ. Pay washng machine and dryer in another building not in the room. Our 'deluxe' room (room 4) had the toilet and shower virtually open to the bedroom (the shower did). Asked for a better room but had to pay more. It was a poorly insulated space and the one small aircon (above the toilet) didn't cut it. No dedicated kitchen space or sink despite being advertised as having a kitchenette. Room was clean but in poor state of maintenance. This was not value for money especially since I had to leave the room tidy and take out the garbage or else I would incur a cleaning fee. It is not a great place for a single female traveller, I won't be staying here again. I have cancelled my future bookings ( I am a FIFO worker).
