This property is located at the end of the strip and you can walk to just about anywhere in town. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is well furnished.

Cute space! Everything was beautiful and the bed was comfy!
Be aware the fireplace is decorative only. Other than that this property is perfect for a couples weekend getaway!

The home was clean and the location was great! Would stay again.

This place was great. It was clean and everything looks new on there. You’re in a very good walking distance from town that allows you to go and explore and come back to rest if you would like without even using your car. We would recommend this place to our friends.

Location couldn’t be any better. Plenty of room for my wife, son and myself. Would 100% stay here again!

Upon arrival we were given clear directions for accessing this property and everything was super clean. A perfect size for two, although I do believe the living room couch is a pull out bed so it would accommodate four comfortably as well. The best part was the location. This property is right on the outside of the Main Street in Helen so it is perfect walking distance to literally everything you need but also quiet and secluded enough when you want to get away from all of the action. We barely used the car except for when we took the quick 6 minute drive to Unicoi State Park (which I highly recommend visiting for zip lining, hiking, and site seeing). All around a great stay!

I wanted to give this place a better review, because it is a nice property. But like others have said, the Anna Ruby suite lacks serious privacy. The front door is mostly glass and you can see right in, all the way to the bedroom door which is also glass. The porch lights stay on, so you cannot limit the light pouring in for sleeping at night. It takes very little investment from the owner to make a correction with door blinds. If privacy is a concern for you, I would take this in consideration for booking. Also, wifi signal is weak, so if you need to access it on a laptop, you’ll be disappointed. Lastly, I disliked that I booked this on VRBO, but had to communicate through Vacasa (another rental agency). This is too confusing. Next time, I’ll check the listings to make sure I’m not being directed through multiple rental agencies who are all collecting fees from me.

Great place to relax. Walking distance to everything.

It was nice except I took a 10 minute shower and my husband could not get one because the water was already cold!

The apt was excellent. Plenty of space for 2 people and a short walk to all the places you’d want to visit during Oktoberfest. Only suggesting I have is having blinds on the front door since people from outside can see through the glass.

The location was great for walking around Helen, Ga. Cabin was decorated beautifully BUT…. was hiding a bed that was horrible! The king bed was worn out in fact it was worn out years ago!!! Both people roll to the center, the bed creaks if anyone moves and the box springs set up on one side and collapses on the other. My husband and I managed 2 days with him on the bed and me on the couch. We contacted guest services on day one and asked for a new bed or to be moved to another place. Nothing else was available and the owners, not the booking agency, are responsible for replacing mattresses. We left a day early due to the bed situation. VACASA did offer a partial refund and did reach out to the owners. If the bed was replaced I would book Up Country Inn again.

Great location and adorable design of this 1 bedroom suite in a historic home. Private.

The Kitchen needs a present world can opener : as splatter screen and the freezer needs and automatic ice maker . The doors need openable blinds or curtains.. the heating system filters may have problems as the temp from the vents get progressively hotter to a much much higher temps that i hav ever observed any where before.

We stayed in the Anna Ruby for six nights. Super convenient location for hiking. Betty’s Store next door has everything you could possibly need including amazing pies, wine and beer. The only downside is there is no laundry. Also, as other have mentioned, the bedroom door needs to be swapped for a solid door so that light from the street doesn’t come in as the front door is also glass. We would definitely stay here again.

The unit was clean and safe. There is a little street noise from traffic and the bells from the church next door. The location is ideal for walking to Helen's shops and restaurants and has easy access to drive to other activities in the area.

Close to all town activities but quiet when in house. Liquid hand soap in bathroom was so diluted…not happy about this. 5 hour power outage but largely late at night. Front porch lights stay on which I love however I recommend a roller shade to block the light at night. Also recommend a roller shade for the glass bedroom door for privacy.

Well-decorated cozy unit on the quiet part of town. Next door to bar/restaurant that closes at 9, so was perfect if you want some peace and quiet. Helen is a tiny town so we were able to walk to other side of town in 10min.

The house was lovely and in a perfect, convenient area. It was well stocked, and had everything we needed. The only comment is that we had to put a sheet over the bedroom door to block from the outside front door. You can see through both. We ended up leaving a day early due to the weather, but we saw everything we wanted to see. We walked the town several times and ate some really good food at several places. If you like waterfalls, don't miss Anna Ruby Falls in Unicoi State Park. My partner is handicap but was able to make the walk with a walker to the falls.
Everyone we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely plan on returning to this beautiful area.

We had zero hot water the first night we were there. By the time we realized there was no hot water, the property manager was not answering her phone, and she was off the next day. We had to reach out to Vacasa (there was no mention of vrbo anywhere at the property) to try and resolve the issues. They directed me to a maintenance closet at the rear of the building to try and fix the issue myself, but that did not help. It was a day and a half before we had the hot water working properly. Once it was working, that was fine.
The front door has a large glass panel, and the bedroom door is almost all glass, and neither have blinds. So it is easy to see all the way from the front porch into the bedroom. We had to take a sheet and drape it over the front door (on the inside) to feel comfortable.
Then there is the fact that we were completely unable to turn the front porch lights off, so the light from them shined all the way back into the bedroom at night. My wife is light sensitive, so this kept her from being able to sleep soundly. Well, the lights plus the bed creeking like crazy every time you moved. Also, the matress is worn such that it tends to roll people toward the center, which can make it difficult to get out of the bed.
Unfortunately, the fireplace is decorative only and not functional. Although there is a gas line that comes out of the floor beside the fireplace, it appears to be capped off inside the fireplace. It seems that they would have capped it below the floor, as the laminate flooring does appear to be fairly new. However, whomever installed it seems to have left some odd padding below it because the floor feels like it has waves in it as you walk across it.
One other note about the front porch, there are four chairs on the porch. So be warned that someone might be sitting out there and able to hear anything going on inside. At one point, we had some random person sitting on the front porch right outside the living room window.
Finally, the Internet service was TERRIBLE. I was completely unable to connect to the Internet from the unit using my laptop computer, and our cell phones did not have much better luck.
Overall, I wish I had just saved some money and gone to a regular hotel in the area.

I'm going to start with why I deducted "stars" from my review. The check-in and check-out time was not my favorite. You can not check in until 4pm which is an hour later than most places yet your check out time is still 10am. We arrived in Helen early to explore the day of check in but had to find (and pay) for a place to park because we couldn't park at the room until check in time.
When it came to the day of check out, I just happened to be up thank goodness when my phone went off and it was a text message from the "Vacasa" place in charge of the rental. The text came in at around 8am. Check-out time was TWO HOURS away and they were sending a text message to a link where you needed to confirm your check out. This is something that could have been included in the booking information. I did not want to be bothered by the owner for something like this.
This was further frustrating because I had previously emailed the owner via VRBO to follow up that my second payment had been received. They never acknowledged my email.
Small downside: The front porch light was automatic and we couldn't find a way to turn it off. Since there are no curtains on the front door or the door into the bedroom, there was light from headlights and the front porch light that snuck in while you are trying to go to sleep.
The kitchen sink water would never get hot. I turned it both ways and let it run for 5 minutes +.
The property itself is pretty. The bed and couch are both comfortable. The shower had amazing pressure. The location is perfect for walking to anything in town. It was too cold while we were there but loved the front porch to sit and have a drink. You really can't beat the location so all the rest of this is small potatoes, I just prefer thorough reviews when I'm looking and try to do the same. We would definitely stay here again and would just be better prepared knowing what we learned from this initial trip.
