The location was incredible with the bar serving cocktail with a nice view of the sunset
The staff was very helpful as they booked a boat tour for us
It might be an issue with Booking but in English it says in the policies that pets are allowed without extra charges and when we arrived they showed us the opposite in Spanish and we had to pay 300 Mexican pesos for one night for a cat

We liked the amazing view and the style of the house as well as the transats and direct access to the lagoon to swim .
We were in room 5 which is a tiny room in the building right at the entrance on 1st floor but not in the house itself. You can hardly move around the bed. The bathroom is also very small and the water was running very low from the tap making it too hard to wash long hair . Maybe the rooms inside the house were bigger. Also we were asked 1000 pesos cash instead of the 300 mentioned in the booking itself but managed to do with all we had in the pocket which was 450 pesos . I could not get a receipt for the one night stay paid with my credit card, only the credit card receipt itself . Overall the room was ok but outside, the place was not very cleaned and the access to the lagoon crowded with some lady renting kayak and paddle boards. She did not not want to rent us a kayak at 4pm for sunset when we arrived and paddle boards are just for group booking at sunrise . There was some construction work also on the extension of the wood terrace on the water, quite noisy. Overall this room was not good value. Only the view is amazing .

Nothing to like in this hotel, a lot of better options next door.
Non existing breakfast (limited to a loaf of bread among cigarette ashes), worst quality price ratio ever seen for such a small unequipped room with no maintenance

it was so beautiful and clean and the views were amazing
nothing I liked everything

Nice atmosphere and staff.
You can't properly enjoy the water at the hotel because of all the boats. For that you have to pay for a trip, which is nonsensical. The pictures don't show the many boats that plague the shore all over town.

view on the lagon was amazing
boat trip proposed next door (Chinese house) was nice - canoe also available for free
need some refresh.
cleaning urgently needed of the shared kitchen

The property has access to the lagoon. We were able to walk a few steps and go swimming. Rooms were clean and decent size. There’s enough areas to lounge. It’s close to the city center and restaurants, but far enough from the busy downtown area.
The rooms didn’t have a fridge.

Great place, amazing view and comfortable rooms
There wasn’t a properly restaurant or bar. And also there were a lot of boats in the lagoon where it is supposed people swim.

Great location with a view! Very small but functional room with a comfortable bed and great shower and air conditioning.. The staff was very helpful! The afternoon food was delicious. We enjoyed swimming out from the shore.
It's a steep walk down to lake with no room to hang out near the water. The lake front is filled with boats.

The spectacular buildings and very well maintained garden transport us directly to the wild French Riviera coast. Peace, elegance and beauty everywhere, with exceptional customer service. It is a bit remote from the village (so really quiet), and very easily accessible by taxi. The deck with a view and its beds and sun loungers offer a unique perspective on the cenote Esmeralda. Warm and clean water in the lake (with no seaweed). And several incredible restaurants less than a 10-minute walk away.
That I had to leave :)

The views and waterfront location are EXCELLENT. You can take a boat tour right from the dock. Shiraz helped us organize everything and was so helpful. The cocktails were amazing (maybe too good) and the Arabic food was very good. the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly from beginning to end. I want to come back!
free coffee is available at breakfast time but not substantial food, so good idea to bring some snacks for the morning!

It’s near the lagoon.
The room was tiny, no storage and you had to shuffle around the bed. Not idea for a couple. Ok if you are travelling solo.

Water is provided throughout the duration of the stay, which is great, as it means not needing to remember to buy water every day, as has been the case in other parts of the country that I've visited. Here, you simply fill up your bottle when needed and you're good to go!
The location is amazing. I had the room with the view of the lagoon, and it was wonderful waking up to that!
The resting areas, with the day beds overlooking the harbour - also amazing! I spent a lot of time down there, writing and napping and just gazing out over the water.
I love being able to swim any time of day (night time too!) in the warm water. Great way to start and end an inevitably hot day!
This is an incredible place to unwind and relax. Highly recommended!
There was construction taking place throughout my time there, on the road right outside the hotel. This made for a bit of noise at various times of the day (and sometimes even at night), but I always travel with earplugs so it wasn't a dealbreaker for me.

Incredible historic property, close restaurants, wonderful sunset view from the tower and a sailboat adventure from the dock on Bacalar lagoon.
Nothing.

I loved this hotel! The staff especially Shiraz were incredibly accommodating and nice. Booked my tours and gave me great restaurant recommendations. Cocktails at the bar are great. Beautiful location, looking directly out onto the lake. You can lie in hammocks or sun beds and stargaze. Highly recommend :)

The staff is amazing. Shiraz and Raul are outstanding employees. View of the lake is amazing. Property currently being updated and has so much potential.
They charge a surcharge when paying by credit card. In today's age that is unacceptable especially in the hospitality business. There is no nearby ATMs so they need to address this issue.

Absolutely stunning property, the kindest staff, and delicious food and drinks. Best views and water quality on the lagoon, with lots of little spaces to lie out in the sun or shade. Hands down one of the loveliest hotels I’ve ever stayed at! Highly recommend for the tranquil atmosphere.
