Location: very good. Reception bad. Rooms darkish. Would not book again.

The location was excellent - REALLY close to the White House (like 100 meters)

The woman receptionist was unfriendly and not polite - it felt like we were boring her and we didn't feel welcome.

Very old hotel, so make sure you get a discount or special rate before booking

Excellent location. Just a few minutes walk from the White House and relatively close to all other tourist attractions.

This is a very old building, and not really indicative of the standards that you would find that other Sofitel locations around the world. The rooms are pretty old and the furniture has been rundown a lot. The washroom is surprisingly nice and spacious.

Beautiful property nice location spacious rooms

The property was well appointed and located well. My room and the bathroom were very comfortable and spacious.

The price was high for what I received however I enjoyed my stay.

Great location. Small beds.

The location is great. Only a few steps from the White House. The bathroom was nice and clean. Good towels.

The beds in the double room are small. They are twin beds, not queen.. So, the room only fits 2 adults ( not 3 ) and maybe two small children. And the wardrobe is tiny.

Excellent place to stay for central location walking distance to all sites very clean and safe

The staff and location was excellent- one block from the White House- easy to Uber anywhere

The entire wait staff inside the restaurant was negligent of good service The place was empty and it took 20 minutes to get two drinks - only complaint

Got some much needed sleep, saw lots of sights in DC.

Comfortable, clean, attentive staff, close to metro. Good gym. Liked the pillows and mattress. Super picky about that. So good sleep!

Bad in billings. took a lot of extra $ from poeople cards

They still keep my money

The hotel seems to show signs of aging and requires some attention. The restaurant is far from being up to French cuisine standards and needs drastic upscaling.

Mini bar was empty. You had to ask for what you wanted from a code. . Very strange. No wine etc. Help not eager beavers. Did what they needed to do. No shavers in bathroom. Had to ask for Wi-Fi password so it would work. We know Sofitel from Europe. Definitely not comparable. Maybe a 4 star pushing it. Definitely not 5 star. Does not measure up to the Fauberg St Honore in Paris or the Sofitel in Marseille or the Sofitel in Venice and in St Barthes. Disappointed but location great in DC.

I plan to stay again!

The hotel is beautiful, its a 5 minute walk from the White House & BLM Plaza, the Opaline restaurant was amazing (lunch; the Endive salad is delicious), the staff were friendly, they use nicely-scented Balmain products in the restroom, and the vibe was one to be desired.

I was told I could not get a room with a view of the White House for security reasons but I’ve read that others have been assigned rooms with this view. I requested well in advance (in case it was possible) but this response was only shared upon arrival. I understand the security component but the communication was not clear or timely in this case.

Luxurious one night stay in DC

location is perfect for walking to all sites, lovely outdoor/patio vibe, decor is cozy, room very comfortable, great shower, very good breakfast!

“Urban Experience fee”? Really? For the room rate paid, that seems wrong.

I loved every minute of it!

I had a bedroom on the top floor, interesting view and lots of sun. The bed was very comfortable, the room's decoration was very elegant and posh, the bathroom was well appointed, the toiletries were first class, the service at the front desk was excellent. I loved the location even though it is not at Lafayette Square as advertised but a block away. Easy walk to the Mall and museums. There are some very nice restaurants within a block or two and across the street. The area felt very safe.

An armchair in the bedroom was so worn with ripped corners that I had to request a replacement. It took several hours, emails and photos to get it done. There was no lobby, no lounge area, just a bench in the entrance and two tiny rooms with two armchairs on each side. No place to meet with friends or guests. The TV was not working properly but I still got charged extra for the service. One of the shades covering the window had a broken string/line, therefore the shade hung very crooked. The shower leaked under the door.
