The food and the view of the river. We enjoyed watching the barge traffic and fishing boats. The price is very reasonable.
The beds were too soft and caused pain.

Nice location with nice views
Very tiny room, very crowded, air conditioner very noisy. Dirty ceiling fan, I was afraid to turn it on because dirt would fly all over

Was not expecting a room with the river view, but it was beautiful and quaint. A little small though but the bathroom was roomy. Liked having breakfast included.
Room was a little tight but bed was comfy. It seemed that everyone was allowed to go on vacation, including the general manager the same time. It left one girl in the bar area to handle it, getting dinner orders and waiting. Breakfast was even worse as the lone waitress was taking orders, getting drinks, cooking the food, serving it ad cashing people out. Se
he did an outstanding job given the circumstances but the general manager who had taken vacation too should have been called and gotten into the hotel to assist as long as was needed to get the situation taken care of. I have been in restaurant and management service for many, many years, owning my own restaurant and other businesses, and you never leave a place, especially one as renowned as the Lafayette so short staffed. YOU, the manager and your management staff are responsible to fill in regardless of what you have or want to do otherwise. That was unconscionable. There were a few people who were not as understanding as the ones that stayed in the restaurant, but I know that they would not give a favorable review to their family and friends about their experience that day. That's what can disrupt and destroy te reputation and business for the Lafayette. Perception!

I love the history and the fact that they have kept the ambiance of the era in which it was built. Modern amenities blended with Riverboat era architecture and furnishings.
Nothing.

The location is outstanding, although old, the hotel is fairly well maintained and certainly exudes the ineffable charm of yesteryear. Staff was outstanding.
Because it is an old hotel, rooms can be on the smaller side compared to modern. However, if you're staying here, what appeals is history, at least in part. So, if the room feels small, get over it.

Could not ask for better .

The location is beautiful and our room was facing the river. The staff was super friendly and helped me find the room with a great bed...I have a bad back and the staff let me see a few rooms before settling in. Each room was unique and lovely.
Breakfast coupon is included and covered the traditional breakfast that was delicious. Bonus...there is a Starbucks in the building.
No easy way to get luggage in/out because there are about 5 steps up from ground level to lobby.

I like the historical feel of a hotel that maybe was once the center of travelers' attention but still has the amenities to entice today guests.
Nothing. I would easily book another trip. Staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The “quirkiness” of it. Old and historical.
Having to use a breakfast ticket when went down for early coffee to bring to room. Then couldn’t go back for breakfast.

Very nice historic hotel with a nice lounge area and restaurant.
Heat pipes rattled during the night.

Lafayette nice old hotel with character. Close to the river and small shops.
The room was small and next to an outside roof patio that was always noisy with people drinking and being loud. The AC we turned on was very loud and really didn't cool the room that well. We had to turn it off to hear the TV and open the window for cool air but again the noise from the roof patio and they could look right into our room.

Historic downtown hotel, nice view of the river
My husband and I both had bedbug bites from our stay at the Lafayette. I am very upset about this, it is disgusting that the beautiful historic Lafayette Hotel would have bedbugs!

amazing location, walking distance to many shops and restaurants.
beds were not comfortable, dipped in the middle and my husband and I spent each night smooshed together in the middle of the bed.

Location, location, location on the river in a charming historic town. Large rooms, high ceilings, antique furnishings. A “ladies retiring room’ suggests some of the golden age atmosphere. A full breakfast menu with attentive service.
Property shows its age, of course. Musty smells prevail. Small but modernized bathroom. Tragically understaffed. Sunday night, every table in the dining room was uncleared. Only one small overworked server who couldn’t reach the wine classes at the bar ( the least of the issues), served drinks in plastic cups. Key cards had to be renewed ever day, even when carefully stored away from magnetic field. Excessive street noise from revving engines and loud mufflers interfered with rest.
7.0
Location and staff in the bar.
Room was nice but you could hear everyone in the hall and outside noise was very loud. There was no hot water for showers, and no parking for paying guest because of wedding guest.
