It is situated at a cool 1000 foot elevation, and is located in a traditional Hawaiian neighborhood with large lots, mature trees and no street lights. A long tree-lined driveway leads to this beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. It has an open floor with vaulted ceilings and large windows that overlook beautiful manicured grounds and a lani where you can entertain or relax in the cool trade winds. This property was the perfect choice for our family! The views are beautiful. Safe and quiet neighborhood. Colleen is a wonderful host with a keen eye for every detail. The house is well-kept and very clean. She had coolers & ice packs, beach towels, beach chairs & a beach umbrella available. Some of these we didn’t even know we would need, but used them almost every day!

We loved our 10 day stay here. Quiet, except for chirping frogs, birds and roosters, which just add to the charm, really. Well equipped, roomy, washer and dryer were SO helpful. Our host was kind and generous.

Colleen was the kindest host and her home is so beautiful. The location with its proximity to the airport and to Kona, the ocean views, and cleanliness and homeliness of the house was evident since we stepped in. She even had beach towels and other amenities cleaned and ready for us to use. I highly recommend her place if you are on the Big Island.

You're not going to find a better place so stop looking. Rare place that looks *better* than the photos. It was Colleen's personal home until recently so it's not full of garbage rickety furniture and trash appliances. Has the most well apportioned kitchen I've ever seen in a vacation rental. Stunning views off the lanai. Just remember this is a chill spot so quiet between 8 pm and 8 am. That doesn't mean it's church but you get the drift.

Colleen's property is lovely, (even better than the photos) and she is a warm and welcoming host. The property is close to the airport, very clean and the view from the large lanai is perfect. The home's furnishings are comfortable and reflect Colleen and Gary's love of Hawaii. Everything we needed was there, including an array of items for a day at the beach. I almost didn't want to write such a glowing review as this property may not be available next time I would like to return to the island!

Colleen is the most gracious host and her place was perfect for us: immaculate, very tastefully decorated, well furnished, every conceivable amenity including a wonderful selection of books. Quiet and relaxing. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Exceeded expectations.

The Sullivan’s home is beautifully built and maintained. It is in a neighborhood but with well- manicured grounds, and a stunning sunset view from the lanai, it is a peaceful, tropical oasis. The location is ideal for exploring the great beaches of the Gold Coast and only 10-15 minutes away from Kona’s grocery stores. Colleen is a very attentive, warm and kind host.

The home was absolutely beautiful, well maintained and very clean. The view was amazing - the lanai was a great place to relax and enjoy the breeze and cooler temperature. Colleen was very accommodating and a joy to talk to.

We had Cathy's sister & husband over for dinner on the lanai. It was both our Anniversaries & Colleen went above & beyond to make it special for us!

Big Island Gem
Don’t hesitate to book this home. We loved staying here in mid-May and look forward to returning someday soon. As nice as it appears in the pictures, it’s even nicer in person and is a gem. You’re in a real Big Island neighborhood about 1200 feet above sea level about 4 miles from airport, cooler than sea level with no need for A/C, with easy access to downtown Kona and main highways (high and low) to explore the island. Colleen and Gary are great hosts and super nice people - they made us feel welcome and comfortable with their genuine hospitality, and their home is a true reflection of them. They are eager to help with tips on anything from the weather, hidden beaches, the day’s prevailing sea swells, to the history of the area. Getting to know them made our stay even more special.
Since you’re in a real neighborhood you’ll definitely hear the coqui frogs from sunset to sunrise (you’ll get used to ‘em after a couple days), a few roosters, and the occasional barking dogs – very minor stuff but use earplugs or a white noise machine if you’re noise-sensitive at night.

The best place in the Big Island
The house is located in a residential area at 1000 ft elevation. It has a great view of the ocean from the second story deck, especially at sunset time with cool breezes flowing that make you comfortable & relaxed.
We used to stay in ocean front condominiums before and enjoyed the ocean view and the sound of the waves. But we fell in love with this beautiful place and enjoyed waking up with the sound of the birds. On the first day when we arrived, it was already dark and we were greeted with loud chirping of the birds and wondered what kind of birds would sing in the night. Then we found out the next day that it was actually the coqui frogs!
Colleen keeps the rooms spotless. We were welcomed with a wonderful bowl of fruit. We never closed the windows and let air flow through the house, so that no air conditioner was needed.
Colleen and Gary were very generous with providing all the necessary items for us.

Colleen and Gary’s place was absolutely gorgeous. It was by far the best vacation property I have ever stayed in. Their place was beautifully decorated and spotless! Not a speck of dust anywhere. You can tell there was great attention to detail in every aspect. We really felt like we were staying in better than a 5 star hotel - there was plenty of space, TV, great kitchen, washer & dryer, and beach equipment to borrow! There are even extra items in the bathrooms like beach towels, first aid kit, bug spray, etc. The home had everything we needed. Colleen even prepared a fruit bowl for us! Gary was also very quick to empty the trash bins just outside.
One of my favorite parts about the stay was leaving the windows open and allowing the natural air to flow through the house - AC was definitely not necessary. If there wasn’t enough wind, they had ceiling fans in every room! We felt like we were one with nature and we’re able to find peace and relaxation. The view from the lanai is another highlight and was spectacular. Pictures do not do it justice at all. We spent a lot of our mornings eating breakfast and just hanging out to enjoy the view. Tip: Must check out the sunset from here, amazing!
The location was also perfect! Their home was centrally located and close to the airport. We were able to adventure to every single corner of the island and come home and enjoy the rest of the evening.
Overall, Colleen is super sweet and very responsive. We will definitely be coming back in the future for another stay. Thank you again, Colleen & Gary. We really enjoyed our stay and we’ll be back soon!
