An interesting experience...
Since you are in Japan, a night in a traditional house is mandatory!
Very clean, silent and cozy
I do recommend to try this place.
Staff is super helpful and friendly

Centrally located and within walking distance (10-15mins) to the main market area. Plenty of food options nearby and everything was relatively easy.

The property is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful (their English is very good as well). It is close to the main shopping area. It is a very nice alternative to a regular hotel. Would definitely come back.
The roof top garden has set hours, so we missed the opportunity to go up there.

Very clean, tipical, in a perfect position in the center of Kyoto and very near to the station. Staff extremely helpful and nice. They cancelled for free our last night cause we had to move earlier to Osaka due to the thyphoon lan. We only have to thank them.

Spacious and comfortable room for my family of four. And the staff can speak good English.

Everything!

Quite good look and feel of a hotel - seemed like traditional style.
Nice rooms, but also you can get a bit dark one with windows facing insides of building. Breakfasts are so so - especially Japanese ones.

Very good staff, speaking English and helpful in terms of suggestions for sightseeing, shops etc. Good breakfast. Good value for the money.

The room itself was one of our bigger rooms while visiting Japan (western style), The staff were extremely friendly and spoke fluent English (it was re-assuring to know that someone can help you if needed). They also were able to do laundry for an extra charge and also helped us reserve a restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Kyoto!
The only negative thing that I can think about is that the location is a bit farther from the main transportation hubs. It's only 10 minutes which is totally acceptable for my wife and I but it is something to consider if mobility is an issues. In the end this is a very minor issue.

Loved everything about this place, highlight of our trip. Staff were terrific. Breakfast was lovely. Very nice private bath.
A bit of a walk from the station.

We had a suite for our family of four. The parents slept in a western bed and the kids slept on futons on the tatami mats in a screened-in area. There was plenty of space for the four of us and the kids enjoyed the futon experience. The hotel is very clean and modern. We did use the public bath which was nice. The breakfast at the hotel is delicious and convenient, they have both Western and Japanese options. It is a larger hotel than we expected but it was nice to have actual staff at the front desk as most of the hotels in Tokyo only have iPads.
We had been told our room would be ready early but it wasn't. They happily stored our luggage so it wasn't a big deal.

Mai was great!

- The friendly and helpful staffs.
- The location (near to Nishiki Market).
- The complimentary wine that comes with the room.
- The small monitor screen that serves as a TV.
- The pillow is too flat and soft for our liking.

Lovely hotel and room. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was great too. In a quiet location and was really good value for money. About a ten minute walk across the river will bring you into Gion, but lots of restaurants nearby too.

The hotel staff was pleasant and the lobby gave a nice impression of quality. Complete presentation of the surroundings.
Not worth the price. Too small of a room, no basic services in it like microwave or bathtub. Therefore need to pay to take a bath in a private bathroom...

Really excellent service, with helpful personnel, very nice and attentive.
For example it was great they were able to handle some laundry for me (very cheap too)
Maybe try to add more variations to the Japanese breakfast ?
I took it all 4 mornings because I wouldn't want anything else (:-)) - all 4 mornings it was very good, but just a bit too identical to the previous one. If you can vary more while keeping the same overall quality and price it would be perfect :-)

we were warmly greeted by pierre, who gave us a thorough introduction of the ryokan and explained the facilities. rather surprised to see so many foreign staff working there too, but as non-japanese speaking travellers, it was very pleasant to be able to communicate so easily. we loved the room with japanese seating and was tastefully designed. our room had a loft area with a garden view and it was very therapeutic to sit there and have a cup of tea. bedding was comfortable and warm. very clean. we were also given recommendations of local restaurants nearby and we tried one, which turned out to be a michelin recommended ramen shop. overall, we loved the place and the hospitality we received during our stay.
Wifi was slightly spotty and bit slow. we didnt sleep too well due to the low pillows and had some aches. retrospectively we should have asked for more pillows, which the ryokan did offer in their written guide. slightly small space to keep our luggage and unpack

I stayed in one of the western rooms and I found it to be a good size. The staff were friendly and very eager to help in anyway.
I found the beds to be very hard, and the pillows very thin. Being on the third floor I was directly below the office and could hear furniture being moved around late at night.

staff were great, rooms were well appointed and location was central to the Ghion area.

Fond of the tasteful and stylish Japanese design both of the common areas and the room, the attentive and helpful staff, staying in a washitsu (traditional Japanese room with tatami and futon) which was a first for me and a fantastic experience. very clean. Location is good too, quiet area reasonably close to trains, Shiju-Jo, Ponto-Jo, Gion, perfect for nightlife as well as sightseeing.

staff was amazing i couldnt stress this enough !! they were super considerate ,helpful and cheerful.
hotel vibe is traditional just in the right amount, not too fancy , i would recommend to try traditional bedrooms but for me it was enough just for one night , then i moved to western beds
smoking area is in a beautiful traditional garden
note: i didnt try the breakfast
simply you will feel at home , with the best staff .
it would’ve been nice if the beds were more comfortable

We loved our room and felt safe in the neighborhood at all hours. Easy access to subway, although we used taxis frequently in Kyoto, things are close. Special town. Special accommodation. I was so glad we stayed in a machiya.
The loft attached to our room was lovely but we found no practical use for it.
