We loved our stay at The Shaw House. Nice and cool. Needs a little TLC. The bottom of the stairs was cracked. Long gauges along side the wall in the bar kitchen area. There is no curtains on a couple of upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The bathroom toilet upstairs was dirty. The couches need cleaning. The hoses leak. The fence needs repairs. The TV in the dining area didn’t work and didn’t have a remote. The gas grill needs cleaning. The fan/light remote didn’t work. But overall it is a comfortable place to stay for us. We had plenty of room for my husband, children and I. It was nice a cool and comfortable place to sleep. The AC was perfect. The beds were very comfortable and clean. Loved the washer and dryer. It is in a great location. We did enjoy our stay at The Shaw House. We would definitely stay again.

Old house so doors stick sometimes and be careful of uneven floors. Comfortable furniture. Wifi was spotty and slow. Please put out mosquito traps. Kitchen is tiny but plenty of seating. Love the porch swings. Downstairs bedroom has king sized bed and attached bath with shower. Soaker tub is upstairs in the back bedroom. Two connected bedrooms and one more small bedroom with bunk beds on 2nd floor with a full hall bath. Loads of natural light and storage.

The smoke alarm battery was dying in one of the bedrooms when we checked in and was beeping. Called Vacasa property management between 2 and 3 pm and they said someone would be out to change battery. They did not come out to change battery and when we returned to the home late that evening it was still beeping and rendered one of the needed bedrooms unusable. Called them again the next day and they finally showed up only to try to hand some batteries to us. This is an old historic home with high ceilings. Bad management and a waste of my time having to call them several times.

The Shaw House was a lovely home. Well-maintained and clean, we were able to make ourselves right at home. We had non-urgent issues with a couple of very slow-draining sinks, and someone was sent quickly to deal with it. He was very nice and did a great job. It's a large home, with spacious rooms and nice bathrooms. The location was perfect for us, as we were interested in the historical downtown area. The beach was about .75-1.0 mile away, depending on which direction you go. I enjoyed taking my daily walk/jog to the beach in the mornings. If you stay here and like Tex-Mex, make sure you walk over to The Original Mexican Cafe - great food, great service. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again.

The house itself was fine other than arriving and the toilet seat being broken and a broke hinge off one of the kitchen cabinets… the BIG negative was the quality of all the mattresses in the house. Think of your grandmas mattress that’s 50 years old.. no one in the house got a good nights sleep. In addition to the mattress the sheets were of the cheapest quality money can buy and felt like sandpaper… in summary the location was great, the house was fine but the mattresses and sheets were of the worst quality imaginable and we will not book this house again or any property being managed by the same people.
