Extremely welcoming staff meeting you with big smiles on arrival. The staff is really determined to make your stay the best 24/7. Be aware that the (young) reception/concierge staff do not always speak a clear English, so you may need to ask more times to get the full understanding of their explanations. The location of the hotel is great - close to main shopping areas, but still in a quiet residential area, with a hospital/pharmacy next door, and an integrated cosy complex with a lot of small handicraft boutiques and not less than four different restaurants that can all keep you busy for days - besides a small pool, library, fitness room and a nice spa. All in all a very good choice if you stay in Kathmandu for more days in a row

They were very gracious and accommodating to make sure my stay was comfortable, fun and pleasant. This is a hidden gem in Kathmandu - undiscovered. I loved my time there and the staff were great.

A tastefully conceived oasis from the chaos of modern Kathmandu far from the crush of commerce and entertainment aimed at the mass of tourists. Location provides access to restaurants, bars, antiques and boutiques on the doorstep of the hotel set in the quiet, liesurely ambience of the historic Babar Mahal Revisted complex.

It was excellent beautiful property
The location was a bit out off the center city
So to get anywhere you need a taxi with a lot off traffic it took a lot off time

Beautiful property with a touch of elegance in every corner .
The check in was seamless ,and we were given a tour of the entire complex with an information of the history of the building .
If in Kathmandu will definitely come back .

Beautiful hotel in historic army barracks. Delightful rooms; incredibly helpful and friendly staff; good breakfasts; perfect courtyard restaurant with good food; lovely shops; and beautiful pool. Close to a park for good early morning runs - or to join an outdoor yoga class.

our room was amazing, but had an odd smell, not sure if it was some kind of smoke or incense. otherwise it was all fabulous!

I am so glad that I chose this hotel for my 2 night stay in Kathmandu after coming back from Everest Base Camp. This property will take you back in time and give you the taste of Nepal. Highly recommended.

The staff were great and welcoming. The facilities were well cared for. The atmosphere was special. Recommend. There will be construction for the next year or so. However, it wasn't really an issue because the early morning and evenings were quiet.

We had a wonderful time at the villas. The shopping and food in the area was fantastic. It is very recognizable by taxi drivers which made transportation easy. There was construction going on during our stay which started prior to 9 AM and continued past 5 PM this was a small inconvenience however the hotel was not very crowded due to Covid and I can definitely understand why they chose this time to do maintenance

It is well prepared place. Compared to staying Hyatt, it is a unique experence better than staying in a 5 star hotel in Kathmandu. Espcially thanks to the receptionist.

I LOVE BABER MAHAL! My favorite place in Kathmandu. Property is clean and with tons of charming character. Manager was super nice and very helpful with getting us around town. They provide free airport pickup. They even let me borrow some rupees before I could get to an ATM. Rooms are adorable with local handcrafted furniture. Lots of restaurants and boutique on the property. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was a refreshing departure from the standard chain hotels that I normally stay at on the road. It's nice to have such a departure without sacrificing quality or comfort.
I will stay here again and I have already recommended it highly to numerous colleagues.

We travel to Nepal extensively and have stayed at a wide range of hotels. Baber Mahal impressed us quite a bit. The beauty and quality of rooms rivals Dwarika's Kathmandu. The Rana style is a nice change from the busy streets of the city.
The shopping and dining within Baber Mahal is wonderful. You can spend your days out in the city and enjoy quiet, restful evenings strolling the property and dine in a different area each night all week. The breakfast included with our room was good and offered continental options as well as a few traditional choices. One note: my husband always orders an omelet and he could not say enough wonderful things. It made his top list of favorite omelets!
There is a lovely open air pub off of the lobby that makes a nice stop for a cocktail or coffee before heading out or back to your room after a long day.
We had the Singha Suite. Plenty of room to spread out, get work done, sip tea on the balcony overlooking the main courtyard, get a good night's sleep on a nice firm mattress, and tip toe out to the pool next to our room for sunrise. The bathrooms are particularly large and clean. Only lacked a hairdryer and I suspect I would have requested one.
Overall, the staff went above and beyond to see that we were comfortable and well cared for. I will be back!

This hotel is a beautiful architecture and full of warm hospitality!
Especially, the staff of breakfast restaurant were very helpful and informative.
I enjoyed staying at this hotel for two weeks except two nights when a noisy guest stayed in the next room.
Highly recommended hotel for travellers who would like to experience traditional Nepal culture and warm hospitality.

Great service and a very good room. So glad I found this hotel. The spa could use employees that have professional training in massage therapy though. The price is high for non certified people giving massages with some questionable techniques.

Nice property grounds with a good selection of restaurants and shops. Very cute, calm and cozy oasis in the midst of Kathmandu.

Building Full of character, management and staff just excellent.

Service was largely really good at the front desk and the restaurant. Once, I came 5mins before breakfast ended and the server still got the kitchen to provide me with some food.
The room is largely clean and the setting is really lovely. Appliances are new and the bed was rather clean. Loved the rain shower as well.
Only one hiccup was when the aircon failed in the day and I had to endure 2 hours in the unheated room in winter. Fortunately, that was fixed in a few hours.

At first glance the place is very nice and the staff is wonderful. The bed should be more comfortable. The place could be cleaned more thoroughly and rooms given air purifiers for all the dust. The shower at the bottom of the glass also has lots of mold. The food provided by the hotel and it's restaurants is not very good. The Indian was flavorless even compared to what we get in the States, the Nepali food was not as good as other places in Nepal, and the continental was very bad. On my way out I was charged $20 USD for a car that was no better than a local taxi when I had a nice car for that amount on the way in. I would not be so harsh if this place was not listed as a 5-star hotel and charged European and American prices like it was a 5-star. In my humble opinion it should be a 3 or 3.5 star. The history of the place, boutique style, and customer service give this place huge potential if other issues can be addressed.

Stayed here as needed to attend some meetings nearby, but also brought my family (wife and 2 young children). Fantastic boutique hotel in the centre of Kathmandu. In terms of location, it is close to government and ministry offices and the CBD. It is a short journey by taxi to the more "touristy" areas and not far from the airport (all dependent on traffic of course!). The Baber Mahal Revisted complex has a great selection of upmarket shops and good quality restaurants. I would highly recommend Chez Caroline for dinner. The hotel itself affords a fascinating glimpse into the history of a Victorian-era palace and has been restored very well. The rooms are large and spacious and very tastefully furnished. The staff, in particular the manager, Prabin, were incredibly helpful and responsive. I would recommend staying here and look forward to staying again when I'm next in Kathmandu.

The unique architecture, library of historical books on Nepal and the small garden courtyard were a nice refuge after long hustle-bustle days in Kathmandu. Hotel's restaurant also provided a nice selection of local dishes. Highly enjoyable, boutique intimate feeling and would recommend to anyone.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was very accommodating, we were leaving early in the morning prior to breakfast being ready and they accommodated us cooking us an omelet each prior to our departure while also assuring with booking our bus ticket and cab. The toiletries were good. The only complaint I could have from what I experienced was that the shower did not get very hot and also it is a rain head shower (I personally do not prefer). Best room we had in Kathmandu
