The staff were the friendliest I have ever encountered in any hotel and go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay.
Our room was very small, however that is what to expect when booking the economy room.

What a find!! A wonderful, traditional hotel with amazing staff who couldn't have been more helpful.
Everything was amazing, there was nothing that could be improved upon.

Good ryokan experience but beware if you are a large Westerner - rooms and bathroom are small and headroom is tight. Staff are wonderful and very helpful and gorgeous. The Onsen next door is fabulous! Great restaurants nearby recommended by staff.
Accommodation is generally tight in Japan so you get used to it. Breakfast is limited but still appreciated.

The staff was super friendly and helpful, they answered every question I had about the culture and events. They even recommended some places and events to me. When I checked out I was allowed to leave my backpack there and get it later, when I came back I was offered ice-cream, drinks and place to sit.

Good Breakfast and Service but Location is a little far from Train Station by foot.

Modern reconstruction of a traditional ryokan, so best of both for tradition and comfort. Unbelievably detailed info on check-in, welcome drink and snacks, maps...and friendly staff.
Novelty of unpacking your bed and mattress each night and sleeping so low down.
Location was a long walk from the centre. I hadn't realised just how big the city was. But it was on major bus routes to hop in and out of the centre and sights out of town.
We stayed 3 in a room so found it a little tight for space when the beds were out.

The staff were amazing! so helpful and accomodating. I had never been to a public bath house before and the lady at reception came with me to make sure I got in okay and knew where to go! They also had tea and sweets prepared for us while we checked in and offered to help set our futons up.

Great location and a charming inn with warm and friendly staff. The room is traditionally Japanese, so small and very basic but comfortable. Breakfast was simple but tasty, and free snacks and tea were provided in the afternoon/evening. We were given excellent guidance as to the location and attractions in Kyoto, including some amazing local Japanese restaurants.
The bathroom was absolutely tiny!

My family of 4 stayed 3 nights and enjoyed very much this charming boutique Ryokan. I will give 5 star and highly recommend it. We dropped off the luggage in the morning then went out to the city. When we came back in the evening, the friendly staff right away prepared warm tea for us. Room was super clean. The futons and pillows were so comfy. We all slept very well. Bed linen and bath towels are all in high quality. We liked the wooden slippers, soft cotton PJs, fresh flowers, etc. The property shall be over 100 years but the interior has been renovated and is very charming and well maintained, keeping the traditional style which we are looking for, and combining some modern taste. The workmanship and materials are super good. Floor, window, wood screen, bathroom, etc are all well built. I am very impressed by some details. Staff are great and they can speak English.
We were so surprised that they provided the bath tickets for us to go to the public bath Go Ko-Yu just right cross the street. So convenient. They gave a small cute basket with shampoo to each person for us to take it to the onsen. This is so considerate and lovely. The bath facility is large, clean and well equipped. Also it is highly recommended. We enjoyed so much the hot spring bath every night after a long day activities and were so relaxed when in the bath.
There is a 24h laundry service not far walking distance. The laundry room is clean and the equipment are good. The washer and the dryer are combined into one machine, rather than two, so you don’t need two steps of taking out wet clothes from washer and putting them into dryer.

The place reflects the character of the riokan, very nice service, delicious breakfasts, the price includes the entrance to the Japanese bath (opposite). I recommend this place!
Poor soundproofing between rooms, but guests respect each other and try to be quiet..

The Ryokan has a great location near the JR Line Station Tambaguchi. The staff is so friendly and helpful and everything seems very familiar.
The design of the hotel is aesthetically pleasing and cozy, especially the little Zen garden. We loved the refreshing happy hours from 5 to 10 pm to grab some good tea and snacks.
It's also so nice to come back from a long day of sightseeing and visit the public bath for free right over the street. The breakfast was also pretty amazing japanese and western style. I also want to mention that you get super cool classic japanese pyjamas for the time you stay there, they are super cozy. The staff also helps you with making your own bed. I asked for an extra mattress and it was no problem at all. This hotel is definitely a 10/10 and we definitely would recommend it to everyone who wants to make a traditional japanese experience. It's super relaxing.
The only thing to mention here is, that it was hard to get a constant temperature in the shower. But you can use the public bath everyday and that is so much better than a normal shower.

An excellent accommodation! Staff is very friendly, thoughtful and helpful. The room is a comfortable traditional Japanese room which made the experience very unique! Breakfast is of excellent quality. There is a public bathhouse opposite the accommodation, and it’s free for the accommodation guests which was a pleasant surprise. Would 100% recommend!

Staff and hotel were fantastic. Added bonus to get free access to the public baths across the road. Great for the hotel to give hostel style suggestions for things to see and do while in Kyoto.
Windows let in quite a bit of noise in a room facing the road at night.

Ryokan is located in a quiet residential area where we was able to experience a feel of the local areas of Kyoto.
When we arrived we was greeted by friendly staffs and was offered green tea and some Japanese sweets. They even gave us free maps and advised us how to get to places around Kyoto.
The room was clean and very cosy. Futon bed was very comfortable and warm.
Free onsen was offered at the public bath house opposite the ryokan which we used to relax after a long day of walking and sightseeing.
Breakfast included was nice and well presented. The pork cutlet roll with mayo was so good I ended up having seconds and the rice with tofu miso soup was so good too. The staff really does put in alot of effort to prepare breakfast for their guests.
Overall we had a really lovely stay here and would definitely recommend this ryokan.
Nothing. Everything was perfect 😊

This place was wonderful. The staff, their helpful attitudes, the attention to details, and location are great. My room in the annex was superb. One of the best things about this Inn is the adjacent, free Onsen! I will stay here again.

Luck You is the perfect place to stay in Kyoto. The staff are truly what make the stay. They continuously went out of their way to make us comfortable, gave us lots of tips on where to go and what to do and showed genuine care and interest. Special mention to Shizuka-san who was incredibly patient, kind and helpful throughout our stay. The facilities were amazing with beautiful tatami, garden and comfy futons. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of variety and options. highly recommend going to the onsen across the road and renting bikes from Luck You.
couldn’t fault the stay - loved it.

Staff was amazing from welcoming us to our departure, Miyu Ota, the manager explained everything and was helpful with guiding us to where we wanted to go. The onsen across the street was clean and free for guests. A perfect ryokan experience
Nothing I could think of. Everything was a perfect 10.
