Beautiful location with a gorgeous view from the cabin. Delicious food.

The road into the hotel was rough and full of pot holed - very hard going to drive - obviously not the fault of the hotel, but useful for guests to know.

Idyllic getaway just 2 hours from Cape Town.

Beautiful surroundings & views, comfortable accommodation with great attention to detail, friendly helpful staff. Ideal spot to get away from it all.

Gravel road getting there. And if I have to be really pernickety…the spider web in my shower window.

We can't wait to return!

Coot Club is a wonderful addition to the south coast of South Africa. The boathouses are divine - beautifully furnished with extraordinary views. The Spookhuis is a gem - and those milkwoods around the dining area are priceless. The pizzas on Friday nights are perfect and the light lunch was just what we wanted after a long walk to the sea and a kayak. Ben and Michele were both very warm and welcoming and helped pack cooler boxes and organize dinner last minute on the first night.

While not a game changer, it would be nice to have some private outdoor space at the Boathouses, or some seating outside. We cooked dinner there on the second night, but as there was no braai, we had to make another plan. As well, the door between the main bedroom and kitchen was in an awkward position and kept sticking.

Decadent, laid-back luxury, overwhelming beauty, a true retreat that appeals to the whole family.

The dining setting is magical under the trees or inside the sensational Club House. Loved the staff who had empathy, wit, humour, made us feel at home and anticipated our needs well.

A lot of flies during meal prep in the home (not at the Clubhouse)

This is a hidden gem. Beautiful scenery, exceptional food and comfortable accommodation.

Fabulous lagoon side experience

We loved the peace and quiet, the views, the breakfast, the cottage decor and the staff. It's a fantastic location on the edge of the lagoon.

Very relaxing country stay

This property is very special as it is a real get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. But with all the comforts of a well equipped cottage with good wifi and netflix. The cottage was very spacious. There are lovely spots to sit and enjoy the views of the mountain and lagoon. We liked the meal packs which really mean that you could come and stay here with minimal planning as the meal packs contain everything you need for a delicious meal. The reastaurant on site is also very good.

I wish that the cottage we stayed in had better views from the cottage. There are so many trees around that cottage that you really have almost no view .

A Safehaven in the midst of life's madness

The quietness of the place gets to us every time. We were here in May and came back for that exact reason. The fact that it has all the creature comforts you need and then some is a bonus. Love having breakfast delivered to the door, especially after a long hike or paddle.

Relaxing and rejuvenating location. Book it and breathe it in.

The location was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. I would return any time. From the minute we arrived we were warmly greeted despite being a tad late due to road works. The staff was attentive and helpful and the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

I wish I could have stayed longer.

GREAT COTTAGE STAY

We had a good stay at the Spookhuis Cottages. We stayed at the Milkwood 1 cottage, it was private and secured from the rest of the cottages. We had access to many facilities which the cottage hosted. Indoor fire place, outdoor fire place, it has everything you need for a getaway. One of the best features of the main bedroom is the outside shower where it actually have warm water. The second room has a queen size bed and also a single bed with a bathroom of your own and shower. We received excellent service and also they clean every morning at the cottages. The cottage was clean and hosts welcomed us. The facility hosts a pool where you are able to enjoy and also many activities which includes quad biking, boat rides and also one of the best sunsets moving away from the jetty. The Spookhuis also offers for breakfast for guests, which is a superb breakfast enjoyed on the terrace. We opted for breakfast and it is served between 09:00am - 11:00am daily. They also have a restaurant that offers light lunches if you not in the mood to cook, and offer frozen foods from their light lunch menu. Thank you to the front office staff that assisted us and always available. I would advise that you go with a SUV or 4 X 4 as it is a gravel road which leads to the cottages.

I liked that it’s situated by the lake, and the rusks were delicious!

They could upgrade to a bigger geyser for the shower. Also, a tv that doesn’t keep disconnecting.

Very peaceful and relaxing in the most spectacular setting

The location is absolutely beautiful for a relaxing time away. The staff were so accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was fantastic aswell

Awesome location

Because of Covid restrictions, breakfast was brought to us in the mornings. The staff were extremely helpful and we had two real nice days away from everything.

Highly recommended, wish i could just simply go back there tomorrow!

The Manager that welcomed us, the staff that cleaned daily and grounds men - absolutely fantastic. Friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Studio flat was huge, beautifully decorated and had all that was promised on the site. The location and grounds were beautiful.

Northing to do with the stay and staff, just a warning for those not in larger SUV cars - the dirt road on which one must travel does get flooded when there are heavy rains

Lovely, I would love to come again!

Lovely, quaint house with stunning surrounds. Quiet, peaceful, tranquil. Loved the fireplace outside and the relaxing outdoor seating. Great pool area as well.

Kitchen could be better equipped. Pity it is so small. We had an issue with the oven, something wrong with the stove plates, so they would benefit from upgrading the kitchenette. The indoor fireplace also smoked up the house a lot! Had to open doors on a cold evening. This place would also really benefit by a kolkol hot tub!!!! It would add loads of value! I do think the cottage is a biiiit over-priced taking the above issues in consideration.

Exceptional

Loved the quietness of the place - where they are situated it is a one road in and out so no passing traffic!! The place we stayed in has absolutely everything you could want i.e. shampoo & conditioner in the bathroom with body wash and cream, coffee in various forms, different teas, different sugars, salt & pepper, milk and the most divine rusks!! AND an electric blanket on bed so you will never feel the cold there. Fireplace inside too with all the wood provided. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience, especially Lathiswa who is so super friendly and accommodating. She is a gem, don't lose her!!!

Only recommendation I could make would be to provide steak / sharp knives in the kitchen and a bigger drying rack. The existing one will smash a few dishes if you're not careful :)
