Situated in Kailua, this charming house for $2,257 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Hale Mahina is a lovely beach home located on a pristine, secluded white sand beach that can only be accessed by a few houses on the property, or by boat. Everywhere you look is the sparkling ocean. Wake up each morning to a glorious sunrise to start your day. The sound of the ocean fills the whole house which gets a gentle breeze most of the year. The house is two stories, the main level is above the garage so it overlooks the ocean. The hot tub sits up against the lush green mountain and is a great place to relax and enjoy the spectacular view. Don't be surprised if you see giant sea turtles swim up to say hello. You can let the rest of the world melt away in this little piece of heaven. The home is one of the first built in Lanikai. We've kept the original look but updated it with hardwood Ohia floors, granite counters in the kitchen, and new lighting throughout. This is a very special home in a unique location. Lanikai is a highly sought after subdivision of Kailua. This property is only booked once during a 30 day period however, you may request a term less than 30 days. There is no better situation in Lanikai than from this classic Hawaii home looking directly at the iconic Mokes and hearing the waves lap right below your windows.
The house is cooled by ocean breezes, has large airy light rooms, updated kitchen with everything needed to cook for a family. Our 2-year old and four-month-old grandchildren use sound machines at home to go to sleep. Here the ocean lulled them to sleep.
Gina, our host, could not be any nicer. She is incredibly responsive, accommodating and a delight to interact with. Doug, her property manager, makes sure you have everything you need.
This was a superb place to spend our family vacation and we are truly sad to leave.

The beach house was at a great location! Like everyone says, we had a little private beach that was perfect for our 23 month old daughter. It was amazing that we got to have the best view of the waters first thing in the morning. It was an absolute dream!
Gina was super easy to communicate with and she was hands down the best host I had the pleasure of having. She helped us rent a kayak so my family (two year old included) had the best New Year's day out in the waters. She also had a highchair we were able to use at the dining table which was great!
I do want to be honest about our experience so here were the downsides. I think it was the app's fault but check in instructions were not sent to my messages on the app so I had to reach out to VRBO's customer service to check out why I wasn't receiving anything. I got anxious because we were already in Hawaii and had no idea how to check in. Thankfully, VRBO was able to contact Gina and she texted me the instructions immediately.
Another thing was that the electricity in the house was acting up during our trip. I reached out to Gina and she advised to reset the breakers which didn't solve the issue permanently. The microwave, disposal, electrical stove did not work when we most needed them and had no hot water for the showers one night. It was odd because there were times when they did work so we weren't sure if it was normal for the electricity to act that way because the house was on the beach or if something was really damaged. The maintenance staff figured it out on our 2nd to last day and said it was a faulty main breaker. In order to fix it immediately, he had to make the jacuzzi unavailable for the last two days. To be honest, it was really stressful for us that the electrical appliances didn't work and if it weren't for the electricity issue, this review would've been 5 stars!

We had a wonderful stay at Gina's property. It has probably the best view on the island.
The beach was great too. It was only shared with a few nextdoor neighbours but it felt very private.
We had a few minor issues during our stay but they were all resolved very promptly.
We'd love to come back again one day!

50th Anniversary Family Trip
Three generations enjoyed this beautiful home with a private beach and hot tub. We were lucky to spot sea turtles and did some snorkeling.

We kayaked out to the Mokulua Islands and watched the sun rise every morning from the beach and living room windows of the house. The views are so beautiful it’s really difficult to explain! Being this close to the beach is a rarity and the convenience and privacy of it all was an experience to behold. We will definitely be back sometime in the future!

Our first trip to Oahu (but not Hawaii) for vacation, and we wanted something close to Honolulu but away from it. Found this house, and it was perfect! The location is absolutely to die for, and the views are spectacular (the photos don't really do it justice!). The house itself is an elegant older home, very comfortable. Not luxurious but tons of space and very comfortable. We loved the location too, with essentially your own private beach right out your front door, a 10 minute drive to "downtown" Kailua, and only 30 minutes drive to Honolulu (we went into the city for dinner several nights). The staff who manage the property are top notch! We would for sure go back again!

A relaxed, rambling house with the perfect beach for small kids. Big kitchen for family meals. Close to shopping and restaurants but private and quiet. Bigger waves a short drive away. Something for everyone!

Sublime Elegance
Sublime elegance perfectly describes this stunningly-beautiful location and beachfront home. The setting is jaw-dropping. The home is wonderfully comfortable with panoramic views of the ocean's turquoise water that is literally steps away. It is rarified space. As a historic preservationist, I particularly appreciated the vintage 1930s home that has been lovingly and beautifully restored. We are a three generation family that have been vacationing for four years in Kailua. Without a doubt, this is our favorite home. Thank you Gina for your generous and gracious spirit for sharing this remarkable property.

Amazing place
Few things in life live up to expectations and the photos. This place delivers. We had an amazing family gathering for my dad's 70th birthday - 6 adults and 4 kids. I am confident we will be talking about this trip for years to come. Gina made everything so easy. The private beach was perfect for our group and we were on it every day. The views from every room in the house were spectacular. The hot tub was used every night and we even grilled out a few nights when we weren't up for going out for dinner. Overall, a very functional and thoughtfully laid out home.

Screensaver Perfect
This place is a slice of heaven. Our family of 6 had an amazing time and the private beach just makes it so much more relaxing. Gina is so accommodating and Laura who did all our grocery shopping before we arrived was amazing! My wife and I loved watching the sunrise from the lower patio depicted in the picture, such a peaceful way to begin the day with a cup of coffee (take me back!!). You won't be disappointed, in fact, you'll be talking about when you can come back. Thanks Gina!!!

Hale Mahina Paradise
Always a treasure to return to the paradise of Lanikai. Already determining the next excuse to get back to this perfect spot. Great home for the family-3 married children and 5 grandkids under 5. Who wants to leave? Ate in every night and had an amazing catered meal from Chef Andrew recommended by Gina for a special birthday event.
Gina is a dream and makes travel arrangements so EASY! Rented again thru JN Rentals for vehicles and all went very smooth.

Wow! Wow! Wow!!! Amazing Home - Perfect Location - Highly Recommend
Where do we start? Once you pull through the gate to this beautiful home, you realize you picked a very special place to stay. The location is amazing - the beach is gorgeous - the home is perfectly equipped. My husband and I stayed here in late July with our two kids and our son's girlfriend. There was more then enough room for everyone - the kitchen was more than adequately supplied. Comfortable beds, plenty of beach towels and toys. Did I mention the beach? It is perfect - even with sharing with the other families that are renting the other properties, there was always plenty of room for everyone! Gina was more than helpful to organize kayaks to be delivered to the house (highly recommend going to the island), she also recommended an amazing massage therapist that came to the house as well as a chef. The maintenance staff was so incredibly friendly and you always knew someone was around if needed yet still felt like you had 100% privacy. You cannot go wrong renting this fabulous property! We cannot wait to come back! Mahalo!!!!

Every day picture perfect view!
This home was a perfect spot for our family vacation! We came out to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. It is an easy location to get to from the airport, which was great after a long day of traveling. When you get the view out of the big picture windows, you will need to pinch yourself. The private beach was our favorite spot on the entire island. Convenient to get to anywhere on the island. The home comfortably held 5 adults and 2 children. The beach towels and boogie boards provided were a wonderful plus. Gina helped to coordinate having kayaks and a SUP delivered to the home so we could head out to the islands (wear some water shoes and bring a camera!). You must go to see the Monk Seals. There was some good snorkeling right off the beach as well. Perfect for a beginner. We all miss hearing the ocean as we fell asleep. I would highly recommend staying at this property!

Memories Made
I have been home for two weeks and can’t stop thinking about this trip. This home is beautiful and all the pictures are true to life. We had a private chef, private beach, and the layout of the house was perfect. The kids could watch movies in the main area while the adults cooked and talked in the kitchen. The views are extraordinary and mesmerizing. You don’t need to leave the home except to shop for food. Gina is the best owner to deal with. Private beach, hot tub, two patios.....everything you need!! And the beds are awesome!! I hope to go again sometime. It was the trip of a lifetime!

Property is absolutely stunning!!!
This Adorable Beachfront House was simply perfect for our two family’s. Location is very private making you feel like you have your own slice of paradise. There is a great little beach just below the house that makes it very easy with the kiddos to play and swim. Gina the owner was fantastic to rent from and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. She even helped us rent paddle boards and kayaks. They delivered right to the house which was super convenient. I would totally recommend it... morning paddle to watch the sun rise was a must do every morning for us. So peaceful and the calm waters off Lanikai are ideal for it!!! All and all... a great House + Location + Hawaiian Charm + Ocean Breezes.... very sad to be leaving and looking forward to returning and staying here again. I would highly recommend this house!

Everything you imagined and more!
This was my first time to Oahu and prior to coming to the house I was in Honolulu for a week on business. Needless to say I was ready to relax. I had 4 friends fly from all over the country to meet me and we all had one goal in mind -- peace and relaxation. This house and property delivered that and more. The house was absolutely stunning. I travel throughout the world for my job and vacation and I can truly say the house and view are breathtaking. The views from the almost full glass windows overlooking the ocean are stunning. The private beach also affords a level of serenity that makes you feel you are alone in paradise. The town with multiple restaurants, shops and supermarkets is a 5-10 minute drive and the drive along the coast provides access and views to some of the most stunning beaches in the world. Gina and her sister were AMAZING! They made the transition to the house and reservations for activities flawless. the nearest houses afford a level of privacy that makes you forget you are not on your own private island. There are multiple activities and sites and the drive to the North Shore is picturesque. And for nighttime, if you want to stay in, the well-sized deck, barbeque and hot tub overlooking the ocean provide the perfect setting to end what i can only describe as perfect days. The house was well maintained, clean, spacious and had a breeze that rivaled any fan or sound machine. All in all, our stay was one of the best and I can't wait to book my return in the future. If you're looking for the perfect place to forget about life, this house is it.

Secluded, relaxing, private
Gina is a lovely host, and her home is a very private, secluded escape right on the beach at the south end of Lanikai. It was exactly as described. My family has rented from Gina previously, and we hope to do it again in the future. Absolutely no complaints and the highest of marks all around.
