Welcome to "The Big Pono Aloha" our private condo at the Pono Kai Resort and your home away from home while you visit the beautiful area of Kappa Town on the Coconut Coast in beautiful Kauai. "The Big Pono Aloha" has everything you need for the perfect stay. Aloha!. :) - This is Joel and Tamara and we are brand new owners of this wonderful condo which we have decided to call "The Big Pono Aloha". A few years ago we stayed in this condo for a month and fell in love and as fate would have it we bought it! :) Now we get to share our home with you! This has been an active vacation rental for years and now is under new ownership. So even though the VRBO listing is new, hundreds of satisfied guests have enjoyed their stay at "The Big Pono Aloha". In May of 2019 we did a major renovation to the condo including new flooring, fixtures, paint, AC and so much more. Complete Amenities: Full kitchen, dining room, living room, private lanai, 2 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms with private entries, pool, hot tub, spa, tennis, exercise room, volleyball, BBQ grills, FREE WiFi, 3-mile bike path along the ocean and FREE PARKING! Don't waste money on an expensive hotel room for $300-$400 a night! Hotel rooms are small and expensive! "The Big Pono Aloha" is well BIG! Most people say it's located in the best spot at the Pono Kai. You are on the second floor so you get AMAZING views and nobody above you plus there are elevators for easy access. This condo comfortably sleeps 2-6 people in the beds! No inconvenient living room hide-a-bed. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and private bathroom/vanity (sleeps 2). The second bedroom has a queen bed PLUS a twin bunk bed (sleeps 4 easily), TV, and private access to the 2nd bathroom. A coin-operated laundry room is just down the hall, steps away for easy access. Elevator access makes for easy coming and going. Walk seventy-five feet to a sandy beach, pool, hot tub, beautifully manicured gardens, tennis courts, a croquet court, barbecue/picnic areas, volleyball, fitness center, and shuffleboard. Take a short walk from the resort for great island boutique shopping, food, and recreation in historic Kapaa. There are three portable AC units for your convenience in the bedrooms and kitchen however most guests don't need them due to the refreshing ocean breezes. Ceiling fans in Kitchen, Living Room, and both Bedrooms for additional air circulation. Authentic Hawaiian Oceanfront living. It is privately managed so any requests for maintenance, cleaning or help during your stay need to be communicated directly with our management company and us and not the front desk at the Pono Kai. We always recommend that our guests obtain travel or vacation insurance for their stay in case your plans change as we strictly follow our cancelation and refund policy as outlined in our listing. The week at Pono Kai was awesome. The condo is spacious and has a lot of amenities. The location is perfect for teens who want to venture shopping on their own. Would love to stay there again!

My wife and three young adult daughters stayed for a week over Christmas. Really enjoyed going to sleep at night listening to the waves, having morning coffee on the lanai with the beautiful sunrise, the great beach access, the walkway and short walk to local shops and restaurants in Kapaa. Was a great space and central location to enjoy Kauai! Would highly recommend.

We had the most INCREDIBLE stay at this condo! The beach view does not get any better than this! It is also spacious with a full kitchen (which saved us a lot of money on food), has VERY comfortable beds, two large bathrooms and a comfortable living area to relax after long days in the sun! We loved having the AC units available if we needed them. This host was great at communication and has truly thought of and provided everything needed to have a great vacation! We really enjoyed having Tommy bahama beach chairs and beach umbrellas, beach towels, boogie boards and sand toys all provided by the host. We have had to rent those items in the past on trips to Kauai and it can be pricey, so we really loved having them available and ready to use! We used them everyday. One thing to keep in mind is that because this is a private rental, the resort does not provide pool towels, so bring the beach towels from the condo when you hit the pool! We loved the pool and hot tub. The resort itself is breathtaking. It has hammocks all around the resort for lounging, along with games , BBQ’s and other things to do. We enjoyed the nice little beach right outside the condo that we went to when we didn’t want to drive to another beach. You can’t beat this spot! Our stay here was by FAR our favorite visit to Kauai and a lot of that credit goes to this condo being close to shops and beaches and the host providing everything we needed and more! We will absolutely be back for another stay here!

My mom and I recently stayed at the Big Pono Aloha, and had a great experience. The location of the resort and the resort itself were perfect. It's super easy to walk to anything you need in Kapa'a from the condo, and the beachfront walkway is right outside your door.
We had a couple issues during our stay that were quickly resolved by the on island management team and the property owner. Despite the problems, I'd stay again and recommend the property to my friends and family.

Well maintained and a comfortable home to stay in. Property was well kept with constant maintenance to upkeep, all staff were polite and helpful. Did not have all the amenities because we rented through VRBO but the house was equipped with what we needed (pool towels). Location can’t be beat, view was impressive. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful experience, we were able to relax and enjoy the beach view, wake up every morning and watch the sunrise. We went to go to the nearby grocery store, and made our own food. We were also able to go to the local beaches and use the beach gear provided in the closet. I highly recommend Lydgate beach park. We had an absolute all-around great experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.

We enjoyed this condo very much. The only complaint or suggestion would be to update the bathtub/shower and the spare bedroom is a little dark. Otherwise, perfect spot.

This property was just as advertised! It was a great location and had a beautiful view. We witnessed a few breathtaking sunrises. The main bedroom has a beautiful picture window with ocean views, and we fell asleep each night to the sounds of the waves. Easy to walk to restaurants/shops in Kapaa, including easy access to shave ice! :) We are a family of 4 (kids age 4 & 8) and we loved the pool, yard games and access to all the beach equipment you will need for a fun stay. We also used the communal grills several times. We liked the location of the condo, as it provided easy access to all areas of the island. Laundry is not in the unit, but it is very easy to access - just bring your quarters. We never had trouble running a load when needed. We had one minor issue with the door code, but the hosts/property managers responded immediately and no other issues for the rest of our stay! We will gladly stay here again on a future stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Pono Kai. The property had beautiful views as advertised. It was lovely to have the view from both the lanai and the master bedroom. Spacious kitchen and almost fully stocked. Some supplies for the beach as well! Thanks for a wonderful stay! Hope to be back some day!

This condo was perfect for our son, his wife and their young son.
The views of the water and the sunrise were spectacular even when it was a bit cloudy.
They used the pool and hot tub every day for at least two hours. We all used the BBQs for meals on several days.
The place was spotless and very well stocked with everything they needed. Boogie boards and snorkels were unexpected but so nice to have. We did not want to spend the money to buy them but to be able to borrow them was such a treat.
I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone I know.

Perfect location, beautiful view of the ocean with sunrise every morning. The condo had everything we needed. We have been here for a week and have had beautiful weather for end of December/early January. There was no need to contact the owners during our stay but before we left I had a couple questions and got an answer right away.

Ocean front at a beautiful resort. If you love to wake up and fall asleep listening to the sound of the ocean, and walking along the oceanfront literally steps from your door, this is the perfect spot. Lots of room to stretch out, family time, quiet time. Spacious bathrooms and family room areas bigger than pictured. AC units and the Resort amenities made it even better. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, hammocks, renting snorkeling gear, grilling fresh tuna and walking into the shopping areas. PERFECTION for our first trip. I've stayed in many places on Kauai but this was truly a lovely spot with the beach only steps away. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to be close to the beach, close to Kapaa, yet away from the road so no traffic noise. Communication with the owners was timely and helpful. If you choose to stay at Pono Aloha, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic property and location for family visit
Terrific condo and terrific location on Kauai. Beachfront makes for super afternoon relaxing (with shade if desired) after a day of exploring, hiking, shopping or whatever. Condo has a great supply of “beach necessities” which really came in handy for activities, plus Pono Kai resort augments with some on-site fun as well (pool, spa, croquet, chess, putting, and gas BBQs). Two coffee shops a very short walk away perfect after watching the sunrise. The property is centrally located with easy access to the north or south and plenty to do right in Kapa’a. The bedroom/bath and # of beds was absolutely perfect for our little family of four with everyone getting their own, real bed (not just a cot or couch like other properties). Kitchen well stocked with utensils and cooking necessities. Being on the windward side for early summer was great because the condo easily aired out with the breeze. Thanks so much, would stay here every time.
