Exceptional

If you want some peace and privacy then Tuckaway is the absolute perfect place for you. My partner and I had the best time. A big thank You to the hosts for the warm welcome. We'll be back soon definetly!

I would not recommend or stay there. It was awful.

The property was not winterized. There was no heat. The floor was freezing the room was below zero. I know it’s winter and cold ti be expected. But there no additional comforts to warm up the room. The heater didn’t work. It was like camping. This maybe a good spot for warmer months - but not winter. I left on Monday for a new booking at Lord Charles also booked by booking.com - I lost money by leaving but I had no choice - I got sick from being there 1 x night. With such a bad experience - is it possible to get some money refunded ?

Home away from home.

The peace and quiet of this place is phenomenal with the birds singing and humming. The atmosphere is unspeakable. The care kit in the bathroom is a marvelous Idea 💡.

The bath had a leaking problem 😞. No iron for the clothes 😭.

A good place to sleep over but not when planning to spend time there.

Nice and clean

In front nice and tidy. but rest of surroundings needs attention. Road on property were very bad for a car, almost need a 4x4. lots of neglected buildings and no gardens around. Also was difficult to find the place and entrance even with Google Maps. Although friendly staff helped us and directed us.

The perfect base for exploring the Cape

Sara is the perfect host, and Tuckaway is the perfect place to stay when in the Cape Town area. The self-contained accommodation is immaculate, very comfortable, and looking out onto an amazing garden, with the mountains of Sir Lowry's pass providing a breath taking backdrop. Quiet and secluded, the beautiful beach and welcoming village of Gordon's Bay, Somerset West and the excellent Somerset Mall are all minutes away by car. I especially like this area for giving easy access to many points around the area within a leisurely drive - Cape Point and the peninsula, Betty's Bay, Hermanus, Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Cape Town itself are all close at hand. I hope it will not he long before I can again return to this beautiful "home away from home."

There's nothing I would want to change or didn't like.

I would not recommend this place

The room was cosy and the view was nice, the area is peaceful and quiet

The room is adjacent to the main house therefore you can hear everything on the other side, also limiting voice control on our end. The room was advertised loadshedding friendly however when we arrived the lights was not charged and one was burnt out and could not be used. One can also not shower during loadshedding as the water supply is completely cut off during this time, which was not communicated prior. There is no kitchen facilities only a bucket that i had i was not told about , only after washing dishes in the basin discovered it. The host also advertised braai facilities and only at the arrival was told we can only braai if there is no wind, which was unacceptable as we packed according to what was on the website, which led to more expenses as we had to purchase food, extra unnecessary driving. The host also hanged around , and shared stories of other guests which was very disgusting and made the room feel dirty and no longer comfortable to sleep in.

Safe, clean, cozy & worth every penny.

It was absolutely so convenient as we visited family in the Strand. The room was cozy, clean & so comfortable …really home away from home & just what we needed for the night.

After reading previous reviews about the dirt road leading into tuckaway from the N2…I decided to take my bakkie instead, was the best decision I could have made as my luxury low vehicle wouldn’t have been able to manage that dirt road.

That it was clean and a nice size.

The fact that the privacy of host is more important than the paying customer,music and braai, was a disturbance to them.

Lovely helpfull host! Great location. Quiet and safe. Cozy studio apartment. Comfy bed. It's a cold room in winter but the portable heater did the job. Nice layout and space use. Perfect for a solo traveler or a couple.

Not a complaint but an observation... the self catering is very basic, you wont be able to cook or braai. But there is a cottage option that has more amenities for this is you like.

Our booking was very last minute and the hosts were incredibly helpful! Tuckaway is peaceful and secluded and the room was enough for our short stay. We loved watching the peacocks in the garden!
