Lake House Oasis. On private Lake Erie beach. Family fun!
About this house rental
Located in Jerusalem Township, this charming house for $770 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Very Rare location. A Lake Erie private beach is just steps down from a fenced backyard and there is a little river/canal across the street. This place is literally "Pure Michigan" right in the Southeast. You'll love it here! Thanks kindly! Rare location!!! A Lake Erie private beach is a few steps down from a fenced backyard and there is a circular canal on the other side of home. This place is literally "Pure Michigan" right in Southeast, Michigan. The home is nothing too fancy, but your here for the lake! Its an older resort home. Our goal was to keep it simple, comfortable, and accommodating so that you can enjoy a relaxing beach life in a quiet community. It is quiet, private, breezy, and healing here. Unwind under the stars and an incredible moonrise. Sleep to the sounds of the waves. Wake up to a sunrise! Its quite unique. This place is great for families. Enjoy yourself while your kids can play on the beach right in front of you or in the fenced in yard's sandbox. There also is a non vented large closet upstairs that holds some toys and child items like a comfy rocking chair, books, pack n play, high chair, bouncer, rock n play, and 2 baby gates for the stair areas. Some gym equipement, ping pong, air hockey, and foos ball in the basement. badminton with balls. Cornhole. Ring toss. Darts. Chess. Drying rack. Beach umbrella. Life jackets. Beach towels. yoga mats. Karaoke machine. The beach is mostly very sandy and just gets bigger through the summer and into the fall months-which are absolutely gorgeous out here! Sept is a favorite. The prettiest time. Still warm being more south and one of the more shallow great lakes. Please note that we cannot be responsible for mother nature such as high water levels, algae, seaweed/debris. All rare but can happen. * 2021 and 2022 had a great summers. No algae anywhere in area. Yey! However, we did have a very hot and a bit of a rainy season in 2021. Keep in mind, that this is a cottage on the water. Flies love humid days. 2022 was perfect though! *Also, be aware that this is a wild private beach. Lake life will have different personalities. It is mostly sandy and the water is clear. Sometimes its calm like glass. Sometimes really wavy. Sometimes seaweed and debris washes up (rake available for you.) 2021 had only three pretty bad seaweed days after a storm that was unpredictable just like rain. Lake Erie is a shallow lake which gives the beach personality and keeps it warm during late spring and early fall for a longer summer season unlike the other deeper colder lakes in up north michigan. *if there is a strong east wind or storm the tide can cover the beach but eventually resides. It still remains very shallow and accessible. Summer 2021 did not have this issue once. The lake is more than suitable for swimming as it is shallow just from shins to under your chest pretty far out with a sandbar (please still swim at your own risk). (Bring watershoes as sometimes there are some rocks.) Some pple bring an anchor and hook up their rafts, jet skis, and boats for easy access to the home. (Free boat launch 5 miles away. Marina Boat launch 1 mile away) There is a large charcoal grill for your bbq. A family artist just built a custom made steel cabana that you can sit and eat under for some shade or to enjoy a majestic rainy day that is often followed by an awesome rainbow. There are 2 kayaks for you for use on the canal (that circles around) or lake that are lightweight and have easy access. We now have a blow up paddle board as long as guests keep them intact. Lots of boggie boards for kids. You may make a beach bonfire but please be respectful of wind conditions and smoke going into neighbors areas as that is not allowed. We have enough outdoor furniture to suit everyone and a folding table available as well. Set up how you would like We do have a security camera installed just in the front driveway overlooking the road simply for your safety and the neighborhoods safety. We value your privacy. Once the gate is entered it is very private for you. Please be aware that this area is on a peninsula a bit far out into the lake. Some phone companies have bad service in this area. We have a landline. We do not offer refunds for power outages and internet issues but we will try to address them as best as we can and recommend travel insurance for all those unexpected events. *This property is being advertised for residential purposes only according to the Michigan state Court cases. the calendar may not reflect booked days according to that due to personal usage and other factors. no commercial short term stays allowed. will do a contract upon booking. Thanks kindly

Loved the location. Beach and water and covered patio area to keep out of the sun was fantastic. House was nice but a second refrigerator would have been a bonus. Also a generator back up would be a huge plus because power was out for several hours both the first and second day. Had a great time. The owner was very responsive.

We had a great holiday weekend at Stony Point! The home was just as pictured with plenty of space for our 4 families. There was lots of extras for our kids too, like sand pit, tons of beach toys and cute little play room. We would return to this home again.

We put together an impromptu family trip (10 adults, 4 kids) and we able to snag the last 2 days in July. We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we would have been able to have the entire week! The bedrooms were spacious and there was a small playroom for the littles. There was a packnplay and a high chair available for use. The seating area outside has a covered section, which was perfect for my in-laws to sit and watch all the action on the beach and everyone playing in the lake. There is also a nice sunroom room that looks out over the backyard and the lake as well. The kids enjoyed the sand play area in the corner of the yard. The beachfront is just a tad bit of rocks mixed with the sand and it is a little rocky for about the first foot out into the water and then begins the sandy bottom. The kids were able to go out a pretty good distance and still be in waist high water. The beds where comfortable and the sheets were soft. The hosts were excellent to work with and were prompt with communication. The home was inviting, nicely decorated and plenty spacious. We appreciated and enjoyed the kayaks and the paddleboard that was available for use. We had all age ranges in our group and everyone enjoyed our stay.
A few things to keep in mind, the kitchen is a galley style so there is not much space for more than one person in the kitchen at a time. Also, if you are considering renting jet skis or a boat, you will need to research ahead of time. We found that the closest places where not open during the week or were closed all together. We ended up renting from a place out of Dearborn, then we were not allowed to use the neighborhood boat launch because we were not owners, even though we told them where we were renting at in the neighborhood. Luckily, the company we rented from had memberships to the state park so, they we able to launch there. There is also a posted strict quiet time starts at 10pm and we adhered to that and were afraid to test out what happened beyond that.

Excellent location for a family vacation
Thanks to Mel for the great communcication, our family of 12 people spent 4 nights at the property and had an excellent time. The house was very clean and exactly as described, it was comfortable for our large group and well equipped. We especially appreciated the washer/dryer, the life jackets for enjoying the water and the kid's toys for inside and outside. Access to the lake is fantastic and we all enjoyed the water and the beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and the nearby grocery store (about 5 miles away) was very convenient.

We had a fabulous time at this property. The owner was so communicative and accommodating. They even put up Christmas decorations for us! There was plenty of room for us to all be together as well as spread out when we needed a little bit of quiet time. It was a special treat that the weather cooperated so well since the house is right on the Lake Erie waterfront. The grandkids love skipping rocks, hunting shells and sea glass, and digging in the sand. And it helped so much having all the baby and kid things around! Definitely recommend this as a great family gathering spot.

Great Family Getaway
Loved the place. Its the rare location your paying for. The beach was private. Felt like a mini ocean coast. The house was clean and amenties were perfect for what we were looking for as a family group. Its hard to find a private beach like this on a great lake. I almost dont want to tell others about this house. Most of the west side beach homes where we have stayed before on Lake Michigan were eroded. But here, a beautiful beach was a few steps down from where I comfortably sat outside with the paper and watched the grandkids play in sand. House had nice decor. Simple and clean. Yard felt very private. Lots of bushes and privacy fence on the side. Nice little touches such as artsy stepping stones with glowing gems in them that everybody thought were neat. Each of the four families had their own comfortable room. Wife and daughters made meals together in the kitchen just fine. Daughter loved the juicer, wok, and instant pot. There was also a kids playground in right in the neighborhood just around the canal-fun little walk. fishing poles were cool. very quiet peaceful area. Very enjoyable. We will be back!!!

Truly an amazing experience!
A much needed relaxing escape with the family! I cant believe this place is located right here in SE Michigan. The home comfortably fit all 13 of us. Living room is large, had a movie night with all of us. The kitchen was impressively stocked more than any rental we have stayed at. The place was clean and felt open and fresh. Rooms were amazing! Beds comfortable with real cotton sheets and good quality pillows thank goodness. beach was big and sandy. The water was calm like glass! I could have sat out all day just watching the different birds fly by and the kids play. The stars at night were bright. Mel is so nice and really respected our privacy. Kids were able to complete 1st day of school online w no problem. Lots of thoughtful touches. The games and basement elliptical were a plus. The kids didnt want to leave. Beach umbrella. Yoga mats too. We are already looking forward to our next trip back!

I always scratch my head after seeing pics as I thought the house would be bigger - the kitchen is small and there is a funky odor that needs to be figured out. The bedrooms - plenty big - but the downstairs really can't be counted on for square footage - that's just not right - I get others do it - so it's an industry thing. The water was warm which makes up for any small things we didn't like. The beach is small - but private - which is great. Overall - we really enjoyed ourselves - great breezy nights with the waves and stars - hard not to enjoy.

Overall, we felt this property was a mixed bag. The location is really great, but the house itself has some issues, and we found the biting insect situation to eventually be intolerable. If you're coming with a large group, be aware that the kitchen is really small, and you'll probably feel cramped overall.
Pros:
* Right on Lake Erie. Literally steps to the beach. It's great for swimming and it's very relaxing to be right on the water.
* Great water amenities, including a kayak and boogie board.
* There is a sand pit for children.
* Barbeque and fire pit.
Cons:
* Despite the listing description, I don't think the house is 3000 sq ft. I live in a house which is around that square footage, and this house felt much smaller. I suspect that 3000 number includes the unfinished basement. My guess is living areas are around 2000 square feet.
* The kitchen is small. There were only 4 of us and one child, and we were constantly running out of space in there.
* Biting flies and mosquitos are rampant. Because the interior is so small, we found ourselves gathering outdoors as night, but we were so severely bitten that eventually we were afraid to go outdoors.
* Lots of cleanliness issues, including an odor from the kitchen, visible specs of dirt on the floors, and a lollipop stick stuck to the couch.
* The A/C was not functioning in one of the rooms, which led to the room becoming very hot.
Comment:
* While the description mentions a small toy room, I would note this is just a semi-finished part of the attic, with a rug thrown over the subfloor and no climate control. Much of the toys in this room are broken or contain random pieces missing, and many look dirty.
* This is mentioned in the description, but it bears repeating again that the beach may include rocks and seaweed that washes up to shore. Every day of our stay the entire shoreline was lined with seaweed. There is a rake provided, but it's difficult to clean this stuff. I would recommend bringing water shoes to help with walks on the beach.

Home Away From Home....With Benefits!
What a wonderful week! And what a wonderful host! Mel was INCREDIBLY speedy in responding to all of my questions, no matter how small, and extremely helpful with suggestions and ideas for my family and I. The home's location is wonderful...nothing super fancy but everything you would have at YOUR home...PLUS some! My family loved our time at the lake.....the canal....the local Root Beer Stand....the kayaks and paddleboard provided by the home....the awning covered table overlooking the lake.....yea, we'll be back!

My family (3 Grandparents, 2 parents, and 2 kids ages 1.5 & 6) had a wonderful stay, The house was clean and comfortable with 2 bedrooms on the first floor for the older people, and the rest upstairs. It was really nice to have a bathroom on both floors. The kids spent 90% of the time in the lake with the kayak even though there was an impressive number of toys already at the house. The older grandchild had fun with the Ping Pong and Air hockey tables in the basement. We fished in the channel behind the house and yes.. Grandpa caught 3 fish to win the contest. The Kitchen had everything we needed, and the charcoal grill overlooking the lake on the deck was really big. We had one rainy day, but sat under the roofed gazebo on the deck and read which was really nice. One other thing- you can order breakfasts from a neighbor (info is in the Welcome book at the house). We ordered a couple of breakfasts for the group and they were really good, and we didn't have to cook!

We stayed with our friends, and between our two families we had a teenager, a toddler, and an infant. There was something to do for all of them, the backyard is perfect for the kids to run around, the views are beautiful. The house is impressively stocked with beach chairs, beach towels, toys, boards, backyard games, kitchen is fully stocked and bedrooms were very comfortable and clean. For the 8 of us the size of it was perfect. There is a great little pond on the other side of the house and it’s full of ducks, turtles, birds and it was entertainment for hours for the little ones and fishing for the big ones. The host Mel is very responsive and great, although we didn’t really have any issues to test her on:) we absolutely loved the place and are keeping in on file for our next stay in the area!

We spent 10 days at Stony Point and had a good time in the yard with a nice view of Lake Erie. There were 6 of us and all had a very comfortable bed to sleep in. The 2 bathrooms worked out well for our close family.
Some might find the kitchen small but this goes with the 1940s build of the house. We cooked for 6 just fine. Would have been nice for the ice maker on the fridge to be working but I know these can be fickle if not used regularly.
Outside was spectacular with a shoreline shelter plus extra table. There were many chairs to use, games such as corn hole to use and kayaks if you are adventurous.
In short Pros- great space for a large group spending time outside. 2 washer and dryers to keep up with everyone’s laundry. Very comfortable beds.
Cons- the only con I would write is the 2 couches (which can turn into beds) are very uncomfortable to sit on to watch the large TV in the spacious living space. They are too low with a short lower cushion.
For us out of state it was a great place to stay with many amenities not far away e.g. The Ford museum.
