Overall it was as described. Location is excellent, close to town but far enough away to miss the traffic, House was clean and well maintained. Downstairs shower is small, some challenge getting in/out of shower because of sliding door space being so small. Kitchen needs minor things like lids to saucepans which were missing. Would stay there again.

Great location and view of the water. House is very dated and needs new deck furniture. Only has 2 low sitting chairs so you cannot see the ocean. However, the bed was very comfortable and we had a great time.

Great location. Comfortable home that felt like a time capsule back to 1977. No updated anything which was fine by me. The bedroom setup was nice for separation although the light switches upstairs weren’t working which was an inconvenience. The management were helpful when needed which was nice.

There needs to be some covering on the glass double front doors so the light doesn't affect the turtles and we were not on display at night. Wish the refrigerator had an automatic icemaker and the 3rd bedroom at the top of the stairs had a door to close so early risers in the kitchen below would not wake the person in that room.

A lovely cozy house with a beautiful view of the bay. Clean towels and bed linens were provided. I ran a bit short on funds for laundry and showering; there was also a shortage of toilet paper and paper towels. Additionally, there was inadequate outdoor lighting on the first floor and external power outlets. Apart from that, everything was good.

You couldn’t ask for a better view from a rental across the street from the beach. Beach access is also just across the street from this property. There is drip coffee maker as well as a Keurig, a 4 slice toaster, and dishwasher and oven/stove. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking and eating utensils. Make sure to bring extra paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent etc. Refrigerator doesn’t have an ice maker, there are a few ice trays. One of the three TVs is in the ground floor room. No DVD player. This room only has a half bath, so anyone sleeping there would have to go up to the main floor to shower. Beds were comfortable, as mentioned in a previous review we couldn’t find a way to turn on the ceiling fan and light in the loft bedroom. The sliding shower door in the bathroom on the living room level would be a problem for anyone with a large stature. When open there is only about a foot of space to get into the shower! The doors need to be changed to a hinged type door. Locks on the Sliding glass doors to the balconies need to be replaced! They have screws pushed into holes that were drilled into the frame to keep the doors from opening. The screws can be removed so you can open the door but they are difficult to put back. The Adirondack chairs on the deck are not very comfortable and it’s hard to see the view when sitting in them. All of the things mentioned above are minor issues that didn’t have any effect on our experience in the house. It is located in an area that allows easy access to shops, restaurants, grocery, gas and the bridge to Eastpoint. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Catbird Seat!

Great little house right across the street from the beach! It’s an older home so there’s some very minor wear and tear, but it’s right across the street from the beach! The kitchen, dining, and living room area is spacious and comfortable. Walking across the street to the beach takes 2 minutes and it feels like a private beach since this area has few homes and most of the tourist crowd is further east and west. The ground floor bedroom and half bath is detached from the rest of the house, so you need to walk outside and up the stairs to the main level. This was not an issue for us, and actually gave us a bit of privacy which we enjoyed. St. George Island has no large chain hotels and many small businesses. It has a great small town feel. We loved it and are ready to go back!

We made a quick detour to St. George Island for a couple days and found this home as it apparently was a cancellation. Location is good and access to the beach is great. It has a highly unusual floor plan, with a bedroom that sleeps 2 attached but without direct indoor access to the rest of the main living area. So long as you know this, it’s really not a big deal. Our two teenage boys were a little uncomfortable about this at first, but they adjusted and were fine. The unit is a little dated and some things are worn out and don’t work but nothing major. It’s the little things: the range fan didn’t work, a cooktop coil didn’t work because it had become detached (which we quickly fixed), the shower door handle kept falling off., loose deck boards near the outdoor shower. Nothing major, but also things that need to be fixed. HVAC worked well and we were never hot. But 2 of the toilets are so close to the walls that it’s actually difficult to do your business. We recommend using the upstairs loft bathroom. However, it is nice to have 3 bathrooms !!!! We saw no bugs there. Anything we needed, the property management company provided. We had a beeping smoke detector and were provided a battery. Also received additional dishwasher tabs and garage bags as needed.

The island of St George is waaaaay laid back - actually not a lot to do. The house was 'meh' for the price, and needed a lot of maintenance (actually could use a full reno). It's a pretty old place. The second bedroom is a loft with no door so you hear all the kitchen noises in the am. The beach is gorgeous - especially down at the state park, which is a fabulous state park. We will come back, but it will be in our RV!

Our family had a great experience with this rental. The process was easy, the rental company was pleasant and helpful and the house was perfect. The location was great, we could walk to most restaurants/shops and it has a great view of the beach despite not being directly on it. The walk is so short to the beach you feel as if you are directly on the beach.

No soap and 1 roll of toilet paper in bathroom. No garbage bags or dish soap. This is reason enough to not rent from this company again. The house needs updates - sliding glass doors hardly roll. Bathroom shower doors barely hanging on - they certainly do not use rental money on supplies or updates...

Great location. The walkway to the beach is right across from the house, on the beach in 1-2 minutes. Also liked the fact that there was a small but well stocked grocery a few blocks away (Piggly Wiggly Express). The house was open and airy - great size for my husband and myself. Would return.

Upon opening the front door, the house was bright, clean, welcoming. Typical beach look. Everything was clean, but several roaches noted, some dead, some dying, some feisty. Disappointed that only 2 dishwasher pods were provided, no cleaners or dishwashing liquid. Only one small bar of bath soap. Well stocked with plates, pots, pans, etc., and lots of books in a cabinet behind the bkfst table. Easy walk to the beach, excellent ocean view from deck. The A/C is cold blowing into kitchen, upstairs bedroom is hot with only one floor vent. Xtra room downstairs was unused by us, but has only a wall unit a/c. Easy walking distance to town. Short drive to state park area. Food in SGI is mediocre and over-priced; buy seafood from a truck and get sides, etc. from Piggly Wiggly.

Cute little house but needs a little TLC. This was a girls trip and advertised were three bedrooms. Unfortunately we weren’t aware that the first bedroom on the bottom floor was not attached to the main house upstairs. Not a big problem but a little disappointing. Great location with just a few steps across the street to the beach and very close to restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and the island is very quiet and not overrun with tourists!

We enjoyed our stay at Catbird Seat very much! The location was perfect! There are a some of things that were inconvenient. If you have any mobility/health problems, there are stairs getting into the house and also going to a bedroom. The 3rd bedroom is separate which would be inconvenient for whoever stayed in it, which the laundry area is also there. It could use some updating. But, overall a great experience.

(3) Rooms - 1 room was disconnected from rest of house and adjacent to garage area, little disappointing and may have been in description, should have read more closely. Only (1) bedroom has a door. The other is upstairs but decent room but no door. Linens/bedding were basic accommodations so not extremely comfortable. My only negative feedback. Otherwise unit was in very clean condition, location great, and views (no house across street to block it) was exceptional. For the $ it was well worth the stay. Just be aware of room situation.

We were highly dissatisfied with this rental. From the moment we walked in it smelled of cigarette smoke. There was mold in all of the vents. Multiple things broke during our stay. Overall the house felt very dirty and rundown. The management company was nice, but they were unable to move us as there were no other free rentals available. They offered to send a cleaner out to the house, which they did, but they failed to clean the vents stating it was a maintenance issue and that would be a week long process. Though the management company was nice, they failed to make sure the house was clean and up to standards.

We've been vacationing at SGI for decades. Anyone considering this property for their vacation should be aware of the following: The photos did not represent this property in the size of the rooms, amenities and functionality, not enough seating inside for our party of six, roaches and ants found in bathrooms, outside shower was overgrown with weeds, floors were sagging when you walked on them, furniture was so dirty we used the quilts we brought from home to cover them so we could sit on them. When complaints were made to management, additional plastic Adirondack chairs were brought to us and a partial refund was provided.The view was spectacular and we did enjoy the deck which was newer and very nice. We understand that this is an older property but I would suggest newer pictures to truly represent the size of the rooms and status of the home.

The home owner appears the type that is not going to replace anything no matter age/condition- the mattresses are the worst- they literally sag to the floor - must be 15 to 20 years old. There are no closets but wardrobes that are warped/falling apart/no hangers/really serve no purpose. The screens on windows are laughable as they are shreds that blow in the wind. The downstairs apartment ceiling leaks. One pays a house note for a week rental- expect a bit more than it's appearance. Rental office folks very kind, the house needs a through cleaning which of course can not be done on a quick turn around.

So much to enjoy! LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Having the beach in view, with just a quiet street to cross was perfect. It’s an easy walk to shops, restaurants etc that are in the town center. The space was clean and fairly spacious ...large kitchen and living space, great balcony. Two of the bedrooms were tight but the beds were very comfortable. Showers were Hot with good pressure. The carport was helpful to pack up during a storm!Our only negative was the TV/cable was not working. The rental company made a note, but we never heard back from them. They did come quickly to replace outside lightbulbs. Other things you may want to know: The kitchen has plenty of dishes, cookware and serving pieces. If you plan on doing any cooking bring everything else! This includes dish soap, salt, pepper, coffee filters, dish towels etc. May as well bring any cleaning supplies and extra trash bags, too. The house is older but fairly well maintained. It could use some TLC (faucets, shower heads, towel bar,) but then it probably wouldn’t be as affordable 🤔We would stay here again or recommend it, just come a bit more prepared.

The view on the deck and location was great! Home was clean but in dire need of an update. The shower door on the main level is too small for the space. You had to squeeze yourself to get in and out. And the vent was right over the bed on the main level and would blow air on your face while you were sleeping. Even if you shut the vent, it would whistle all night and you could not sleep. Beds were lumpy too. If this house was renovated, it would get 5 stars. But it was clean and the location and view was great!

I love staying here. I love the location. It’s close to the beach and main business area yet it maintains the secluded island feel. The house is not pretentious but it is extremely comfortable and has a homey feel. My favorite place to get away and rejuvenate. We had a great stay at The Catbird Seat. The rental was in a great location from everything on the island. The view at the rental was breathtaking! The 3rd bedroom is separate like it says in the description from the rest of the living space. It worked well for us being two families sharing the house. The house was very clean and it was recently painted inside.

This house is across the street from beachfront properties, but as of summer 2021 there is no house on the beachfront lot directly across from this house so the view is spectacular! The house itself is good, about what you'd expect at the price point. Be aware that one of the bedrooms is on the ground floor (which is evident from the pics) and it is not internally connected to the rest of the house, i.e. it has it's own external entrance. Not ideal for families with young children.

Great location. Across the street from the beach and walking distance to town. We rented a golf cart for 2 days. Very roomy living room/kitchen area and nice big deck for quiet evenings. But the whole house needs TLC and the beds are very uncomfortable. Mattresses are old, soft, and sag in the middle. We had to put all available extra pillows under the mattress for a little stability. I wouldn’t stay there again just for the sleeping conditions.
