Luxury central Edinburgh with stunning views of castle!
About this condo rental
Located in Edinburgh, this attractive condo for $645 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Location, location, location! The Robert Louis Stevenson Suite is a luxury apartment with unprecedented views of Edinburgh Castle. Located just 2 minutes from the iconic Princes St on the corner of George St (lots of shopping, bars and restaurants) and North Castle St, the apartment is in the heart of the New Town, making it an ideal base for visiting all the main tourist sites of Edinburgh. The apartment block was one of the first flats to be built in the New Town by James Craig in 1790 and sits directly adjacent to the Edinburgh town house of Sir Walter Scott! For the sake of clarity, the apartment is located on the first floor of the building and from street level there are approx 20 steps (no elevator as one of the first buildings to be erected in "The new Town" and is a listed building). The steps are more gradual and winding than steep and vertical. The flat opens into a square reception hall providing access to all rooms. To the front of the flat and with a southerly aspect from its twin windows is a magnificent drawing room featuring a gas fire with iron grate and pretty timber mantle, dado paneling and delicate plaster work. A glazed door provides secondary access from the drawing room into a striking breakfasting kitchen fitted with an attractive range of painted timber units topped with thick granite surfaces and incorporating a full range of integrated appliances, including a recessed range cooker set, oven/grill, and microwave as well as a washing machine and full height fridge/freezer. The bedrooms comprise a generously proportioned master bedroom with a king size bed and dual aspect views towards Edinburgh Castle. This bedroom features secondary double glazing and also benefits from a luxurious en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is set up with twin beds (can be pushed together to form a double on request) and is served by an equally well fitted family bathroom off the hall. Larger parties can enquire about our apartment in the same building - The Walter Scott Suite ( same building below this one on the first floor), has the same high spec and stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. Combined, both properties can accommodate up to 8 / 10 people comfortably. It has the same stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and can be made available by special request.

The location was perfect. We could see the castle from the one bedroom window which was nice. Know that you will hear the bar below the property late at night but that was not a big deal for us. Things that could be better or noted is the wifi is almost non existing. It is there but we could do anything in it and tried several times super slow and had to be in the kitchen to get a strong signal, finally gave up. The TV setup was very confusing had to purchase batteries for the five different remotes so they would work only to find out the setup box had a menu but no subscription to anything so turned it off and watch Netflix which was the only streaming service available as it’s a super old TV….
Bottom line you get a shell of a place in a great location without anything that is now fairly standard like body soap for the shower, bring extra towels. This could be a fantastic place with some upgrades so you don’t have to bring everything yourself… 😉

Lovely big apartment. Great space for an adult family. Convenient for old and new town.

Really enjoyed our stay. Edinburgh and Scotland were our favorite locations

Flat was very spacious and comfortable. The host provided a helpful how-to-guide which was very useful though coming from the U.S. we did have to figure out how to power on the refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher which were without power when we arrived. Despite the cool, rainy weather we had a great stay and would consider again if we come back to Edinburgh.

Property was well located on a street with many options to shop, eat and drink. Several coffee shops nearby. And nice walk to all the monuments. Well appointed apt with all the modern conveniences. Morris was a timely and communicative owner. Only downside was the street noise from some lively bars. Nothing a nature app cant handle! We would rent again

Great location and spacious for two couples. Enjoyed convenience and access to city transportation so we didn't have to hire too many taxis. Place was clean and perfect for our visit. Nancy and friends.

Difficulty in checking in, no key in the lockbox, several calls to Morris failed to rectify the situation so he came and met us and we were able to resolve the problem. One issue, which may seem petty, but was problematic was the fact we had 3 1/2 small rolls of toilet paper for 4 adults for 4 days !

It was our first visit to Edinburgh and the accommodation was close to Edinburgh castle, museums, the tram and Waverly Train station. Perfect for our visit.
The flat had a large living room, two bathrooms, a modern kitchen and a quiet bedroom that met our needs.
Overall, a nice place to stay.

This was our second stay in this unit and we loved it both times! Owner is helpful and responsive. Stairs up to the first floor were very manageable with our small bags. Location is perfectly central for so many areas and and easy walk to both the bus station and Waverley train. We hope to come back!

Just gorgeous. Helped us fall in love with Edinburgh. Morris very responsive to all our jet lagged questions. The apartment felt like home and we can't wait to come back.

We loved our stay. Easy to walk every where from this property. View of castle was a bonus. Great restaurants a few steps from the front door. Thanks for a great stay.

dissapointed in actual apartment. Entrance was dirty and smelled like a beer parlour. Apartment needed a facelift to actually look as it was shown. Overpriced for the money we paid.

Roomy apartment in an older building.. nice layout, great kitchen with a dining table for 4. There were no basic kitchen food supplies but there are nearby grocery stores to fill the fridge with water, snacks, and buy cooking basics, and toilet paper. Bath soap was supplied. We did not cook because there were so many nice restaurants in the surrounding area. The living room has two comfortable sofas and a large screen TV. Because the walls are so thick, WiFi can be iffy if too far from the router which is located in the kitchen. The location of this rental cannot be beat for walking to the nearby outdoor mall for shopping and if you grow tired of walking, Uber drivers are everywhere! The beautiful view of the castle from the rental was stunning. Check-in and check out was easy. If you're American, please be sure to get instructions for the washing machine which doubles as a dryer, because it's quite different to use, but once figured out, they work ok, it just takes clothes a lot longer to dry. Overall, a great stay!

Morris was a very helpful and attentive host. Thank you for helping to make our visit memorable. The flat was large and perfectly located to explore Edinburgh by foot. It also was close to bus and transit lines for easy connections. We look forward to a return visit.

An excellent location with all the amenities of home! We loved staying at this spacious, centrally located flat for a week while in Edinburgh! Walking distance to everything, we enjoyed exploring the city and then looked forward to our return to the flat to relax and enjoy the amenities. Definitely would stay here again.

Property was as described. Location was excellent! Could not imagine enjoying our stay anymore than we did. Spending time in the hustle and bustle of old town, made returning to the apartment in new town calming and relaxing! would definitely book again.

We stayed in Edinburgh after visiting the Highlands. We enjoyed the apartment very much. It is in a great location and also very comfortable. It is within walking distance of many popular attractions as well as to bus lines and the Waverly Train Station. The neighborhood also has great restaurants nearby. We would definitely recommend it.

Great location. Clean, great views of the castle from one of the bedrooms.

This location is amazing. Central to everything we wanted to do. The only problems we encountered was the noise level every night (week day and weekend) from the bars surrounding the place. Unfortunately keeping us up every night with loud music and loud cars till almost 3am. The place itself was great, don’t expect to take much of a shower due to low water pressure and cold water but again I still enjoyed my stay. The communication with the host was great and directions were clear. It has a lot of room and was nice to have space for my family and I.

The flat is in a perfect location for walking around the city. The only issue we had was it can get quite noisy at night with people walking around outside. But the beds were comfy enough we tended to fall asleep before too long anyway.

Good local. A little noisy at night but that was OK for us. Lots of space and well equipped apartment. Owner very good with communication and flexibility. Would recommend this property if you are looking for a spacious accommodation in an amazing central location in Edinburgh

This Edinburgh flat was wonderful. In the middle of it all. Equipped with all that you need and Morris is an excellent host. Would stay here again.

This flat was just perfect for our family of three (19 yo son) for the week we spent in Edinburgh. It was warm and had all the comforts and convenience we needed. Best of all, it's on Castle Street, so our view of the fireworks from the castle was spectacular! We were close to everything and walked to every destination and spent evenings in front of the fire watching the Great British Baking Show. It was such a lovely week in a beautiful city with the friendliest people in the UK!

Our stay was during the Christmas holiday season as well as a cold snap. The flat was very cozy and spacious. The location is in the heart of lots of activity with so many options for good food. Close enough to walk to several attractions. At this time of year there’s a winter carnival set up right outside and the lights of the rides cast a magical light show on the living room walls. If that sounds like something that would annoy you there are thick drapes you can close to block it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rides go until 10pm and you can hear the noise from the rides and the people on the rides. Again - ear plugs perhaps if that is a problem. The flat is up one flight of stairs - 25 steps in all - and it is a spiral staircase. I would stay here again!

The apartment was perfect for our family of four with space and the two bathrooms was a bonus with the teenagers. Centrally located and with everything we needed for 5 nights. Communication with owner was excellent & prompt - he even helped me with suggestions to locate a real fir Christmas tree so we could enjoy the Christmas festivities over our stay! Would love to stay again if we are back in Edinburgh.

We were on the whole delighted with the accommodation but a few things came to light.
Sitting room was perfect.
Master bedroom has a few problems, please, please fix the curtains as it spoils the look of the room. Especially as you have spent a lot of money on them. They just need rehung.
You have no mirror for putting on make-up or doing hair as this is impossible in the ensuite. I found this very frustrating as there is plenty of room to hang one.
Bed was comfy but floors were very noisy. I know it is an old building but need looked at.
On the whole a lovely apartment just make sure the things that need done get done and then you will not receive this kind of comment.

4 adults stayed here for our daughter's wedding. The apartment was perfect. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean. The living room had plenty of space to relax and a cozy gas fireplace when other family members came over for a glass of wine or whiskey before dinner out. Our daughter and her bridesmaids all had plenty of room to get ready the morning of the wedding.
We only used the kitchen for breakfast and it seemed well stocked with what we needed.
The location is fantastic. We were able to walk to everything including stores, restaurants and coffee places. There is a pub close by so some street noise on Friday and Saturday night, but overall the environment was peaceful.
Morris and the property management company communicated and responded quickly when we had questions. Check in and check out was easy..
We definitely recommend this apartment.
