Hotel is a bit dated compared to the other resorts but very clean. We had a three bedroom/ 2 bath suite which had two rooms without a view and the main bedroom with a balcony and view. Kitchen has everything to prepare meals but we had the all inclusive package and didn’t use it. Living room is spacious with an ocean view balcony as well. A lounger on the balcony would have been nice.
The service is phenomenal!! Staff everywhere is helpful and friendly. We had mo issues getting loungers by the pool but the towel system is very inconvenient to the guests. Guests are required to go to the first pool area for a beach towel with a card you get at check in and have to return the towel to get your card back.
The food is good but not great. Also, it is almost too hot (in May) to sit and eat breakfast at the beachside buffet. The other restaurants were hot as well and it uncomfortable to eat while hot. A suggestion, it would have been helpful to have the calendar of activities before arriving to plan around events we wanted to be at.
Overall, I would stay again and would recommend to friends and family

Velas Vallarta was a total win! The place was gorgeous, with amazing landscaping and everything was super clean. The staff was awesome – friendly and always helpful. We got the all-inclusive package, so no surprise bills which was nice. Our room (a studio suite) was comfy with a king bed and a sleeper sofa, perfect for our little family. There were these great big pools, but no hot tub which was a bit of a bummer. The food scene was hit or miss – some dishes were fantastic, others just okay. But hey, there was always tons to choose from including buffets and a salad bar, so we never left hungry. The beach was right there, but water was not swimmable during our stay. Still, the location was perfect – close to the airport and just a 20-minute ride from Malecón. Overall, we had a blast and would definitely go back!

The staff and how they treat you is amazing. Must've encountered 50 staff members and not one was rude....they all tried so so very hard to make one's stay memorable.
So many activities everyday, it was lively by the pool and in the evening. Mexican night was very unique and great food. All other nightly shows/ activities were engaging. Christian is the lynch pin, funny dude and is a jack of all trades. Max runs the pool activities and is awesome. Enrique at the beachfront restaurant was so kind to our son who was trying to converse in spanish, may others were also very encouraging. Food options were great, something for everyone. the buffet was fresh and with lots of variety.
The pools are populated by age almost via an unspoken understanding. Seniors on one side, babies/ toddler in another pool and all other ages in another.....the property is on the beach so you can just walk to the ocean/ bay area but waters were choppy the week we were there.
We didnt venture outside much but the ATV tour we did was useless....so after that experience we stayed back at the resort.
Lots of people who had timeshares and had been coming for years....good to see

Stayed solo for three days. Service from staff was excellent. From moment I arrived to moment I left everyone was super friendly and helpful. Pool was great and generally clean. Food was hit or miss. I had all inclusive and it was great to order as much as I wanted but felt because I had all inclusive the portions were smaller? So I didn’t intend to order more food but since the entree was so small I was still hungry. I mostly ate all a la carte. Stayed away from buffet as I’m a germaphobe. Stayed in studio room which was nice for one although the kitchenette felt dated by bathroom was nice and bed was very comfy. Loved that snacks and water in mini bar were included as well. I booked a week before I was leaving and got a great online deal for the studio room. WiFi worked great for remote working. Overall highly recommend and easy walk to nearby marina. Walked at night and felt safe for the most part walking solo back and forth. Ubers to travel around super cheap so I tipped well.

Beautiful, well-maintained property. Pools were always clean, grounds immaculate. It was nice to be able to choose between buffet and ordering from menu. We loved La Ribera for meals right on the beach. Food was always good and I especially enjoyed the stir-fry option at lunch, and the short-rib tacos. Also the huge shrimp cocktails! Angel was our favorite waiter! We had several delicious dinners at Andrea and making reservations was super simple!

We stayed at Velas Vallarta for 3 nights to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. We could not have picked a better resort. Every single employee we encountered was professional, kind, and efficient. The grounds/landscaping was beautiful and well maintained. The koi fish were a wonderful addition. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. They could have used a little updating, but it wasn't anything that distracted us from the stay. The pools were clean and spacious. The food was THE only thing that we could find that wouldn't get 5 stars from us. Overall, it was all a little under seasoned and my husband found it a little bland. The desserts were a big hit, and delicious! We're both talking about when we could come back.

The pool was great, but very hard to find open seating for 2. The room was average, housekeeping was amazing. Limited dining options was difficult due to the large number of guests. The towels had to be exchanged but several times there weren’t fresh towels.

Hard-working, friendly staff especially in restaurants. Food varied from fair to excellent, best in "gourmet" Andrea restaurant. Pools were nice. Despite notices to the contrary, people persisted in reserving chairs early in the morning. Although threatened with their belongings being removed and stored, it was not enforced. Pickleball courts (and probably tennis) needed cleaning: dangerously slippery. Our room was nice but noisy almost every morning with staff unloading supplies and working below.

It would be great if all of the loungers had cushions. The salads could be colder and the buffet food could be hotter. Other than that, everything was wonderful.

Good access to the beach. Water pressure in suite was good. The grounds are exceptionally taken care of. Place was very dirty, long black hairs on the couch found, trash behind the tv, after the cups and plates were “washed” there were still lipstick marks. Forks had caked on food. Food was horrific, purely bland. It was so bad I ordered food from Rappi and cooked my own in the suite. I guess if you are too drunk to notice you will be fine. Bland food that was sitting out for long periods of time. Ordered water from room service and after 2 hours had to call again since they weren’t bringing it apparently. Weren’t shown to our room so had to roam around until we found it ourselves. Few staff that were friendly and hours before getting drinks. Would not ever come back. I prefer a more authentic Mexican experience and nothing about this place was that. Sitting at the beach you will constantly be heckled. Bought a dusty shot glass and 3 simple brackets to bring back for my kids and they charged me $75 USD. This place is a complete rip off. Idk who is leaving rave reviews for this place. Staff acted like we should be sad to go “back to the real world” we were excited to get out of this place and back to our home! I even got my RT card while here and one staff was bothered as “I’m not MX” Yikes. The suite was severely outdated and definitely not clean. Like I said the beach is great if you can get away from all the vendors harassing you or you are too drunk to notice anything here

It's your classic all inclusive. It was not great with a toddler. Hard to just get a drink. It was lacking fresh food like fruits and vegetables it had some but not enough. Only two restaurant options. The staff didn't speak great English. You need towel cards so you have to keep track of them. There was no fresh squeezed juices. We just had a hard time feed our daughter. Two nights drunk people knocked on our door. There were loud fireworks we couldn't see but we could hear.
It has more of a party vibe then we had wanted.

Jesús was amazing at check in and so was everyone else during our stay. Service was exemplary and the pool was lovely, room service top notch and our suite on the ground floor was perfect.

THIS IS GREAT RESORT. STAFF IS VERY COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. FOOD OPTIOND ARE VERY GOOD. BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS. ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE IS THAT US EARLY MORNING PEOPLE HAD NO LIGHTING ON THE PATHS OR WALKWAYS TO THE ROOMS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.

This was my first visit to this hotel after going to this city for years. I never want to go to another hotel again after this experience. Only velas for me. Wonderful. Everything was fabulous. I did not want to leave. I want to retire and move there to the hotel.

We were give a small room for what was advertised and booked in Expedia. I have to spend an extra 100 dollars to upgrade to a bigger room. Food was not good.

I purchase a VIP package with option to upgrade. I was not upgraded to a better room. I complained about this they contacted me to offer me a room in a lower floor with smaller beds. Which is not an upgrade. I even paid more for an extra guest I had and I was not upgraded to a bigger room even though they told me it was available if I pay more LOL. Terrible service for a VIP package.

Hotel is lovely! with top notch staff. The only thing I felt it was lacking was the food.based on other reviews I actually thought it was going to be good, but they did not have variety and the taste was simply not the greatest.

We upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite with a private balcony and a hot tub and it was totally worth the extra expenditure.

It's hard to write review for this one. Our first two nights were horrible and I would give one star and rest of the stay were fine and I would give four star. The property is actually quite beautiful, great layout, three big pool and lazy river, big suite, good food, most staff are warm and happy to help. However, the facility is a bit old and many things could go wrong and the staff are not equipped to address them. I would also say that many staff are warm but not very good...The reception didn't give us the ocean view suite that we booked and didn't inform us at all. The air con of our room was down and the engineers were turning it on and off again and again remotely at 2am, waking us up, despite that we told them not to do anything till the next day. Then next morning, while we were all sleep, an engineer walked in our suite and knocked on our bedroom door because he wants to fixed the air con...Also, there could be crocodiles in the ocean so no one is really swimming in the ocean or hang out late on the beach. While the hotel is overall beautiful, I would not visit again because the unpredictability of the facility and service. I would like to have a more relaxing vacation with more reliable service. On the other hand, if you are lucky and nothing goes wrong with your room, you might be fine with the hotel.

Solid place to stay just not particularly upscale and not really worth the price. Food was very good but the other amenities were average. It was safe and clean just not worth the price.

Our family of 10 all enjoyed the resort....a very hard working and professional staff all wanting to make our stay enjoyable. We would certainly return to this resort !
